  1. I sailed the Libery out of Miami a few months ago. I didn't try to sneak alcohol, but I can tell you they went through each and every can of Coke and bottle of water I brought in my carry on.

My sister did have a few of those mini bottles of liquor in her purse when we sailed the Breeze out of Miami and they were confiscated.

  2. I am booked on the Sunshine and have been reading that there are no fridges in most of the cabins. I was surprised that Carnival didn't put them in during the renovation. We have cabins booked on the 6 and 8 decks. My sister needs a fridge to store breastmilk. Would Carnival put one in her room if she requested it for this reason?

I guess the rest of us can make due without one. Will the cabin steward fill up a cooler with ice along with the usual ice bucket daily for me if I request it? How much of a tip should I give when I ask him to do that for me?

  3. We just booked 6 cabins on the Sunshine using the 'Nowisthetime' sale.

There is a $50 non refundable per person deposit. Final payment due 30 days before sailing.

Normally, non early saver booking can get a price drop up to final payment. Would that mean we would be able get price drops up to 30 days before sailing?

  4. Any time you fly in the day of a cruise, there is always a risk of missing the ship, however small. As long as there are no long delays, you should be fine with that flight.

Prior to moving to Florida, I always flew in the day of. I have had some close calls. I once had a flight cancel due to mechanical issues. The airline tried to rebook us on a later flight which would have caused me to miss my cruise. Once I explained I had a cruise to catch, they did find me another flight on a different airline. I have also had delays. In the end, I have always made it.

You just have to decide how much of a risk you are willing to take.

  5. Booked a 5 day and 4 day B2B on the Victory starting 2-8-14. SIL had guest be a no show at the port. Carnival is charging $200 cancelation fee for the first leg and $0 charges for the 2nd leg. Not sure why. Can anyone help on this one? Thanks.

Did she tell the person at the port while checking in that the guest was not cruising? I am just wondering if it was canceled at the port instead of it being a true no show.

  6. Let Carnival know that you have medications that need to be refrigerated and they will bring a fridge in your cabin that is actually cold. The ones that are in the cabins (although I have never been on the Miracle and am not sure if they have them) do not keep things cold, just slightly cool.

  7. Yes. I always bring my own soda and bottled water. My sister always brings juices boxes for her kids. I believe there is a limit of 12 cans/bottles pp, but I see people bring on more than that. You do need to bring it in your carry on. Security will check each and every can/bottle so it does delay going through security slightly.

  8. I would like to snorkel the wall, which is the area where it drops to 7000 feet. Can anyone recommend a snorkeling tour that includes this area? I did not see any offered through Carnival. I was also wondering how far this area is from where the ship docks. Thanks!

  9. On the "Your Rate" tab, look for the tiny text link "Other rates." They're hiding the other options now, which is kind of a scummy scammy tactic.

I did check the 'other rates'. The only rates available to select are either Fun Select or Early Saver. Of course, Wednesday is 5 months out and probably the last day to book early saver.

Since I don't want to book early saver, I will wait a few days and see what Carnival does.

  10. I went to book a cruise today for July 2014. (Liberty leaving 7/19). The only rates available are fun saver or early saver. We usually book past guest. We don't want to book early saver since we want the ability to cancel without penalty. I can't believe Carnival would get rid of all of the other rate options.

  11. My niece was technically allowed to check herself out of camp at 9. My sister only allowed this so that other family members, like myself, could pick her up from camp without having to be on the list. We cruise in a large family group. My niece knew that she was only allowed to leave the camp if she was with an adult family member. I never understood the parents that allow young children to roam the ship without an adult.

  12. My extended family does a yearly cruise, so we are all cruising veterans. We have cruised NCL, Costa, Celebrity, and Carnival. Carnival is the cruise line we do the majority of the time, including 5 out of the last 6 cruises. We have never cruised Royal before, for no particular reason. Well, this year we will be cruising on Allure this summer. I had some questions about Royal.

    - Are you allowed to bring non-alcoholic drinks onboard? Usually with Carnival, I bring a 12 pack of Coke. Also, there will be young children in our group and their mother likes to give them juice and usually brings juice boxes. Is this allowed?

-For those with children, can you leave children on board in the kid's program while you leave the ship on an excursion? Can you pay to have a babysitter watch a 1 yr old while you leave the ship? At night while you go to shows?

-What beverages are included? Is lemonade available 24/7 like on Carnival?

-As for the dress code in the MDR. Are shorts, jeans, t-shirts allowed on casual nights? If so, do a lot people wear them? I don't want to hear opinions on what people think should be worn, I just want to know what is allowed and what people actually do wear.

-Do the cabins have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc?

-Any major differences from Carnival that you think is worth mentioning?

    Thanks!

  13. Looking at booking one of these type rooms, wondered if you heard any noise from the stairways that are located right beside the rooms. Usually book a regular balcony but this type layout looks interesting especially for the larger balcony. Did you think the room felt crowded at all? Thanks for any input!:)

We heard absolutely no noise from the stairwell. We loved the layout. We thought is felt more spacious than a regular cabin, even though it is missing the couch. The large balcony is wonderful! There were 3 chairs, a lounger, and a table. The bed faces the ocean which is real nice. I will always try to book one of these cabins if possible in the future over a regular balcony.

  14. I was on the Liberty last month and did the Western itinerary (Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, Grand Cayman). It was a great cruise and I loved the Liberty. I haven't gotten around to writing a review, but I'd be happy to answer questions.

One thing I will say is that I booked one of the premium 8A balconies, #6481 and loved it!

  15. The tenders themselves are not a big deal. Do not let them stop you from going to shore. I believe the ride in Belize is 3 or 4 miles and takes 15-20 minutes. In Grand Cayman, you will be really close to shore. The tender ride is just a few minutes. If you have a Carnival excursion booked then you will meet in the theater ahead of time an your excursion group will be escorted to the tender. If you are going to port on your own, you will have to go to the lounge (it will be in the Fun Times) and get a sticker. You will then be instructed to go to the tender once your tender # is called. Later in the afternoon, you will be able to just get on a tender without a sticker.

As for Belize, there is not much at port. Just some shops and a few bars. I personally do not feel comfortable leaving the port area unless on a tour. Belize is one of the few ports where I will only do a Carnival excursion, if I do one. Most of the tours take you really far from the ship. Also, if you book a snorkeling tour through the ship, the excursion picks you up and drops you off directly from the ship without having to tender to shore.
