  1. from the PTZ camera . . . it cut off at the bottom.
  2. Sounds like serious trouble with the 17th Street Bridge.
  3. It sounds like she'll be getting under way soon.
  4. But of course, I hadn't even thought of that. I'm sure he'd love knowing the Celebration of Life for him would be held in a place so dear to his heart.
  5. Good morning, thanks for the Daily! I'm a little late to the party today - spent a good deal of the night coughing, so didn't get a lot of sleep. When I did open my eyes, our bedroom was flooded with sunlight and I felt like I'd missed a good portion of the day. I worked with a lady who suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. Bless all the nurses around the world for all they do for people in the worst of times. Limericks seem to be a thing of the past; I can't think of one that isn't somewhat risque. LOL I think today's quote summed up Marilyn Monroe quite well; I wish she had more people around her that were supportive of her, rather than those who just took advantage of her. Not a lot on the agenda today; yesterday we went out and picked up a couple more hanging baskets to put in the back yard, but because the temps hover near freezing overnight, our deck is looking like a florist's shop. We don't usually put plants out for the season until after the May long weekend, so we'll just have to continue putting them out and taking them in daily. There's a weather system coming through from the US that could bring a lot of rain to the SE part of the province, but it looks like we're just on the edge of it. Hopefully it won't result in flooding, as the farmers need to get out and get their crops seeded. @kazupace yourself; Rome wasn't built in a day. And remember you're planting for yourself and you'll have to tear everything down at the end of season, so there's that. @rafinmdhopefully your ear problem will be resolved. It's a good idea to have your final arrangements in place so those left behind won't wonder what you wanted. @dfish hopefully your appt with the surgeon will provide good results for you. @smitty34877sending good vibes to your DD and her surgical team today. @StLouisCruisers best wishes for success at the oral surgeon for your DH. I like today's menu suggestion, as I love a caprese salad, so why not put it into a quesadilla? We've pretty much chickened ourselves out with the one we purchased from Costco, so will leave that out, but DH suggested bacon instead. Why not; is there anything that bacon can't go into? It'll be Bacon Caprese Quesadillas happening on our dinner table tonight. And wine. Prayers for all who need them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for our Daily family with health issues and personal struggles. Extra also for the people of Ukraine and all they're having to deal with. We'll clink the glasses together to celebrate all on the happy list. Stay safe, get your boosters, wear your masks when you need to, and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  6. Sorry you had to cancel your cruises, but you do what's best for the two of you. Best wishes for successful surgery - DH had his done a few years ago and says it was life changing, as he has no more pain. As mentioned above, doing the exercises and having the ice water circulation machine both played a great part in his recovery process.
  7. Happy Birthday @kplady with many more returns of the day! @HAL Sailergood for you for jumping at the chance to get away with your DH; that's a long distance with only one driver!
  8. Good morning, thanks for the Daily! We pretty much eat what we want every day - within limits, of course. A good receptionist is worth their weight in gold . . . ever try to get past one to see someone in an office? Bless the school nurses, although there are very few of them around any more due to budget cutbacks. Not so sure I agree with today's quote; sometimes it's just the exact opposite. Well I think we're done with the outdoor furniture for this year. DH and I put together the pieces we purchased the day before and are pleased with our selection. We ended up shuffling sets around and now we'll be able to enjoy the lovely rockers while sitting at our front entry reading the morning paper and enjoying our coffee. Now we just have to wait for the guy to come and repair the roof of our deck so we can have the entire deck to ourselves, rather than sharing it with buckets to contain the leaks when it rains. Welcome back @marshhawk; we tried not to have too much fun while you were away. @kazuit's good to see you posting with memes. I know how much red tape there is when dealing with estate issues and it makes it even harder when there are so many emotions involved. @St Pete Cruiserthanks for the photos of sail away from Venice; we've been fortunate to have sailed from there twice, and have such lovely memories. Today's menu suggestion really brought back some memories - I recall my Mom making Green Goddess salad dressing at home using sour cream and an assortment of herbs that she grew in our garden. Of course there weren't any food processors then, so all the herbs had to be chopped by hand - it was truly a labour of love. I like today's menu suggestion, but there's still chicken in the fridge so we'll finish it off tonight by having chicken Caesar salads for dinner tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for our Daily family with health issues and personal struggles. We'll raise our glasses together to salute all on the celebration list. Stay safe, get your boosters, wear masks when you need to, and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  9. Good morning, thanks for the Daily! Some days I'd love to have someone come in and clean up my room. I think it's time I started going through things and culling what's not really needed - like photos of my friends in grade 7 - yes, really. We certainly saw the value of supporting small businesses during the Covid lockdown. Over the years, DH has learned to trust my intuition, as it's been very accurate. Well yesterday turned out to be a good one for us, as we were able to locate a nice little cafe set for our back yard. While we were at a large home centre looking at garden furniture, a lady who was also shopping there mentioned she had just picked up a great set at a small garden centre a few blocks away. We had nothing to lose, so we went over there and it was like hitting the jackpot! This little place had so many different pieces from sectionals that would seat 12 to tiny little bistro