On the chance that we were really unlucky and both the above went missing ,

we also have our surname and mobile contact number printed out on A4 paper

left inside the case ,stating please contact in an emergency .

That, though, is only of use if somebody can open the case, and yes I know that most locked cases can be opened by a 10 year old child!

If (I know it is an "if" so far) they have tightened up on bringing alcohol onboard, what's the score with alcohol free wine? Cunard do have some alcohol free wine but apart from the rose, it's not to my taste so I was thinking of bringing a couple of bottles of AF red and an AF fizz. I assume I'll still need to pay corkage if we want to drink it with dinner. Or will we?

Those are questions that only Cunard can answer and it would not surprise me to find that you will get one answer from shoreside and a totally different one when onboard.

Technically, I believe, that 0% alcohol wine is still classed as wine so it is anybodies guess as to how it is treated.

Is it worth waiting 3 weeks before the cruise to get deals

A lot depends on what you want, where you want to go and when you want to go.

If you just want a last minute cruise to go anywhere at any time then you may get a deal. If, on the other hand, you have something specific in mind then waiting for a deal is probably not the best option.

It all comes down to the old adage - if it is what you want and you are happy with the price then go for it. The price might go down next week but equally the price may go up next week.

  4. It is pot luck as to which side will be best for views in port. Although the naming of one side of the ship is "port" for a good reason these days the ship can dock either side depending on the port, timings and tides.

If you are doing a round trip cruise then for the purposes of getting the sun on your balcony it will make little difference as you would get it one way or the other.

Yes, but the security guards handcuffed to the passenger wearing it would be less than conducive to a splendid evening on QA.🥴

That might depend on who the security guards are😇

  6. I doubt for one minute that anybody will have that information and it certainly will not be public.

Out of interest why does it matter - either accept that you pay it and not worry about it or have it removed and pay whoever you want whatever you want.

Thank you . I can’t see it will be value money for me. I renew in October and I think I will end up just taking out an annual policy elsewhere when I factor in the £13 a month for the account and potentially £27 to £40 per cruise it could be more expensive.

That is dependant on personal circumstances such as age and medical conditions. I can save well over £1000 compared to an annual insurance policy.

  8. For many years now, both cruising and non cruising, we have packed clothes on their hangers - far quicker packing and especially unpacking. Just remove the "provided" hangers and put then in an empty case for the duration of the cruise

Found this link which discusses vegetarian and vegan options on P and O

The only thing I would say about that is that it is dated 2019 which is pre Covid and a lot has changed since the restart.

the floor was moving about. Does anyone else get this?

I can get that without going anywhere near a ship, but the empty wine bottles may have something to do with it😂

  11. The wardrobe issue is nothing to do with ship design - it is the same in many land based hotels. Obviously those who design hotel/ship wardrobe spaces never use them.

I'm sure it would help if the designers of ship's interiors actually spent some time on a cruise before creating their designs.

  12. I cannot recall ever seeing any vegan dishes on the Epicurean menu - there may possibly be a vegetarian one. The problem I suspect would be that as it is a small galley with a small menu actually creating a vegan dish without cross contamination might prove difficult.

Perhaps somebody on board at the moment could ask for you.

If you are on a B2B cruise and you buy duty free, are you allowed to collect it on the last night of the first leg and drink it in your cabin on the second leg. We are doing 2 weeks followed by 5 weeks so a bottle or two to drink during the cruise would be very acceptable.

    I would guess - yes.

I doubt that the systems are so sophisticated that they would be aware that you are doing a B2B - the only way to find out is to try it.

OK you can buy spirits on board but though they may be supermarket prices they won't be anywhere  near duty free prices

Not sure that is always true. I have seen items in the onboard duty free shop cheaper than at some of the ports' duty free shops.

businesses tend to prefer a politely worded complaint to them, which gives them a chance to fix the situation

Tried that on more than one occasion with P&O and nothing changes - gave up in the end (which may be the plan!)

I'm not even sure I would have ticked it had I chosen Select when I first booked

From memory the box it already ticked and you have to untick it if you don't want an upgrade (very easy to miss) and as far as I can recall it does not show anywhere which option you have selected.

Also once you have completed your online booking there is no online option to change it - you have to phone the call centre

Whilst booking a Princess cruise this morning I was discussing with the TA that I wasn't getting any Captain Circle discount when trying to book on the web site. Seemingly I have two Captain Circle numbers and one of them has me as blue level with the other being Elite. The plot thickens.

How did you find the two numbers

Does P&O have anyone answering the phone these days?

I've tried calling 3 times this week and each time been on hold for up to an hour!

Not until you have been on hold for 61 minutes😂😂
