  1. I suppose what I was leading to was that you would be really doing it on the cheap if you did 15 x 1 day cruises in an inside cabin to get to Elite status. I would think your 5 one day cruises in a mini suite would be a fair bit more expensive. Maybe we should start a thread for people to advise how much it cost them in cruises to attain Elite status.:)

  2. Just further to my post reply earlier, I always declare, if asked, that I am carrying drugs and the explanation that they are medication for personal use always seems to be accepted without further question. But as I said previously, I always have the letter from my doctor as back-up just in case. In addition it is probably important only to be carrying sufficient to cover the period of time you are away from your home.:)

  3. In Australia it is always suggested that if you are travelling overseas and carrying medications to also carry a letter from your doctor listing the medications and the condition they are for. For all the overseas trips I have done I have always done this, but I must say that when I have offered to show the letter at customs/immigration etc no-one has ever asked to see it. Better to be safe than sorry though.:)

  4. If I am reading this correctly - does that mean I could attain Elite status after 15 one day cruises? Unbelievable!!!! Not that it concerns me as I am working towards Elite status with 122 days after my next cruise. By the way, I hate that terminology 'Elite' status and I wish they would change it to some other precious metal (Diamond, Sapphire or anything else). In this world of ours we do not need elitism and all its meanings.:)

  5. There have been many, many, many threads on the topics you have raised. I am sure that if the responses above have not satisfied you, if you scroll through the threads you will be able to find suitable answers to your questions.:)

  6. I continue to be amazed at the number of times tipping comes up. Can't people read all the previous posts. If you want to tip extra, just do it. I can't help thinking that some people just want to big-note themselves by telling us all that they tip extra - big deal. Just leave the auto gratuities on and leave it at that. If you want to big-note yourself then tip extra.:)
  7. I think a lot of you people in the US and other places seem to be a lot luckier than us in Australia when dealing with travel agents. I have yet to find a travel agent than will give me anything. Also their prices are no better than what Princess have done. I must say I usually find Princess pretty good to deal with direct.:)

  8. Let me ask another question - Is it going to rain on 2th July 2019? I really do need to know as I do not want to get wet. I'm sure someone will be able to help me. Where about I hear you ask - that doesn't matter - anywhere will do.:)

  9. Without doubt do both sides. Yes there is a lot more walking to do on the Argentinian side than the Brazil side. Most people say the Argentina side is the only one to do - I beg to differ. IMHO the Brazil side was possibly the more spectacular of the two sides and certainly not one to be missed so do both sides, you wont be sorry. Yes, I have seen Niagara Falls as well and they were also spectacular (particulalry in winter when we were there) but Iguazu was something very special.:)

  10. This is a difficult one to answer as everyone's tolerance with inuendos etc is different. Personally I think you need to be careful. I must say that I have experienced a number of shows where I would feel uncomfortable having my early teenage grandaughters being there. I agree that they will hear a lot in the school grounds and also on television/movies but it is not the same as having it put to you in a show. Most performers do more than one show so maybe you could check it out then make up your mind for the second show. As I said, not an easy one. You may call me a bit of a prude but I have heard very few stand up comics that pass the test.:)

  11. Is this recent, since January? If not, it must be different for overseas cards, as we used our chip/signature card in Australia and New Zealand in January without problem - in hotels, restaurants, and shops.

That's interesting because I am pretty certain the change for us would have been well before January - at least last year sometime.:)

  12. I'm not sure what the situation is with the use of overseas credit cards in Australia, but in Australia we no longer have signatures for credit card use and you must use a PIN. That is unless it is for a fairly small amount - I think less than $100 then you can most times just get away with tapping the card on the reader and not even have to put in your PIN.

  13. Someone has said that the guide was stopped a few years ago - I'm not sure that is strictly correct. We were on the Golden 18 months ago around South America and had a printed booklet. I must say though that while our cruise was 31 days it was actually a 15 day and 16 day cruise and we didn't get the guide until we were 4 or 5 days into each of the cruises. It is interesting to hear the comments that they have now stopped printing the guide altogether.:)

  14. I have been monitoring (almost daily) the cabin prices for the PNG cruise with Princess departing Sydney in April 2017. Overnight (literally - I checked it yesterday) the price of the inside cabin in the category I have been watching has risen $640 per person - that's an increase of approx. 23% in one foul swoop. Looks like its good bye to that cruise.:)
