  1. I have to get a China visa for my cruise next year and just decided to let my TA handle it. Takes all the worry out of it.

I can also agree about the Indian visa. I had to get on a few years back and the questions they ask and the restrictions on even getting a photo was incredible.

Anyone would think that we would want to jump ship and stay in India for good;)

  2. Thanks for your help :)

Yes, I've signed up for the Meet and Greet - someone said that they last for 30 minutes which isn't that much.

I thought there might be a certain place on board ships that it's easier to chat to people.

Actually, I just thought about something ..... maybe the adult spa (pool for only adults etc) might be a social place. Never been to one but maybe it won't be too noisy that you can have a conversation ;)

I always travel by myself and have never had any problem with meeting people to chat with. A good place is the coffee lounge. I always meet interesting people there. Also I always request my table for dinner is a large one and that way you always get to meet many different people.

  3. On my Princess cruise earlier this year, I purchaced some OBC for myself. It was in USD but I paid for it in AUS. It was easy to do. The only thing I would suggest to is to print out any receipts and take them with you. When I was onboard I checked my account and the OBC was showing but it was in AUS not USD which it should have been. As I had all my printouts it was easy for them to confirm the amounts and make the changes.

Just make sure you check your account once onboard to make sure it is all correct.

  4. Can anyone recommend a hotel in Singapore city with Executive/Club rooms i.e. those with access to a separate Executive/Club lounge?

    Thanks

I have stayed at the Conrad in Executive level and it was great. Highly recommend.

  5. Since I love sea days, I would choose San Francisco to Sydney or Sydney to Hong Kong.

I have to agree with Scrapnana. Last year I did San Francisco to Sydney on QE and just loved it. So much so that next year I am doing Adelaide to Tokyo also on QE. I just love sea days:D

  6. I got an Indian visa about 3 years ago for a cruise and has not problems. Not sure if that is because I am in Australia but mind you the photo sent with the visa had to be certain size, you could not smile and could not have your hair over your face. All of the details were on the information sheet with the visa form. It was a hassle but I got my TA to fill in the form and send it off to make sure it was all done correctly.

I also hear that the Chinese visa can be troublesome as well.

  7. Thanks Kathy for your good wishes. There is something wrong with my life today as have had to cook my own breakfast and make my own bed. After 61 nights on Queen Elizabeth, I miss her.

Sorry I didn't post much due to internet time etc. I know that John and Andrea were posting regularly and I really didn't have much more to add. Used to meet up with J & A and caught up with all the news.

I had an amazing trip and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I cannot understand all these people that moan and complain. Not everything is always perfect and you have to understand that.

Must now look at the brochures and think about booking another one.

Glad you had a great cruise Pat. I enjoyed following your blog. I also enjoyed reading everyone else's stories of the time onboard.

I can not wait until next year when I am on Queen Elizabeth (Adelaide to Tokyo) Mind you I do hope the weather is much better next year!

  8. Thursday, 5 Mar

I had trouble sleeping last night and when I woke up this morning I felt like

I had been hit by a truck so I closed my eyes and slept for awhile longer.

Then I got up and took a lot of meds to try to be human again. I slowly felt

a bit better and watched some TV.

I needed to get my things together for what will be my last CC M&G since I

will be disembarking in HK. I headed to the Yacht Club around 11:15 so I could

be there when the Solo Traveller's group let out and I could set up the name

tags for when the CC gang arrive. There were about 20 people there which

included mostly previous members but also a couple of new ones. Pat is finally

on board and we were glad to see her again!

It has been great experience for me to organize the roll call, M&G , roll call

booklet as well as several excursions for this cruise! It was my first time and

I appreciate all the support and thanks that everyone has given me over the

past 17 months! It made it smooth, fun and a way to meet lots of interesting

people. Thank you one and all!!!! I would also like to thank everyone who has

been reading and following along on our cruise. You have been very kind to

offer your feedback and comments, which also shows your support too!

I met my DH back at the cabin and we went for a bit of lunch. The sun was

shining brightly and lots of people were out on the aft Lido Deck.

Boring, but true, but I needed to get a little nap in before dinner tonight.

It is an informal night so that is a bit easier to get ready for. It was a

quick dinner before heading to farewell friends who will be leaving tomorrow.

Now it is time for sleep before our day in Brisbane tomorrow.

    Until next time...

I have really been enjoying all your reports and everyone elses as wells.

It really makes it feel like I am there.

Say Hello to Pat for me and when she gives her talk I highly recommend going. I went last year and it was great!

I can not wait until next year when I will be back onboard QE!

  9. We will be in Japan for 6 days in March 2016. Unfortunately the tour company (very good) we used last year is "busy" for the time we will be there. (I wonder if the cruise line booked them:rolleyes:. So I'd like to know if any of you could recommend a very good tour company. Thanks. tanny5258@att.net

I am also interested to know if any tour company for good tours in Japan.

  10. I will be in Tokyo early next year and am looking for a good hotel to stay at after a cruise for a few days.

I have been looking and was wondering if anyone has stayed at The Conrad and what it was like and how easy for getting around.

  11. Thank you for posting those pictures roscoe39, on your blog, they are amazing.

I hope we see pictures of the poppy wall when it is full of poppies, it will be a wonderful sight.

    Susan

Great photos Roscoe39. It looks like a nice day in Auckland today. Brings back memories when I was there last year on QE. I hope all have a great day.

I am also looking forward to seeing the wall full of poppies!

  12. That sounds weird. If your folio was in $AUD, then I assume your cruise was a round trip from an Australian port? How did you buy the OBC in $USD? When you bought the OBC, what currency were you charged in?

I thought the purpose of buying the OBC this way was to take advantage of their favourable exchange rates from $AUD to $USD for when your ship had $USD as the currency used on board (that is, a cruise not in Australia). This is why I bought my OBC - for a Mediterranean cruise, on board is $USD.

I would have thought that when buying OBC within Australia for an Australian based cruise, the currencies would have all been $AUD - Purchasing $AUD OBC with $AUD charged.

Out of curiosity, what exchange rate they give you in the end?

I was charged in AUS. $500 usd was charged on my bank statement as $550 AUS.

I called Princess direct and they told me that it would be in USD. In the end it was all sorted and I was given the extra credits so all was good.

  13. I brought some OBC for my last cruise to New Zealand and have just returned. One thing to keep an eye on is that the notice in my cabin said the OBC was in USD. When I checked cruise statement they did a straight dollar for dollar swap. I then went and checked it as 1usd does not equal 1aus.

After much going back and forward they finally agreed and I got the extra money.

I wonder how many people have not check there onboard statement?

    It pays to check everything.
