  1. Rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit! Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! Girlfriends (and sometimes boyfriends) make great confidants and I'm happy to have a few of them. I'd like to learn to play Mahjong one day - I've only ever played the game on my iPad and it's just matching tiles. Definitely not into mountain climbing, although if you do go on a hike, bring a camera or binoculars so you can stop from time to time and it looks like you're admiring the view, rather than gasping for air. @marshhawkI'm happy to hear you're giving up the dog walking thing; you're doing your neighbour a favour at your expense. @kazuthanks for sharing the photos of your beautiful flowers - I know they don't just "happen", they take work and you're to be commended for it. Is that a hibiscus in the hanging pot? And thanks for the pic of Shadow as well - I hope it doesn't take too long before she realizes she's in the best place ever! It's another warm, humid day here on the "frozen tundra"; the humidity is at 85% which to us just feels weird. LOL I know the rain has been welcomed by the farmers though, so we'll just have to appreciate the dampness on our skin. I really like today's menu suggestion, especially if it can be made in the air fryer. I'm going to have to tuck the recipe away for another day though, because late last night our Chinese "daughter"s father sent over a large bowl of his fabulous spicy noodle dish. My mouth is watering just thinking about it - it's made with cumin, a few hot chili peppers, thinly sliced beef, onions and celery. Yum. It'll be spicy noodles and a creamy coleslaw (to cool down the heat from the noodles) on the deck for us tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and for everyone providing assistance. We'll salute those on the celebration list with the raising of our wine glasses. Stay safe, get your boosters, wear masks when needed, be well, and hydrate! Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  2. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I think mutts make great pets and are much less demanding than purebreds. I'll leave the avocados in the store for the rest of you, but have always enjoyed a good slice of watermelon. Today's quote gave me a good chuckle - it might be me! It would be great to have one of the drinks of the day on a hot summer's day; it sounds very refreshing. We're into our second day of grey skies and intermittent rain - a welcome relief from the heat of the past few days. The people who are camping this long weekend however, aren't going to be as happy with it as some of us are. Because it's cool and rainy, we've got the windows closed on the deck, so I think I'll spend a good portion of the day out there knitting the little blankets, as they have to be dropped off to the collection point in a couple of weeks. I've got 36 done so far and hope to have another 12 finished by the time I have to drop them off. @StLouisCruiserswe also have a 180 day school year but ours begins Sept 1 and goes through until June 29th. There is a 2 week long break over Christmas/New Year, as well as a 1 week break in February and 1 week at Easter. @smitty34877sorry to hear your DH and Tana are having a rough time; hopefully their symptoms will ease soon. @kazua sad day for you - know you are in my heart as you make your way through today with Shadow. I'm thinking extra wine will be in the plans for tonight. I like today's menu suggestion, but have already decided on tonight's menu - we'll be having lemon/garlic pasta with shrimp and tossed green salad for dinner tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and all who continue to support them. We'll clink the glasses together to remember Jose and to celebrate all on the happy list. Be safe, wear masks when you need to, get your boosters and stay well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  3. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! Both of our fathers made wonderful fathers-in-law; they were helpful, loving guides without being intrusive. I'm all about friendship and treasure the ones I've made over the years. So many people look at cheesecake with stars in their eyes - for me it's a heavy end to a meal, so easily give it a pass. Oh my gosh, we've been seeing the devastating flooding taking place in Kentucky on the news - unbelievable!! I hope none of our cruising friends are involved, and grieve with those who have lost family and everything they've worked so hard for over the years. Well our hot spell has broken overnight, so this morning we're looking at grey skies, a good breeze and humidity level of 78% - everything feels sticky and I can't wait for the rain to come so it levels out again. Here on the "frozen tundra" we have a dry heat and a dry cold, so we're not used to feeling moisture on our skin! LOL @kazuYou really are an angel to Shadow; I'm sure she will soon realize you're there to help, not harm her and will submit to your loving care. @cunnorlI would love to see the bioluminescence; I've only seen it on television - I'm sure it's much more impressive in person. @smitty34877oh no, the whole family - sending prayers that you only have the mildest of cases and that it doesn't hit Tana as well. Please reach out to others around you for help while you are battling it, so you don't run yourself down trying to care for everyone in the house. Not a lot happening here today, so I think I'll finish up sewing and return the dining room table to it's original state. I discovered yesterday that my little Bernette 60 by Bernina doesn't do a decent stretch stitch, so had to use a different fabric to make the padded luggage handles. At this stage of my life, I'm not about to start buying a new model just to use stretch fabric. Although neither of us is a fan of tofu, the last one with peanut sauce does appeal to me, especially if the tofu is baked and has a crunch to it, rather than being mushy. I think I'll tuck the recipe away for another day though, as DH's daughter called last night and wants us to come over to see their new fence that has needed replacing for a long time. She's going to do a beef roast in the Instant Pot and all I have to do is bring along a salad. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and their bravery. We'll clink the glasses together to celebrate everyone on the happy list. Stay well, wear masks when needed, get your boosters, and be safe. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  4. Yes, I saw the post about Miss Dolly. May she Rest In Peace as she cruises through the heavens.