sets. We finally settled on 2 rocking chairs with ultra comfy cushions with a table big enough to set a couple of drinks and plates on. That's all we really need, instead of a settee and a couple of chairs. Today we'll put them together and see how they look. How's the price of gas in your area? Ours is going up by another 10 - 15 cents in the next couple of days. I just figured out that the people in BC are currently paying $2.22 per litre which translates to over $10 CAD per imperial gallon. Yikes! We are definitely going to be planning our trips to be sure to get everything done in one fell swoop, rather than heading out a couple of times a day to various locations. @kazuit's so nice to see you back again; take your time with your tasks and they'll eventually get finished. I think we've been sort of forgetting that @Rowsbyalso lost her DH last month and is navigating the same waters; I hope she's doing alright. I'm not a fan of the drink (bourbon), but would definitely like to try the wine. Because we're carnivores, I'm going to take a pass on today's menu suggestion. Yesterday's trip to Costco yielded the rotisserie chicken, so we'll be having sliced chicken sandwiches and coleslaw for dinner tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for the people of Ukraine and all who are providing assistance to them. We'll clink the glasses together to celebrate all on the happy list. Stay well, wear your masks when you need to, get your boosters and be safe. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  10. Good morning, thanks for the Daily! I'm pretty sure one day scientists will discover a black hole in space that is filled with single socks. Where else could they go? The last mattress we bought (a Simba) had a sewn-on tag, so it's staying. Women need to be reminded that we should go for regular check-ups. Often we're too busy taking care of others that we neglect our own health. Welcome back @kazu and @cat shepard, you were missed. Both of you know that this is a safe place to come to whether it's daily or only occasionally, as you check in to see what the rest of us are doing. My prayers are for both of you as you find your way through the days ahead. Yesterday was a nice Mother's Day with flowers, dinner, telephone calls, and lovely sunshine. We did have one glitch though, as we attempted a second try at assembling the chairs for the new patio conversation set. It didn't matter how we tried, the screws and openings just wouldn't line up - after an hour of frustration with both of us trying to get things done, I called the garden centre and told them we were returning the whole set. We disassembled the settee, put all the pieces, along with the cushions, into the back of the SUV and left them at the store. I told DH maybe next time we'll pay an extra couple of hundred dollars and get the thing assembled and delivered. He didn't disagree. LOL Now we have to shop for another set; we'll see what happens. I like today's quote; you really do feel safe when you hear someone you love talking about you. If the drink of the day isn't too sweet, I think I'd add it to the list of "must try" on a BHB. I'm not sure about the price of today's wine, but it sounds like something I would like to sample. I think we would enjoy today's menu suggestion, but part of today's plan involves heading to Costco with DH's daughter, so we'll be picking up a rotisserie chicken and I'll have to figure out what else to serve with it. Hopefully there will be some asparagus and baby potatoes that I can toss into the air fryer to serve as sides. So, it's looking like a roast chicken dinner on our table tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for @kazu and @cat shepard, as well as the rest of our Daily family who are dealing with health issues and family struggles. Extra prayers for the people of Ukraine who remain strong in the face of great adversity. We'll raise our glasses to celebrate all on the happy list. Be safe, get your boosters, wear your masks when you need to, and stay well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  11. Good morning, thanks for the Daily! Happy Mother's Day to all mothers and to those who fill in for mothers as well. Irises are so pretty and are among the first flowers we see blooming every year. Thank goodness for the Red Cross and Red Crescent and for all they do for people in peril. How I hope for Victory Day for Ukraine, but fear it will be a long time coming. I chuckled when I read today's quote because for years I've said I'm pretty sure I'm going to hell, but at least I'll know people there. LOL It seems a few of us are allergic to penicillin but I'm happy to see there isn't actually any in the drink of the day. While I'm not a true fan of Laphroaig (I find it too peaty), I'd be willing to take one for the team. Today the house is filled with flowers and their scents - I received 3 lovely bouquets yesterday; one from DH, a second from our Chinese daughter, and a third from our son and his family. @0106 I love the cat meme; I'm going to steal it, as it's so funny! I like today's menu suggestion (minus the avocado), but know DH would want it with scrambled eggs, as he almost shivers when he has to eat a yolk. I think I'll take a pass on making it, but I may order it if I see it on a menu though! Because it's Mother's Day, I've got the day off from the kitchen. I'm pretty sure DH has plans of ordering in Chinese food, as we haven't had it in ages. It's looking like Chinese food will be on our dinner table tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for our Daily family who are struggling with loss and illness in their families and friends. Extra also for the people of Ukraine and all they're having to endure. We'll clink our glasses together to salute all on the celebration list. (As I don't follow horse racing, I had to look up who Rich Strike was!) Stay safe, wear your masks when you need to, get your boosters, and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  12. @Horizon chaser 1957I'm sorry to hear you've both contracted Covid after being so careful. I am glad, however, it doesn't seem to be as harsh as others have reported; hopefully it will end quickly. @JazzyVHappy Angel Birthday to your mom. How fortunate for both of you she was able to adopt you - it couldn't have been easy for a single woman to adopt a child back then. I'm sure she's proud of the woman you've become. @grapau27I hope the medical appointment next week can bring some relief to your knee problem.
