    let’s call it what it is….an extremely poor sales tool…if u want to use azamara only one way to do it…get a GOOD travel agent and have them do EVERYTHING until you get to the ship…they haven’t figured out how to screw that up and the current onboard people are SO good, they’d really have to work at it to screw that up. i can only imagine how overwhelmed the loyalty ambassadors onboard are with this cl******uck to put it mildly.
  2. currently back to back on journey and i agree the house wines on this one have been at least above average and better than expected. As for food, i think main dining room has been somewhat disappointing as service is rushed and inconsistent and quality not as high as i expect. Buffet has been better than expected with high service levels there as well as the patio. As for the food there, hit and miss as should be predicted. my wife has fallen in love with aqualina and prime c so spent more obc there than expected. Crew almost without exception has been outstanding, very few of the typical crew ship workers “i wish i was anywhere else”. We’ve have lots of crew interaction and much more than hello there stuff and took it as an opportunity to learn a little about other cultures quite joyfully i must say. One of the best cruise experiences ever for us. only exception is the excursion group which still is substandard, poorly organized and surly. But i will not allow that to darken the experience otherwise. And the internet here is still abysmal, hopefully after upgrade they will put the daily program on intranet like others have done.
  3. we just completed 6 azamara shore excursions with an average of about 42 people per bus tour, waited for no shows twice over 30 minutes apiece. if you like herding cats and waiting, these are the tours for you. They definitely changed the buses and number of people per excursion and still remain overpriced per the rest of the industry. when i book my next azamara trip i will definitely try to avoid on board credit as that is how they got me to book these bus tours from hell. although the guides were fairly good in my opinion.
  4. on journey they say that starlink is being pulled from onward as the starlink people were unaware of the sale from rccl. azamara hq is telling them that they are trying to negotiate a rate with starlink so stay tuned but believe it when you see it until further notice. certainly journey has NOT been updated.
  5. businesses exist to make a profit, i merely pointed out that their higher than average shore excursion cost is no longer justifiable based on having fewer customers per bus. That is a corporate decision that i feel has been inadequately exposed and am merely providing information for those in the community who make decisions based on value. Other than excursions i find little has changed in their overall product and I EXPECTED to see cutbacks in maintenance and food and have found none. Personally i plan no changes in my preferred lines, i just would book ship shore excursions VERY selectively in the future.

  7. THEY CHANGED THE POLICY FROM 25 average to 50….all sycamore profit….corporate policy decision ….timing was stated by excursion manager onboard…do you have a reason to defend the indefensible?
  8. specifically in east london on the xhosa demonstration tour, as for the policy change excursion staff proclaimed of the change that happened during the pandemic (coincidentally when private equity took over)…it merely creates discomfort for customers but greater profit for sycamore partners. Lower occupancy was always the excuse/reason for the high prices on azamara shore excursions. Sadly that is no longer true, hence my general warning.
  9. customer be warned….azamara shore excursions will PACK 54 people in a 58 seat bus for a drive over an hour and then say AC isn’t even guaranteed….there is NO justification other than pure profit by sycamore partners for this change in policy. BOOK private to control your environment otherwise you’re at their mercy, this is the “new” azamara.

    i just logged onto the Celebrity website, they must have heard i booked on Azamara as they apparently reset my history to 0…. just another nail in the now dead future Celebrity cruise future for me.
  11. must be nice to be upset about a trip 18 months from now…i’m a heart patient worried about going on a paid for cruise on 2/20, 18 months seems forever to me
  12. in my mind, missing the shetland islands is no big deal (been there, done that, one of the worst ports IMHO). As stated, they told you over a year in advance and offered to refund money paid, what more could they do…they found a problem and addressed it…i’m no azamara fanboy but i doubt ANY cruise line would have done more. take your refund and wait for them to reprice it if you still want to go. The market will adjust the price if they don’t.

  14. yeah i remember Bill fondly as he was answering questions with authority and stirring controversy and getting fixed back 10 years ago when i was first learning the azamara culture….He is missed
  15. american pulled the same thing on me about 5 years ago and couldn’t fix the seat so i wound moving myself to premium economy as all the other business were full….disgusting way to start a trip.
  16. traveled from california to kenya in august and united decided to send my luggage across two hubs and then it sat in nairobi for two days while they alternately they couldn’t find it but were “urgently” searching for it…i know the actual history as opposed to their lies because i had airtags which were actually separated for about 10 hours. Now they don’t want pay for the clothing i needed to buy to survive for 4 days…airlines suck! !! 4 days can be a long time without luggage.