  5. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! Tigers are so majestic, I love seeing them. I'm a huge fan of chicken wings, but prefer simple flavours like salt & pepper or Greek to the super hot ones. We haven't had lasagna in a long time; for me it seems like a fall/winter meal rather than one to have in the heat of summer. It's another beautiful morning out there today, clear skies, just a tickle of a breeze in the trees, and bright sunshine. We've got all the windows open for now, but will be closing them in about an hour because our temp is supposed to reach 35C (95F), and I know we'll be running the a/c for a good portion of the day. We saw the doctor yesterday about DH's leg and all is well - woo hoo! There wasn't any indication of a DVT, but it seems the swelling could have been the result of heat and a certain blood pressure medication. For the last week or so, DH has been having nightly leg cramps and I finally thought - maybe his electrolytes were out of whack, so he's been drinking Gatorade and voila! No more cramps. I mentioned it to the doctor who said that's what he would have prescribed instead of a medication. @StLouisCruisersre: the hot air balloon - we've seen them in our area a number of times, but unfortunately I didn't get a photo yesterday. @Dr.Dobrowe were on the Maasdam Feb 15 - March 6, 2019 enjoying the light show at Hong Kong as well - perhaps we sailed together? I recall being on the back deck watching the lights when we discovered the ship was being followed by a drone. At one point an officer came out to view it as well and told us "it's not one of ours" and went back inside. Not a lot going on for us today, but I've got a couple more shopping bags to put together and found some brightly coloured material that I'm going to turn into padded luggage handles for our suitcases that will hopefully be used in October/November. Although I think salmon and dill are a natural pairing, we won't be having fish soup/stew any time soon. It's Friday night so - yes, it's pizza night at our house. We'll have to check the online menus to see what appeals to us and I'm pretty sure it will be too hot to enjoy it on the deck, so it will be pizza in the pergola tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and for everyone providing aid. We'll clink the glasses to cheer on those who make up the celebration list. Stay safe, get your boosters, wear masks when needed, be well, and hydrate! Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  6. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! DH's favourite is milk chocolate, while I prefer dark - especially if it has almonds in it. We both like chocolate milk though. We used to have a great waterpark in our city "Penguin Park" that drew huge crowds. It closed suddenly when it was discovered one of the owners had been siphoning off money for needed repairs and the others couldn't afford to make them. People still talk about it today with fond memories of summers spent there. @kazuthank you for the great photos of Shadow! I hope she doesn't take long to realize she hit the jackpot when she came into your care. @smitty34877sorry to hear the teenager has tested positive; hopefully he won't feel miserable for long. @1ANGELCATsending healing vibes to Fluff for a good outcome. To all who had falls yesterday - yikes! Falls at any age can be awful, but as we get a little older, can really take a toll on our bodies. Hopefully everyone will heal quickly and fully. It's a clear, quiet day out there this morning and looking up from the computer, I see a hot air balloon almost directly over our back yard. It's a perfect morning for a ride, and I wish I was up there with them! I went up in one a number of years ago and totally enjoyed the experience; I'd love to go again. Not a lot happening here today, just making sure all the plants get watered and maybe it's time to take a wet mop to the deck floor. I'll do it later in the morning, that way it'll dry quickly and Sochi won't get to cat track all over the place. I'm not a fan of butternut squash or chick peas, so will give today's menu suggestion a pass. I've got a half pork loin that will be in the slow cooker soon and will be turned into pulled pork sandwiches this evening. Pulled pork and coleslaw will be what's happening on our table tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and all who are assisting them with their struggle. We'll raise the glasses to celebrate all on the happy list. Be safe, get your boosters, wear masks when needed, and stay well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  7. