I always buy spa passes on all the cruises I go on with my DW. I have spa passes for my wife and I for the Panroama in a few weeks. We are fully vaxxed of course but a small part of me has me double thinking being close to people in the whirlpool, steam room, etc. We do enjoy it but wonder if that is really not a great idea right now ......or ..... just go and enjoy as all guests will be vaccinated.  Thoughts?

Don't want to scare you off, but I will never use the Thasso pool again.  Ended up with a staff infection three days into my last cruise.  Had to buy antibiotics in Mexico.  Thankfully they worked.

I just checked my To Do List for Aug 14 sailing and my Complete Health Assessment is gone (the one that you fill out 3 days prior to sailing) Anyone else have this happen?

I just received my full assessment to fill out today.  We're cruising on the 12th.  So, you will probably see it in the next two days.  Also, I got the letters saying if you don't fill it out we'll cancel your cruise (before they applied it to my check in information).  Hope this helps!

  3. Good evening all!

My husband and I were considering buying 100 shares of stock in Carnival because you can get an onboard credit.  Do you all know, is this an ongoing perk (in other words, do you get it every time you cruise with them), or is it a one time perk?  Also are there any restrictions?  For example, if you get a cruise that is discounted or a carnival players cruise offer does it still apply?  Any info would be helpful.  Thank you all so much!  I always know I can depend upon good advice from the cruisers on this site!

  4. Ok, here's the dilemma for us...  My sister had a free cruise booked on the July 6th sailing on the vista with a $500.00 casino cash (premier cruise) and I had paid for my cruise but still had a $1000.00 casino cash.  My son is in the room with my sister and my husband and I are in the other cabin.  Because I can't get any response from the casino host (it seems like it would be easier to find Jimmy Hoffa than someone from the casino), we can't book our summer cruise.  Any suggestions?  I do think that they should offer us what we originally had, but not fighting the casino cash as much.  Just trying to get the free cabin that was originally booked.

  5. We are going to be on the July 6th cruise.  Just called carnival - no update as of now.  Will update by tomorrow per the rep.  Hoping desperately that our cruise doesn't get cancelled.  Have a great players club promotion attached to it with $1000 free play.

    Fingers crossed.

  6. I am a travel agent and I'm always surprised to hear that people always say that the Carnival cruises are such a great value.  We cruise Carnival because of our son - he really enjoys it.  They are a great family ship, just like Royal Caribbean.  However, many of the other lines are the same price or lower when it comes to cruising.  As far as the gift... it is what it is.  A gift.  Keep it, share it, throw it away if you choose, but don't ever pick a line based on unknown perks.

    Just my two cents.

  7. I agree with Five.  Galveston has really gotten stuff together when it comes to embarkation.  If you do wait it won't be long.  The only reason we ever got FTTF is if we were going to a place that has tender boats (boats that take you from the ship to the island).  That is nice not to have to wait in line for.  The biggest reason I hear people take the FTTF is because they want to drop their stuff off in their room.  So, look at it like this.... If I was to offer you $90 to carry your luggage for 1 hr or so, would you do it?  If so, save your money and use it on an excursion! :).

Couple of points..  gamblers fib about what they spend.

The casino hosts can put notes in your file about you which can up or ding your offers.  Hand pays up offers.  Being a PITA without being a big loser will down offers.  PVPs and the Casino Hosts are separate departments. A great PVP may have been able to develop a relationship with casino Executive Hosts but most don't.  Spending $2000 puts you in the low end of casino players.  There are players every cruise who rack up that much per day.  There is a reason you can charge up to $5000 per day to your S&S on a regular cruise and $7,500 per day on a Premier.

The casino hosts stopped taking phone calls (you can bet the $$$$$ players get through) because so many people call to negotiate a better package.  If the casino host themselves (because you have of course introduce yourself the first day) seek you out, you have gotten their attention.  Bouncebacks are usually not offered if you hacve another cruise booked UNLESS you have gotten their attention.  Boucebacks are also limited per cruise so only the top percentage on any given cruises get them.  I have seen people who have racked up 20,000 points by the second day.  You get a few of those folks on your sailing, they are going to get all the offers.  On the other hand, you could be sailing with a bunch of non gamblers and you end up being the big fish with 10,000 points at the end.  It is always a crapshoot...

Good info here.  Yep, I've seen the 2k a day players (definitely not me).  I did send an email to the players club.  I'll let you all know what's said.

I don't have any experience with this but definitely call them. It never hurts to ask. They might take a look at all of your past play history for an offer instead of the most recent sailing.

Let us know how it works out!

I only gamble $10 per cruise.  Very risk adverse with money.

Thanks for the advice!  I will reach out.

  10. Good morning all!

This is an odd question, but any help would be appreciated.

I recently booked a premiere cruise for July and the offer for the room was full price with 1k free play (even though it shows "up to" $500 off).  My sister (who gambled more than I did on her last cruise which was 2015) received a fantastic offer of 100.00 interior pp + 200 onboard credit + 500 free play.  I play about 2k everytime I cruise but the last cruise I held back a bit and didn't receive a bounceback offer for a free cruise (received 200.00 pp per room). Sidenote - we cruise at least once a year.

So here's my question.  Has anyone ever reached out to the players club and talked to them about giving a more attractive offer?  When I call Carnival they can't help (PVP's don't seem to have any influence or ability to request new offers).

Thanks in advance for any info/advice!

  11. I think it's a great deal to go from an Interior to a Balcony for only $400. If you had booked a Balcony in the first place it would have cost you much more than $400 to do it. We love the balcony cabins and spend a fair amount of time on them. After 46 cruises, we don't go ashore that often anymore and prefer to lounge around on our balcony reading and relaxing on port days.

OMG! After reading your signature line it looks like you live on the ship!! LOL! Lucky!!!

  12. You need to call them out on this. I had the same thing happen but it was a balcony from an interior. Once I had the pricing and the room number (they will give you that if you ask), I ran the numbers.

I called back the person who was trying to upsell it and informed her of what was going on and she was surprised (or a really good actress :) ). I asked to speak to her manager so I could give them the information. They weren't available so I got their email and sent my findings.

Definitely and upsell.... not an upgrade. I don't blame them, they're in the business of making money, but as consumers we definitely need to watch it.

And in answer to your question.... Heck no! $1k goes a long way!! :)
