  1. The MDR on Carnival has not been fine dining in years. I have noticed a steady decline in the quality of food, especially the cuts of beef over the years. Once the airlines started charging for luggage, Carnival lessened the dress codes to reflect the fact that people just can't pack as much as they used to. Personally, I don't care what people wear provided it is clean and it covers them. That said, I don't think it is difficult to follow the rules. Nice shorts are allowed on casual nights. Khakis and a polo are allowed on elegant nights, so it shouldn't be hard to follow that. I agree with a previous poster that flip-flops in the dress code tend to mean the cheap plastic ones, and not nice leather sandals.

  2. My sister almost missed the ship for one of our annual family cruises. She and her husband and their 4 kids were driving from Cleveland to Port Canaveral for a cruise leaving Saturday. They had planned to leave Ohio Thursday morning and arrive in Caper Canaveral Friday evening. The ended up leaving Friday, late morning. They drove straight through and got a hotel 2 hours from Port Canaveral around 3AM Saturday morning. They were exhausted and got a late start Saturday and made it to the Port at around 2:30PM. When they arrive, my sister realizes that she packed the kid's birth certificates, but forgot her and her husband's Passports.

The Carnival rep at the port asks if anyone can email their birth certificates to her. Our other sister was battling an illness and was unable to cruise with us that year. She was on medical leave from work so she was home and had just been cleared to drive short distances the day before. She was able to go to this sister's house, about a 10 minute drive for her, and take a picture of the birth certificates and email the Carnival rep the pictures. The Carnival rep printed the pictures out and the photos served as their copy of their birth certificate. My sister and her family boarded the ship at 4:05 PM. They help up closing it up for her. She missed muster drill though.

  3. I have been cruising Carnival for 19 years. I have noticed a decline in the food quality. There is prime rib 2 nights in the MDR on a 7 day cruise. Usually the first formal night and the last night. As others mention, you can get flat iron steak every night. You can get steak at the brunch in the MDR too. If you love steak, I definitely recommend the Steakhouse for $35/pp.

  4. Comedy, similar to food, is very subjective....some people find vulgarity very humorous, others find it offensive. As a general rule in a comedy club, if you embarrass easily, NEVER sit in one of the first few rows by the stage, as you found out

I don't know any woman that would find a man describing her doing vulgar sex acts to a room full of strangers comedy.

  5. I always attend at least one of the adult comedy shows on board and most of the time they are really funny. I was at one where the 'comedian' decided to pick on me. He just started commenting on my body and my breasts and started describing me doing vulgar sex acts . That's not comedy. I got up to walk out and he started making fun of me about how I can't take a joke. I just replied that he was not funny, he was a disgusting pervert.

  6. Is there a limit like sodas, 12 only?

My siblings fly to port the morning of and I drive, so they always ask me to bring their kid's juice boxes on board for them. I will bring my allotted soda plus a bunch of juice boxes, both in carry on and checked bags and I have never had an issue.

  7. Thanks for the info and the quick reply. My biggest concern is the fact that my trip is in the fall New England / Canada. If it is raining and it is an outside excursion, I don't think we would want to go on it. Do you think that the cruise line (Carnival) would cancel the excursion?

I have had ship excursions cancelled due to weather. If it is just rain and not lightning or a torrential downpour, it is doubtful they will cancel. If an excursion is cancelled by the cruise line, they will credit your S&S.

  8. I tried the YTD and went back to the early dining the next cruise. The wait time could be 30-60 minutes unless you went right when it started or right before it ended. Plus I missed having the same waiter every night. I know you can request a specific YTD waiter, but that may increase your wait time.