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! Twice a year we take some houseplants for a walk - in the spring when we take them out to the deck, and fall when they return to their indoor spaces. I love hearing bagpipes at the beginning of a parade; the sound just spurs a feeling of excitement in me. Walk on stilts? Uh, no. I'm interpreting today's quote to mean live in the moment and enjoy what you have. Although I enjoy scotch, I'm not a fan of Laphroaig; I find it too peaty for my taste, so I think I'd pass on today's cocktail. We were in St Petersburg for 2 days during our Baltic Cruise on the Rotterdam VI, but on the overnight, I tweaked a muscle in my back and could barely move, so I had to stay on the ship, rather than touring with the family. They were kind enough to bring back photos, postcards, and books for me to see what I'd missed. While I wasn't on stilts yesterday, I did spent a lot of time climbing up and down a stepladder. Our security camera wasn't functioning properly - it wasn't picking up motion at the front door, so I did a reset of the base station. Well that meant I had to reinstall both cameras, but it also meant they had to be within 3 meters of the base (which is in the computer room at the back of the house) in order to connect. I can't tell you how many up and downs I made to get those darn things working again, but they're done - and while I was up there, I cleaned the lenses; you should see the clear pictures we're getting now! LOL @superomaa very Happy Birthday to you with many returns of the day! @HeartgroveI'm glad you had even a short time with your brother - it's something you'll carry with you always. Even though you missed the ceremony, it sounds like you enjoyed the festivities after. @kazuI'm so excited the fact that Shadow will soon be in your care! I'm not sure about today's menu suggestion for a meal, but you never know; I think it would be great for a breakfast bread though. We had a call last night from DH's cousin and his wife who are in town for a day or two, so we're getting together at a local restaurant for dinner with them tonight. That's a good thing, because I really didn't have anything planned to cook! I'm unsure what we'll be having for dinner, but I know it will be delicious (as I don't have to cook it), and we'll be enjoying the company and long overdue visit. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and all who are providing aid. We'll raise the glasses tonight to celebrate family as well as all on the happy list. Stay safe, wear masks when needed, get your boosters, and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  8. Time for an afternoon check-in. @kochleffelthe papyrus is growing in large pots along the fence, just being watered every couple of days and additional moisture when it rains. I can't imagine how high it would grow if it was beside a pond! We've called several greenhouses to see if we could possibly over-winter the plants in the house and have been told by every one of them that we wouldn't be successful in our efforts. We'll just enjoy them while we have them and will purchase new plants in the spring. Thank you everyone for your wishes for DH's ultra sound. It went fine, and we expect to hear from the doctor tomorrow if there are any issues that need fixing. The edema has gone down and his ankle and foot look normal again. @marshhawkwow, what trauma you've experienced in your lifetime! I am sorry for all you've had to endure, but am glad you found your alternate family here with us. @Live4cruisessending gentle hugs to Mykonos; I hope you still have some happy times together. @Sharon in AZsending your healing thoughts to your Mom; hopefully it won't be too hard on her. Have a great evening, everyone!
