Just off Valor the 27th and was told no 2.0 and no American Table..Dennis
ALL Carnival ships are getting the 2.0 upgrades and American Table.
-
You will have no problem taking the supplements on board. The bottled water will have to be purchased from Carnival. It is $2.99 for a 12 pack.

We are just off the Valor on the 27th and was told they are NOT getting 2.0(they still have a 6 piece showband) and NO American Table installed either..
All Carnival ship are getting the 2.0 upgrade eventually. Valor has a dry dock scheduled at the end of April where they should be getting the 2.0 upgrades.

A 30% discount is actually pretty generous. As for the food poisoning, I contracted Salmonella on the Dream. I had to be hospitalized and missed a week of work due to the illness. All I got was an email telling me that some 'gastrointestinal upset' is expected when cruising.

What is playlist?

That's for the info. I will have to check my AmEx account to see if I qualify for this offer.

When I travel with my large family, we have anywhere from 15-20 people. We always link the reservations and choose traditional dining. We have always been either sat at the same table or at tables next to each other.

Does anyone know if the Valor will be getting the American Table menus after the dry dock?

The dress code is the same for children. One year my nephew, who was 12 at the time, had on a nice sleeveless shirt and was stopped at the MDR door for lunch and had to change into a shirt with sleeves.
-
When I sailed in mid September, there were very few children on board.

Smoking used to be allowed on the cabin balconies, but the policy was changed and it is no longer allowed.

I'm still not so sure the 50.00 is a misprint and meant to be 15.00. There just aren't any drinks that expensive on Carnival. At least up until now. I'm on the Breeze in 10 days. Can't wait! Bill.
My friend ordered a Red Bull and Grey Goose and it was $25

I am doing this same itinerary on the Valor in July so I am looking forward to your port reviews.

I don't believe smoking is allowed in the night club. There is smoking in the casino. Some cruises I have been on the smoking was bad, other times not so much.
-
I would take a cove balcony over an inside any day no matter the location. Not only is the cabin bigger, but I love being able to step outside while in my cabin. I think $340 for 4 people to upgrade is a great deal.

I am pretty sure there is karaoke on all Carnival cruises.

Unless you booked early saver there is no way to get a price drop. You can upgrade at any time for the going rate. There are no secrets to getting price drops when you don't qualify for them.

The easiest way to get from FLL to Port Everglades is a taxi. It is a short ride.

I don't think there is a specific upgrade department. You can call customer service if you would like to upgrade and you do not have a PVP or travel agent.

I like Norwegian. I would definitely recommend trying them out. I find Norwegian and Carnival to be more alike than different. In the end, I think I prefer Carnival, but that may be because I am more familiar with them. I would definitely cruise with Norwegian again though. Here are some minor differences I noticed:
I love the 24 hour restaurant that Norwegian has over the gross 24 hour pizza Carnival has. I like that Norwegian has glass shower doors instead of the shower curtain Carnival has. I also like that Norwegian has rock climbing walls on their ships.
I like that Carnival offers the traditional early and late dinner seatings plus your time. Norwegian only offers the any time dining. When I travel with my large extended family, having a set dinner time with Carnival guarantees we will sit together each night. On Norwegian, we either had to sit separate, wait 2 hours for us to sit together (no exaggeration), or make reservations for the MDR and the reservations were only available at odd times. Norwegian also has a lot of pay restaurants taking up a lot of the common space on the ship. This made the ship feel crowded to me.
Carnival also allows adults to bring on 1 bottle of wine. Norwegian charges for this.

I just booked a cruise on the Valor this summer. I know the Valor is undergoing a dry dock in April. I am assuming the Valor is getting the 2.0 upgrades, but does anyone know the details? I am assuming they will add Guy's, but what about the Blue Iguana Cantina? I love the tacos. Will they also be refreshing the ship with new carpets and mattresses? Will they be adding a water works area. I know they just have 1 slide now.
I am also curious if the Valor is using the new American table menus yet or if anyone knows when they will be?

I don't mean to highjack the thread, but I also have a question about the drink packages. If you buy it online ahead of time, do you have to pay at the time you purchase it, or is it added to your sail & sign?
-
Is the drinks package worth it ?
It's around $50 a person a day plus 15% gratuity. All adults sharing a cabin must purchase the package. For my upcoming 8 day cruise it is over $900 for the 2 of us. We have never had a bar bill even close to that high, so it is not worth it to us.

Does the Valor have the American table menu?
Is the Sunshine as bad as they say?
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
I sailed the Sunshine about a year and a half ago. To be honest, it was not my favorite ship, but I had a great cruise none the less. When Carnival renovated the Destiny into the Sunshine, they added cabins by removing common areas. I felt that the ship was too crowded for the amount of space. The main theater was small with only 2 stories. The comedy club was tiny. It just always felt crowded to me. The majority of the cabins do not have fridges either. That said, I enjoyed the cruise. I thought the Sunshine was a very nice ship other than the crowds.
