1. We did the land and sea excursion two years ago, and it was a disaster, and I said NEVER AGAIN....BUT...I am hopeful for more beach time, and an uneventful excursion. I don't see any other alternatives to get to the beach and have a good amount of time there. We had been promised an hour and a half last time...we got approximately 30 minutes...traffic, poor judgement, we almost missed the ship....? glutton for punishment?? maybe!!

  2. I am so happy I saw this review! We are going on the Valor in August and this made my excitement even greater! I also am happy to have read that you enjoyed Spencer Ambrose's tour....We did a tour with Spencer in 2012 and we were bitterly disappointed and as a result, I had booked another company for this upcoming visit to St. Lucia. It is a gorgeous island, but we had a very bad experience and got back to the pier with 15 minutes left til sailaway. HOWEVER, after reading about your experience and seeing your gorgeous pictures, I have cancelled the other tour and am going to give Spencer another try! Thank you for sharing! ......and Go Pens Go!!!! (I live in Toronto, but Pens are MY TEAM!)

  3. If I book my next cruise on my cruise will my PVP get credit for the booking? She does a great job and would not want to cut her short.

yes....you just tell the booking agent that you want it to go to your TA or PVP...maybe be sure to have that info with you....or, if that PVP ws the last one to book you, it would be in the system!

  4. I was reading thru cruise critic and somebody recommended to check the fare viewer site on CCLC to see if rates went down. The web site was down, so I figured, why not call and just check. The lovely lady on the other end of the phone said there was a new promotion that just began today and she would deduct $400 off my remaining balance! What a great way to start my weekend! I wanted to pay it forward, so call, and

save some money! Happy Friday everybody!

    :) $200 for me!

  5. I have done this several times! It is easy, and yes...go early on in your cruise...the lineups can be huge! If you are requiring more than one cabin, and not too particular about location, use one of your Friend and Family vouchers and book the remaining cabins AFTER YOU GET HOME! It will save you the immediate funds for deposits! Good luck!

  6.
Really???? You guys had rough seas. We never had one bad day with the weather and it was by far the smoothest seas on any of our cruises. There were many days when we would sit out on deck and look out and the water wasn't even moving.....it was like it was glass :)

Knock on wood we have never missed a port due to bad weather....I wouldn't mind the ship bypassing Jamaica from now on ;)

Thanks for following my review. I will post a few pics showing how smooth the waters were
Really??? I was on this same cruise with you, and we commented many times during the first few days how rough the seas were, huge swells, made sitting on our cove balcony not enjoyable at all. Maybe all in perspective, with being down low to the water (when in a cove). We also thought it was very windy for most of the time. However, there was not much movement on the ship, which is always a contributing factor to how people pay attention to the seas! yes..it was a great cruise and would do it all again in a heartbeat!
  7. are you getting the price rate reduction even if it is a gty booking offered? I'm confused! On my sailing on the Valor in August, it is only offering this sale on gty cabins...we are booked, and don't really care if we stay in same cabin...so I wonder how this may work for me? The price drop is just over $200 from what I paid!

  8. For the flamenco show you MUST call to reserve it specifically. You can make a reservation online for dinner but you have to call and tell them you want to be seated for the show. The show is in a separate room.

Puerto Rico isn't international. I had no charges with using my phone to call to Puerto Rico and when I was there. I have ATT. They answer in spanish but will switch to english.

The show itself is free. You just have to order a dinner which is moderately priced. The menu is online. The show is worth it. :)

I don't know how fast they fill up. I called about 1.5 months in advance.

Thanks for the information! I'm in Canada, so not sure about 'international rates'! Maybe I'll have a friend in the US call for me! :)

  9. We had reservations for the night we flew into San Juan, but because our plane was late arriving, we missed our reservation to Barrachina's. Our driver, called the restaurant and was able to get our party of six a table to see the Flamenco Dancers. It pays to know the right people it seems.

If you want to see the show, it begins at 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday nights only. You can reserve a table here:http://www.barrachina.com/indexb.php. Just click on the "Online Reservations" to reserve your table.

    Thanks for the information!!

  10. Thanks for doing this great review! We are doing this same itinerary in August and I'm so glad I found this! Giving me lots of ideas of what to do for the 2 days pre-cruise! We have been to SJ a couple of times, so some new ideas are a must! :) One question, when you went to see the flamenco dancers, is it included in the price of dinner? How far in advance is the recommendation for reservation? Can you make reservations via email????

  11. I was so excited to visit Aruba! We booked an island tour, and to be very honest, I was so let down. :( I knew there was desert, and cactus, and rocks, and dust....but not like what I saw there. That said, we met people who went to the beach and loved it. So....next visit...we will skip any island tour and head straight to the beach. I hate to admit it, but Aruba was absolutely my least favourite island I have ever visited.

  12. We had wanted to spend time at Bamboo Beach Club also but also never received any return emails. It appears that they are so hooked up with cruise ship excursions that they are unable to accommodate cruise ship passengers unless on a ship excursion. So...we are going to Bamboo Blu on Monday and it gets great reviews on Trip Advisor. Can't wait. We would much rather be spending time at a beach that is not the destination of the cruise line excursion. Hope this helps. Cherie

I have been told that Bamboo Blu is the same place as Bamboo Beach Club....please let us know! :)

  13. We are looking to find out if anyone has gone here on their own. Carnival has this as an excursion at about $55 pp, but it is only 4 hours (including transportation, alcohol and food). BUT, we would like to go and spend more time there. Has anyone done this? I am having trouble getting a response from the Beach Club about how much a taxi would cost. I also asked about their a la carte menu, so, if anyone knows anything about Bamboo Beach Club, I'm all ears!!!!!! Thanks

  14. This is a great review! I am interested in seeing some of your photos! You have me intrigued!! I also tend to agree about Guy's. Although they are good burgers, I too was not thrilled. My opinion is also 'blah'. My husband on the other hand raves about them. If anything, I like just the meat patty, no bun, nothing....nice for a snack when getting back onboard after a long day! My two cents!

  15. I hope you have a wonderful day. We love Chankanaab and it's my favorite place so far in Cozumel. :)

i just read your review of the dolphin swim....did they let you bring your waterproof camera in the water with the dolphins?????????