  9. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! All or nothing worked out for us once - we were at the casino on the Rotterdam VI and decided to put our nightly $20 each into the $5 machine; 2 spins later we cashed out with $1100. I'm sure it'll never happen again. I had some lovely aunts and uncles who gave me great advice I've used over the years. I'll leave my tofu in the store for those who enjoy it. I like today's quote, as I've always loved reading - now I'm fortunate to be able to share stories I enjoyed as a child with my grandsons. We've got bright sunshine and clouds that are burning off. We had another nice rain overnight so our hot spell is over and we're back to normal summer temps with a high predicted of about 25C (75F). That means we can keep the windows open for most of the day and the water isn't going to quickly evaporate from the fountain. Has anyone in the Daily Garden Club ever grown King Tut papyrus? We have 3 plants this year and holy smokes, have they ever grown! When we bought them in early April they were about 1 foot high - they are now taller than our 6' fence! Because they are annuals, (at least in this climate), they'll be removed at the end of the season, but we will certainly buy them again next year. Not a lot going on today - DH has an ultrasound on his calf this morning, so I guess we'll stop for breakfast on the way home. @kazuthat's so exciting about Shadow - I'm sure she's going to love living with you! @smitty34877you have so much on your plate; I don't think I could hold it together as well as you do. @marshhawkokay, you've got me on the edge of my seat . . . please come back and elaborate on your stories! @StLouisCruisersHappy Birthday to your DGD, and sending good vibes for your DD's surgery today. @superomaHappy Birthday for tomorrow! I'd love to have cake for dinner, but that's not likely to happen, so I think we'll be firing up the grill to make steak fajitas for dinner tonight. Fajitas and a salad will be what we'll enjoy on the deck tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and for everyone who continues to provide aid. We'll raise the glasses to celebrate all on the happy list. Stay safe, wear masks when needed, get your boosters, and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  10. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I'm certainly not a culinarian, do enjoy an occasional chili dog, and thread the needle a lot when sewing. I chuckled at today's quote because it's true. It's a grey, cloudy day out there this morning - we had rain overnight and it is supposed to continue until around noon which means I won't have to water either the plants or lawn. I do know the rain will help the crops around the province; when we went to visit our friends, we saw that the crops along the way (mainly canola and wheat) were looking very nice. The canola is blooming a brilliant yellow, which would look great if we were in an airplane looking down at the prairies. Hopefully there will be a bumper crop that can be harvested fully so we can help lessen the world's food shortage. With all the issues people are having with luggage and flying, I just heard on the news that WestJet has reached a tentative agreement with the airport workers (customer service agents, baggage handlers, etc.) so they won't be going on strike - yay! Not a lot on the agenda today, likely just laundry and general house cleaning. I don't need to cook today because we had lots of leftovers from yesterday's barbecue. I'll add in a tossed salad and that will round out our plates of pork chops and dilled potatoes for dinner tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and all who are helping them. Extra for the Canadian and 2 American volunteer soldiers who lost their lives this weekend in their attempt to provide assistance. We'll raise the glasses this evening to toast all on the happy list. Stay safe, get your boosters, wear masks when needed and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  11. Thank you, it's a pleasure to see it up close in the bright sunshine!
