  1. Thank you. My first impression was the whole island was a water park that had to pay to get in. But I found a blog explaining it all. You can go anywhere on the island except the water park, balloon lift, zip line, beach club areas or the specialty dining locales which cost extra. Everything else is complimentary as on the ship.
Now all I need is to get me a nice overhead view map of the island for downloading.

Being that we are going to be there on a day with more than one ship, we prefer to have a spot reserved or the Beach Club with limited access.

Great idea. How would I find the amount of ships on a specific day at this location?

You might need to go back MSC site (re-check in again) and it probably already changed your check in time.

With 85+ days to go we got 3PM check in time but a few days ago we got 10AM check in time (Black card status + Fantastica experience).  We will park in the garage for an easyearly to get away.

    Good Luck

You are right. Our check- in has changed to an earlier time. 10:30am

Are curling irons permitted to bring on board?

I believe they have to be below certain wattage. I called for my upcoming cruise on the MSC and asked if DW can bring hairs straightener and was told it was ok.

It is not uncommon for the third party upgrade agency to have bids for sold out categories.

I've also noticed that the minimum bid is often not much savings of booking outright.

did a search for this category cabin for August ‘23 and the room is valued at $1850 pp with drink/Wi-Fi package And I found that even with the highest offer, it would still be a steal for me.

Has anyone had this SLJ category cabin? I would like to hear what your pros/cons are on it.

  6. Hi everyone. This is our first cruise on MSC and just got email for an upgrade from a Deluxe Balcony to 3 choices.

    MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suite

    MSC Yacht Club Interior Suite

Suite Aurea with Terrace and Whirlpool

while the YC option is tempting, we prefer to go the Aurea suite.
Has anyone any thoughts on this Aurea?

From the description, it seems to be at front of the ship, which is nice but wonder how strong the wind force would be.

When we try to do a mock booking, the suite SLJ does not even show up. Why is that?

No, you can circle around, drop off your luggage then go back and park.  It's a couple of hundred yards away. Easy Peasy.

I was referring to when returning. Unless we can have someone get the car from the garage and bring it around to where the baggage area is? I may take a ride out there this Sunday and watch the debarkation process.

  8. GoPort would be ok but my MSC check in is at 3 pm and GoPort last shuttle is at 1pm. I’m trying to  see if they changed the hours.

Parking at the official port lot is convenient in a way but if parking in the garage, then we would have to haul our luggage all the way from its pickup point all the way to our car.

    Tough decisions either way.

If you live in Florida GoPort (https://www.goport.com) would be better idea and cheaper

I misunderstood the Googling of GoPort being an actual website. I will check this out. Thank you Waterbaby and Chattenn.

Just checked it out and yes I think it would be worth it. As we live in the area, we aren’t in much of a hurry to get home.

    thank you again.

    Google go port

Thanks. I’m new to area and never sailed from PC. Would appreciate recommendations from those who have parked, which location as compared to others. Googling doesn’t give that personalized perspective.

  11. The pricing may have something to do with type of cruise. More sea days may mean more drinking. Where in port days, people get off the ship for hours at a time. Bermuda is an example. It docks for 2 to 4 days with passengers returning late at night. Less drinking there. By lowering Cheers it may attract some to take the package.

  12. Since there are 8 days at sea, plus embarkation day, with daily  5 or more specialty coffees,  several glasses of wine and cocktails at dinner, plus a few Cocktails here and there During shows and whatnots, I think the package will be More than fair at the very least.

Why do the packages not start until day 2 out of Galveston and NY?

I was told for NYC (Manhattan) there are tax laws. You can drink on first day but have to pay taxes. To avoid confusion, the package starts on second day of cruise.

    I don’t know Galveston’s excuse.
