1.
Wonder if they still have the Indian vegetarian option
No Stu, I do not believe that they do. :( That said, there were certain "indian type" foods available a couple of nights, if memory serves me correctly.
  2. no problems! I felt that the CHOICES on the menu had diminished, but not the service itself. The new tables ARE without tablecloths, which did not bother me at all. I don't have a tablecloth on my table at home, and Im sure it is a way of saving CCL some money. The whole dining room looks different, not formal. BUT, that does not take away from the experience of having your dinner served to you by a smiling face! For picky eaters or those who cannot or do not like seafood, pork etc, the choices may be limited. For instance, my 19 year old daughter is very picky. Does not like food with sauce or spice. She likes PLAIN FOOD...that said, she ate mashed potatoes. period. almost every day. But, she went to the deli and got her standby of a turkey on a country roll, every. day.
  3. I was told you don't have to share even if more than one person at the table orders the same sides/appetizers.

I have an immune system issue, and choose not to share anything while eating, even with my family. I'm intending to inform my waiter and hope for no problems.

you will have absolutely NO PROBLEMS! They are not forcing anything on you....i don't understand the change in serving procedure...but you can get served the way you are used to with no issue! Enjoy your cruise! :)

  4. I was on the Glory the first week that this new menu/serving idea came out.

In my opinion, the food quality was still what we expect from Carnival, which to me is perfectly fine! :) We have never gone hungry on a cruise and always found something to eat at each mealtime.

What was different was the options they offered and the way they served them. Many of the 'old favourites' were gone, but there were many new alternatives too. The only thing that we were expected to share, and no different than before was the bread basket. IF MORE THAN ONE PERSON at the table wanted caesar salad or calamari, THEN they brought out a large portion for sharing. IF MORE THAN ONE PERSON ordered the same side dish, THEN they brought out a large portion. Otherwise, everyone got their own. It was not a 'free for all' or 'grab fest' as some people seem to be envisioning.

It is different, it is new....and I can promise you that once those who have sailed many times before on Carnival adjust to the change, everyone will be happy. The servers really were trying very hard that first week, and succeeded to keep everyone in our party happy. Go with an open mind, expect the change and just enjoy!!!!

  5. I was on this cruise as well. The food quality, plating etc was just fine. We always enjoyed the food. The options were not plentiful. My daughter is very picky and she ate mashed potatoes most evenings...period...a big bowl of mashed potatoes. They did allow her to order from the kids menu and she got chicken nuggets one night (she is 18). The first elegant night was disasterous and seemed as tho the servers didn't know what they were doing. The 'family style' was not great. If two people ordered the same side option, they brought a larger bowl and put it in the middle of the table. Our experience was that they did not even offer serving utensils, just help yourself. Thankfully, we were all family. As for the dancing etc from the waitstaff...it was poor. We always have enjoyed it, but they did a lame dance one night, they did one dance that wasn't terribly energetic and then sang Leaving on a Funship the last night. All in all, we were disappointed with the dining options. For new cruisers who don't know any different, I'm sure they are the ones that will think it was great, but for those that know better...not so much

  6. I spent some time this morning looking at possibilities for excursions! I know it is a long way off yet, but I like to be on top of the game! There are some very good ones out there! I am intrigued by one in Antigua "Lawrence of Antigua" and it almost sounds like you can get your own private tour, if you have the numbers to do so. Has anyone started giving any thought to excursions?

  7. I haven't been here in ages! I still have to finish our deposit..I read some of you talking about the Mastercard offer..I did this a year ago when they offered it, and it was 100% legit! I got $50 OBC when we registered at the ship with my MC! I wish it was valid til March 16th tho, as that is the date we board the Miracle for Panama! Figures! One lousy day!

I look forward to hanging out some on that HUGE BALCONY too!!!

We are recently back from the Splendor to Mexican Riviera! It was a great cruise and we spent 3 days in Long Beach prior to embarkation! It was great!

Are most of you changing over to ES for this B2B? We got in under the wire with the FCC, and bought 2 more. I think I will use one of them for the 8 day on this cruise.

We did book another cruise while onboard the Splendor (Liberty, September 2013) and we immediately got $100 OBC for that one. We also were given 2 Friends and Family Certificates. I hope I can convince someone to join us! Always nice to sail with some friends! :)

  8. Hi Sandy. I am doing better myself. It is five weeks post surgery for me. At therapy they finally measured my bend and the therapist said I would be disappointed. I said just tell me what it is, and he said 115!!! I almost cried. I have no pain just some stiffness still, but that is from the scar tissue. The therapist can pop it loose in spots but I haven't been able to do that myself. I don't press as hard because I know my incision is still tender. I saw my doctor tuesday, and he said I was doing well and could start driving, but I haven't done that yet. I think it will be hard to get in driver side since it was my right knee that was replaced. I am glad to hear you are doing alot better. My cousin had his right knee replaced six weeks ago and his left knee done yesterday. NO WAY I could have done that. Take care, and fellow cruisers on here, sorry we talk about our knees...we are just getting healthy for our next cruise!!!:-)

Glad to hear everyone is doing well (including all of your knees!!!) I had the pleasure of meeting Amy and Austin last week in NYC! We had a lovely lunch and spent some time getting to know each other a little better (in person!) before this sailing! Have a Happy Friday the 13th everyone! Beautiful day here in Southern Ontario! :)