  12. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I hope some day there are definitive answers as to what happened to Amelia Earhart; she was a real pioneer. I appreciate the cousins I have, even though they're not close by. I was blessed with great parents who adopted me; my siblings didn't have the same good fortune. It's a nice, cool morning, but the temps will be creeping up again close to 30C, so we'll enjoy having all the windows open for a while longer. We certainly live with a wide range of temperatures - yesterday we both were wearing our bunny hugs, and today we'll be back to shorts and t-shirts. At least we don't have to shovel anything right now. LOL @JazzyVI'm sorry to hear your power is still out - was it caused by a storm? @smitty34877It's nice to know that Tana's anxiety is a little better; I bet it helps to have visitors from the "outside". @StLouisCruisersgood luck to the Tigers! I'd love to try today's drink - I'll bet it would be very refreshing on a hot summer's day. Today's wine also caught my attention, especially the note about the bottles emptying easily. LOL That seems to be a trend at my house! Not a lot happening here today, just have to do a quick grocery run to get some ingredients for tonight's dinner. I think I'll cut up a pork loin into chops that DH will cook on the barbecue and serve them alongside dilled potatoes and coleslaw. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine who remain so brave. We'll clink our glasses together to celebrate all on the happy list and to remember our dear departed friend. Be safe, wear masks when needed, get your boosters, and stay well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  13. Good morning (it's still morning here), thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! DH's uncle was a true cowboy - he broke his last horse when he was 83 and lived healthfully until his passing when he was 92. Ice cream is a great vessel for other flavours. Drowning prevention is so important; our son was awarded the Royal Lifesaving Award medallion a couple of years ago when he saved a young boy's life while we were all at a lake not far from Calgary. Those swimming lessons early in life paid off. It's been a difficult morning for us - we woke to the news that a dear cruising friend had passed away. We met on our first trans-Atlantic in 2014 and although we lived thousands of miles apart, kept the friendship going by getting together a few times over the years. You know how you meet people and you have a special bond? That's how the 4 of us were; when we got together, it was like we just picked up from where we left off. We'll always remember him at Happy Hour because he was always the first one of the 4 of us to get there to have a seat. LOL He will be missed, but Heaven will be a funnier place with him there now. Today is a cool day, certainly not tank top and shorts weather; it looks like we may even get some rain later this afternoon, as the clouds are building and look very heavy with moisture. I think I'll spend time indoors working on sewing more bags and/or knitting little blankets. DH wants to use part of the afternoon to organize stuff in his garage - there's so much stuff!!! @RowsbyI feel your pain having to cancel a cruise, but know you've made the right decision for now. @StLouisCruiserscongrats to the Tigers; good luck for tomorrow! @kazuyour flowers are always so beautiful, thanks for sharing them with us. @summer slopea very Happy Birthday to you! I like today's menu suggestion, but haven't ever made tortillas from scratch. Our friends cooked up so many ribs yesterday that they sent home a care package for us, so all I have to do is make a potato salad this afternoon and we'll be set for dinner. It's definitely going to be ribs and salad for the 2 of us on the deck tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and all who are providing aid - let's hope their grain does get distributed to the rest of the world. We'll raise our glasses tonight to celebrate our friend and all who make up the happy list. Stay safe, get your boosters, be well and wear masks when needed. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  14. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! We've never had a hammock, but they're fun to relax in when on Half Moon Cay. Every day around here is summer leisure day, no matter the season. I'm geally rood at spoonerisms because I'm dyslexic. LOL I'm pretty good at telling the story of Rindercella and the Three Sisty Uglers. We woke to a gentle rain this morning which means the hot temps will abate somewhat for today. Unlike many places where you live in the south, when it rains here, the temperature drops several degrees, often making it necessary to wear a jacket. When we visited friends in North Carolina a number of years ago we experienced our first warm rain ever and were delighted that we didn't get chilled by it. Thanks for your care over DH's leg - the edema has gone down a lot, but his calf is still very sore. The doctor feels he might have pulled a muscle, and that may be what is causing the discomfort. I know many of you golf, so thought I'd post this photo - it was taken on a golf course in