  13. Good morning, thanks for the Daily! I was fortunate to meet my birth mother and although she chose to have no further contact, I was able to thank her for her brave decision to give me up, as I was adopted into a wonderful family. I haven't read an actual comic book in years - in fact I almost fainted when I saw the cost of one at the grocery store! I love fresh herbs and will be getting a couple of pots from the greenhouses soon so I can always have some on hand. I've never been a fan of horse racing, but know the Kentucky Derby is a big one! The quote by Marilyn Monroe is quite cynical, don't you think? We were in Tallinn, Estonia in August, 2011 on the Rotterdam VI. Great memories from that cruise; thanks @StLouisCruisersfor the photos. Well DH didn't have to go and sleep in the recliner chair last night, so I think his cold has taken a turn. @rafinmdI believe you can take us off the care list, as there are many more who need the prayers than we do; thank you for even putting us on it. We tried putting the two chairs together to finish off the new deck furniture, and wouldn't you know, the holes for the screws simply would not line up . . . I called the store where we purchased the set and was told to bring the offending pieces back and they would replace them for us, so that's what we did. It was pretty frustrating, but we're hopeful the new pieces will fit together properly. I think in order to save DH some annoyance, I'll call his son over to see if he will put the chairs together for us. LOL I'm pretty sure I'd like to try today's menu suggestion if it was offered to me, but I don't know how quickly I'd try making it myself. Right now there are a couple of chicken breasts thawing that will be crumb coated and tossed into the air fryer. Chicken, fresh green beans and garlic mashed potatoes will be what's on our dinner table tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for our Daily family who have suffered loss, and those who are struggling with health issues. We'll raise our glasses together to celebrate all on the happy list. Stay safe, get your boosters, wear your masks when you need to, and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  14. As others have said, we also have stayed onshore during an overnight visit. In our case it was an overnight in Bangkok where we took a 2 day private tour with about 12 other people from the ship. We let Guest Services and our cabin stewards know we wouldn't be returning until the following day and it wasn't an issue. Hopefully Covid hasn't changed things for you.
  15. Welcome to the Daily, Helen, you'll find this is a great group of people. We've seen each other through ups and downs - and there have been many of both during the pandemic lockdown and following days, weeks, months, and now years. How fortunate you were to have cruised with Jacqui and Jose; we too, were looking forward to meeting both of them, as I'm sure DH would have enjoyed their company as much as I. While my DH is probably a poor substitute for Jose, we will be sailing with you on the Oosterdam in November, and look forward to meeting both of you. Gerry
  16. Good morning, thanks for the Daily! My beverage of choice for early in the morning is Bigelow I Love Lemon Tea, which reminds me, I have to order more as I'm almost out of it. Bless all the child care providers out there - what would parents do without them? And nurses - the heroes of the pandemic deserve accolades beyond belief. We had a beautiful sunny day yesterday where the temp did hit +27C; it just happened to occur on the day when we had 4 young men come to wash all the outside the windows for us. Now we can see clearly again! DH decided yesterday was also the day we should set up the patio furniture we'd purchased on sale a couple of months ago. Well, he didn't think about the fact that he'd had very little sleep the past few nights due to his coughing, so by the time we had put together the settee, he was exhausted. At least we got it set up on the deck and were able to sit on it before nightfall. Just to be sure, I re-tested him last night and he's still showing negative for Covid. This time I had him swab both his throat and cheek instead of tickling his brain, thinking it might give a different outcome. Thankfully it didn't, so it's just a bad cold. I'm going to give today's menu suggestion a pass, as neither of us is a fan of salted fish. The drink, however, intrigues me, so I might put it on my list of cocktails to try on a BHB. I'm pretty sure I'd like the wine. LOL @HeartgroveI'm sorry to hear about your sister; it's hard knowing a sibling's time is quickly coming to an end. @dfishI can't believe what a letdown your quilting conference has been for you - from having to room with a complete stranger to your machine not functioning. You need a holiday on a BHB after this, I'm sure! Friday night pizza night at our house, so I'll let DH check the online menus to see what appeals to him and will order that for us for dinner. We'll be able to eat on the deck for the first time in months, which will be a real treat. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for @kazu who will need them even more now as she deals with life on her own. Extra also for the people of Ukraine and all who are providing assistance to them. We'll clink our glasses together to cheer on all who make up the happy list. Be safe, get your boosters, wear your masks when you need to, and stay well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  17. Well that certainly is good news! Thanks for sharing it with us!
