  1. We also cancelled our May Galapagos cruise on Flora for various reasons, so do not cruise until Oct for b2b/TA. At least that is the plan as I write this. TBD!
  2. 154 - b2b/TA for 26 days on Apex and time in Italy - Eastern Med and back to FLL. Lots more to come with Europe, NZ/AUS and Caribbean. Trying new ships and more b2b/TA's...that's the plan, but anything can happen!
  3. I was wondering how all of that would work, but it looks like, in a way, the OP was lucky that this happened before boarding, along with the MoveUp bid being refunded with cruise. I can only imagine the disappointment. So many of us have escaped the dreadful curse of Covid, but my doctor believes that it is only a matter of time before it happens; many could also just be A-symptomatic too. Thanks so much for sharing your story! Good luck with everything else and feel better soon.
  4. Exactly, but thinking outside the box was a grest idea that did help three individuals. I was in no way referring to the others in the MDR. I was specifically congratulating what she did about her and her friends' situation. I think you need to direct your concern to Celebrity and not to me. I wasn't on the cruise, but very aware of the issues, as I plan for my b2b/TA in October, in an SV and a corner aft suite. I have learned a lot from those who have been cruising and continue to learn on these boards. Trust me, if there was a way that I could make things better for the masses, I certainly would; however, I do this on a daily basis for students at my high school - listen to their issues and help them to solve, as many as, possible! I just loved her strategy and applauded what Happy Cruiser 6143 did! Honestly, I really do not "believe" that you meant to in any way hold me responsible. My salary does not compare to LLP's...Have a good day!
  5. Ahh, those warm almond croissants make any day special. You definitely seized the day! You also turned a negative into a positive with access to Luminae.
  6. I can see both sides of the issue, as my DH and I just had this discussion yesterday. I think the OP's point and her concern are valid. Service and quality is a trademark of Celebrity. Her point was that the crew were being stretched way too thin and more than the "new normal." I totally understand the effects of Covid and how it relates to the supply chain issues, but there is a point where many cruisers are asking themselves what can be done about the service and quality of cruising with not only Celebrity, but other lines too. There is nothing wrong, IMHO, with having a constructive and factual discussion about this from both sides, especially regarding suites. That is the purpose of these boards.
  7. Upgrades are contracted out to a private company. So, you are saying that Celebrity then decides who to shuffle? Have not heard of that until you mentioned it. Do you know that for sure, or just speculation on your part? If so, this would be a change, as I am hoping you read a previous thread...we really love having the facts posted on CC!
  8. It seems that cruising definitely needs higher level thinkers; however, many do just fine flying by the seat of their pants. I'll chose to plan ahead and have several choices with lots of information, phone numbers, a high limit credit card, along with and a variety of meds. Yes, I will purchase insurance and understand that there are still things out of my control. However, I will not stop cruising test or no test!
  9. I am looking forwad to my cruises on Beyond. Very first one is in a SV with a SS for the TA part of b2b on deck 11... WooHoo! Many thanks for all the information and photos, as it is always crazy on the first few cruises.
  10. Did we hit the bottom yet? I have been buying very little, but sold a lot before everything went down to the basement. I am wondering if there is a basement below that one. I am bleeding on a few, just not Celebrity yet!
  11. No worries at all. The SS is lovely; CS is nice, but just a very small bathroom. RS has a tiny balcony, especially for this upper suite. No worries at all, but getting an RS when you did not even bid for it is not the norm. I hope this person returns to share more information about how this happened bcause some do really get a great deal! I just want a villa, but am not paying full price for it. Maybe Celebrity will comp it for me!!!!!
  12. I will definitely miss my cruise on Flora; we were leaving home on 5/25, but needed to leave for Michigan for my dad's celebration of life, in early June, to accomodate family from all over the place. I am hoping to try again in the future, but have so many other cruises booked. Thanks for sharing your review, as I know it is an exceptional cruise, unlike any other offered!
  13. Just use Google...I found many places and information! Even TripAdvisor has info'. For Rome, I have to test two days before our cruise.
  14. So, you are not allowed more for vacation or save some extra? It is a pain to bring so many different meds, but the alternative isn't good at all! Good luck!
  15. Just wondering if you changed the dates due to weather or something else...I have the two cruises you originally booked. Thanks!
  16. Go suite or go home! Just kidding, but I have never had a cruise in a suite that I did not enjoy. However, the price when doing b2b's for me is to add on a SV rather than two suites. That way I still have two balcony cabins, which is very important to me. I think you will enjoy either one, but yes, price is important too. It sounds like you want to, at the very least, try a suite! Enjoy!
  17. Whether you agree or disagree with comments on this thread, the information is vital in knowing what people are thinking, along with what they are doing. Again, we all have choices to make about ourselves and about others. Choose wisely, travel safely and stay home if this is not for you. Information is power!
  18. We are booked on a b2b in 2024 with friends!
  19. How about Covid Retreat? Maybe Number Five? The Cancellation? Okay, I'll stop this nonsense.
  20. I will add that there are an abundance of people who did make it home without having Covid interrupt their vacations. Both sides of the Covid story need to be told: however, taking precautions, IMHO, is the way to go if you are traveling. Many thanks to all that have posted factual information on this thread. No one can make that choice for you, but being prepared is a no-brainer, especially instead of thinking that these circumstances could never happen because...talk to your doctor and do your homework!
  21. You do have time to use and book, especially when a multitude of cruises are booked; I did he same thing, as CA was a nightmare!
  22. I agree totally! Yes, sometimes one has to admit defeat, but not until it is absolutely necessary!
  23. Sorry, Evana, my comment was actually to OP, bananavan.
  24. I cancelled a cruise on her and booked Edge instead because suites had not been refurbished, along with a few other reasons; however, I really enjoyed cruising on her a few years ago, along with my DH. Both of us may cruise again on her in the future. We are still do the ABC islands at the very beginning of January, 2023.
  25. Evana, just to clarify, in no way was I being irreverent to you when I mentioned to someone what plans my husband and I were making for our b2b in October. Our concierge doctor is a wealth of information regarding Covid, so having his knowledge beforehand and meds is very important to us, not to mention if we need his connections. I have been following your thread and others to glean must needed information for our trip because I think it is very important to know and understand what could happen. You are sharing valuable information, things that I would have never thought of by myself. I am so thankful for this, and only wish you well, as previously stated. Learning from you and your ongoing experiences has been eye-opening to say the least. Thank you so much for sharing. I wish you only the best, hoping that things steadily improve for you both, along with others who are also in this awful situation. The decision to cruise during these times should never be taken lightly; planning for a cruise has become so much more difficult...thank you!