Manitoba just the other day. The reason why you should leave the golf course if there's a storm anywhere around. I like today's menu suggestion, and know we've had it when DH taught at the university and there was a delegation of South Korean teachers who came for the summer. They served it with the most amazing kimchi - yum! Normally it's Friday night pizza night at our house, but we're invited over to friends for the late afternoon for appetizers and a barbecue, so who am I to argue with that? We're going to be talking cruising, as we'll be traveling together for our January Caribbean cruise. Should be fun. And wine. @StLouisCruiserscongrats to Ren and his team; fingers crossed they win on Saturday! @bennybearI hope DH's surgery went well. Junk drawers - there's always been one in our house; where else would you put the bread tabs, twist ties, string, screw drivers, pliers etc? It makes sense to keep those things where you'll need 'em! Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine and for their strength to continue the fight. We'll celebrate all on the happy with the clinking of glasses tonight. Stay well, be safe, get your boosters and wear your masks when needed. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  15. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I think I'll be myself today; it's too hard trying to be anyone else. Junk food has always had a little space in our pantry. Yay for everyone who has dogs and who train them to act appropriately around people. I've got a weird sense of humour, so immediately laughed at today's quote. Would anyone like to offer me a teaspoon full of today's wine; I think that's all I could afford! Wow, I've been away for 4 days and have a lot of catching up to do! We spent a wonderful time with our friends at their cottage at the lake where, along with their 2 daughters and sons-in-laws, they treated us like royalty. We ate, we drank, we fished, and we floated. We had an assortment of marine conveyances from which to choose: kayak, canoe, rowboat, motorboat, motorized raft, pontoon boat, and catamaran. We ultimately went out on the motorized raft (all 8 of us sitting in lawn chairs - what a hoot!) and 4 of us went fishing with the motorboat. Here's our catch of the day - 15 walleye (pickerel) after only a couple of hours on the lake. I was hoping to be able to post a bit from the lake, but they don't have wi-fi, and the cell phone service is such that you have to hike up the hill and stand with your arm outstretched in order to get a signal. In an emergency, they would drive up the hill, but I didn't need to post that badly. I was able to post on FB a couple of times, but that was about all the service I could get. Whenever I tried CC, I enjoyed seeing the blue circle of death until it timed out. Here's the gorgeous sunset we were treated to on our first night - now bear in mind this photo is unretouched, I simply pointed my iPhone and clicked it. There are no filters to enhance colour or anything. It was absolutely spectacular. I see @marshhawkhas had a bad time with her latest vaccination - sorry to hear that; I hope you're better today. @bennybearif memory serves me correctly, today is your DH's surgery; please wish him well for me and know I'll be praying for a good outcome. @Sharon in AZplease wish Craig a very Happy Birthday and Happy Retirement as well. I'm sure I've missed some - if anyone has had a birthday, anniversary, or other celebration, please know I'd be happy to celebrate with you. For those who have had hardship, I'm sorry, and know you've all been in my heart. Yesterday when DH woke up his calves and ankles were very swollen, so on the way home I called our PCP and was able to get him in for a late afternoon appointment. He's now on a diuretic and informs me he counted and was up 17 times during the night. LOL The doctor didn't think it was a DVT, likely a combination the heat and his blood pressure meds, but has ordered an ultrasound, and blood test, so we'll see how those turn out. It's always something, isn't it? Today we're back to the real world, so it's time to get the laundry started and check to see what's needed from the grocery store. I like today's menu suggestion, but I think we'll be having something simple like smokies done on the barbecue and a nice crisp green salad that we'll be able to enjoy on the deck tonight. And wine. The sunset from our last night at the lake. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for the people of Ukraine and all who are helping them. We'll clink the glasses together to salute all on the celebration list. Stay safe, get your boosters, wear masks when needed and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  16. Taking some time now for an iced coffee and a break from our pre-lake preparations. A question - does anyone know if @Vict0riannever received Pat's luggage before they boarded the ship? I certainly hope so. I posted this on FB and thought I'd share it here - it's a tad too hot to eat on the deck this evening; DH has said he's going out to pick up "something" for dinner which we'll either eat in the house or maybe the pergola. I'm thinking the house will win because of the air conditioning. . . .
  17. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I like spinach in moderation, abhor snakes, and would love to have owned a Woody. Today's quote is still true today. I know I'd like the drink of the day and who wouldn't like a wine that has notes of blackberry and chocolate? Yum. Another hot day in the offing for us, even hotter than yesterday, so will be closing up the house within a couple of hours. It'll be a busy day for us - DH has to drive about 1.5 hours away to attend a memorial for a an old school chum. I'm not going, as I won't know anyone there. I'll be a busy bee at home. Last night our "older" friends (they're nearly 90) called and invited us to come to their cabin at the lake on Sunday to stay for a few days with them. We couldn't say no - even though they're in good health right now, we all know it could turn on a dime and we'd seriously regret not going. So today I'll be making up a big pasta salad and a couple of lemonade pies to bring along. I also want to make up a couple of grocery bags to give them as a host/hostess gift. @StLouisCruiserssorry your leg pain has returned; I hope you can get it under control soon. @HAL Sailer glad your DB's symptoms are lessening; I'm sure he's disappointed he won't be able to race, but will certainly be cheering on his son. @kazuyour flowers are always so beautiful - thanks for sharing them with us. While I like today's menu suggestion (great job @0106), it's going to be too hot to cook much. I baked some salmon in the toaster oven on the deck the other night and it's sitting in the fridge, so will flake it up and make salmon salads for us for dinner this evening. Salmon salads and crusty buns will be what we'll enjoy in the pergola tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for Buddy's family and friends as they say their final farewells. Extra for the people of Ukraine for all they're having to endure. We'll raise our glasses and salute all on the happy list. Stay safe, get your boosters, wash your hands, hydrate, don't forget the sunscreen, and be well. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
  18. I just ordered 2 Air Tags directly from Apple because I can't find any local retailers who have them in stock. Even the Amazon Canada site says they are currently unavailable. Both DH and I have an iPhone, so we should be able to keep tabs on our luggage if it doesn't arrive with us.
  19. Here's the link to the Air Passenger Protection site; if you scroll down you'll see the portion titled If Your Baggage is Lost, Damaged or Delayed - it spells out what you should do. https://rppa-appr.ca/eng/notice/airport-congestion-and-flight-issues?destination=node/256 Good luck to you; I hope for the sake of ease, that it appears in your hotel tonight, otherwise the two of you have some shopping to do instead of seeing the sights.
  20. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! We don't have a sticker on our house alerting that there is a pet inside, but I will go out and get one. I respect our country and am ever so grateful to live here. I've always got a box in the spare room that I can toss things into that are no longer needed. I look around our house and sometimes wonder why am I keeping all of this? It's time to declutter, I know. Well we're under another heat warning for today, so we've got all the windows open letting the cooler morning air into the house. Usually when it hits 24 or 25 outside I close things up and try to keep the house cool for a little while. Predicted high for today is 35C (95F) which means it could even go a bit higher, so we'll be breaking out the iced coffee and fans this afternoon. @Seasick Sailora belated Happy Birthday to your DH; I hope it was a great day for him. @0106good job on today's menu suggestion; don't worry about the size of the pics, we enjoy them. @Vict0riannI do hope DH's luggage arrives; if not, you know you can purchase up to $2300 of essentials for him. Keep all receipts and submit a claim to the airline when you return home. @kazucongratulations on the win; I think it will be very appropriate to serve them at Jose's celebration of life. Thanks for your comments on the grocery bags yesterday. I'm happy to make them, as I know they're going to last longer than the ones I can buy from the grocery stores. The stores in our city no longer have the regular plastic type, so we've been using the sturdier ones you can purchase, but I find they don't hold up well in the washing machine. Yesterday we drove around to a few different dollar stores where I was able to pick up more table runners so I can make a few for us and some for gifts as well. As much as I'd like to try today's menu suggestion, it's too hot to think about cooking. I was going to say it's time for salmon sandwiches, but caught myself in time - it's Friday night pizza night at our house! LOL I'll let DH do the ordering tonight and we might use the roofless car to go and pick it up. I'm pretty sure it'll be too hot to enjoy it on the deck, so we'll set ourselves up in the pergola and enjoy pizza in the shade. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra for the people of Ukraine as they continue to be inundated with missiles. We'll raise the glasses and salute everyone on the celebration list. Stay safe, be well, get your boosters, wear masks when needed, and hydrate! Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
