when in the ports and looking for cigarettes you want to be looking for that CLASS A logo across the front. Those sometimes cheaper are not class A and will read Class B or have nothing at all. THese taste lighter and they burn very quickly-- saving you nothing because you are smoking more...
Thank you for that info. I didn't realize there were different classes of cigs.

If you are cruising out of Galveston, when you are heading out of the Terminal there is a table set up and they will ask if you purchased cigarettes or Alcohol while on the ship. If you are honest and tell them yes, they want taxes on those purchases. $15.00 in tax for a carton of cigarettes. Just ignore them and walk on by.
LOL! Good to know. Thanks!

I'm so terribly sorry to hear that! As far as I know the stipulations vary from insurer to insurer. So, for that reason I would call rather than order online. Give them some insight to your situation and they will advise you on what to do.
My best to you and your spouse.

We're booked on the Breeze for the first day. I booked it about 7 weeks in advance and I didn't get the original time I requested. So, yes.... you do need to book early! I'll let ya'll know how it turned out. I think I'm going to try the Art at the table for dessert. Since they've removed the cheesecake:( I want to try something a little different.

Since I quit smoking, I find that on cruises is when I miss smoking the most. I don't know why, because I do like that I do not spend so much time in one area smoking, or going out of my way to get to a smoking area.
The best prices we had, and I do not know where you are going.. was when we went to St. Kitts in late 2016. We paid $88 for five cartons at a shop just inside the port entrance area.
Good luck on your choice to quit.. the only thing that worked for me is Chantix. I tried everything else. Chantix was the only one that I got to keep smoking, until the medication built up in my system, and I just didn't want one. No withdrawal symptoms, no cravings. Now just like an alcoholic I learned that I cannot ever just have one. After being off the medication for 6 months, I had a stressor in my life, and I had a cigarette. Well... went right back to smoking. Had to go back on Chantix again.. but it worked again the same way. Also, I didn't have any of the side effects of the Chantix, except nausea if I took it on an empty stomach.
You and me both. I quit 8 years ago (with Chantix). It was so much easier than trying the cold turkey route. But you're right, I had a couple of cigs just once and then continued. I've never really experienced an addiction to anything before, and I have to admit I am addicted to cigs. The next time I stop - not even a puff. :D

Thank you for the prices. I'm a Marlboro Light 100's person. I will say that I did schedule my quit day for one week after we get off the ship, but I know my hubby's in no rush to quit so maybe we'll load up on the ship (unless Cozumel is cheaper).

Thank you all for your responses! I appreciate it!!

Well us chicken eaters could say the same...$35 for a piece of beef/lamb/fish/lobster but your paying for a whole meal. Appetizer, salad, entree and dessert not just a piece of very tasty chicken, lol.
SHAME SHAME ON YOU!! Comparing chicken to steak and lobster. Tsk tsk - LOL!!:p

I was just reading this to my husband (asking about the chicken or sole). He had a good suggestion. Maybe you can just ask for an additional appetizer for your main course. It looks like they have several good ones to choose from.

I will say that Jamaica is the only port I have ever stayed on the ship. The very first time we went off the ship there were armed guards, with machine guns. That alone made me a bit nervous. We went on our own to Margaritaville assuming that this would be a safe place, and it was. Hubby and I got drinks and our son (8) played on the man-made beach and we swam for hours. Had a great time! However, getting a taxi back we were told one price and halfway through the ride, we were told another (price doubled). The driver made it very clear that we would not get back to the ship unless we paid..... I believed him. That was the last time we ever got off in Jamaica.
If you go, please be careful. There are several people that love it, but if you go - go with an excursion. Hopefully a larger group. I know crime can happen anywhere, but I've never had an experience like the one I had there.

Ummm think about this dad. Are you sure you want side by side cabins with your adult married children?!!?!?
I know you have good intentions. But the space might be a GREAT thing with paper thin walls. IMJS

Hello fellow cruisers,
For those of you that want to use this as a "no smoking campaign", I politely ask that you please table your comments for another thread....
That said:D, can anyone give me an idea of the cost of a carton of cigarettes on the ship? Just a roundabout figure will help.
Thank you in advance!

Does anyone have a pic of the new menu?[/quote
Sorry, I tried to upload the screenshots of the new menu and couldn't do it. John Heald just posted on his Facebook page yesterday! Check his photos.
Thanks for trying! I'll take a look on FB

I'm sorry that you even have to ask a question regarding tolerance of your partner. Eventually (hopefully sooner than later) this won't even be a second thought. Things are moving in the right direction... slowly but surely :).

No penalty as long as you're in the same or better cabin.

When are you going?

I'm turning Platinum on this coming up cruise. If you figure out a way to circumvent the system let me know. I'll need alot more cruises to put me to Diamond - LOL!
-
I'm excited that the Vista's coming to Galveston. We always cruise out of our backyard so when the ships change ports, it's nice to go on something different.
-
I usually do $3 a bag, unless we take our really big bag that's super heavy...then I tip $5 for that.

I'm not sure that there's much you can do. I think the post stating that you will just have to eat the 200.00 is true.... cost of having kids (and really... in the grand scheme of things, not too much to lose). Once had a post where I was pulling my kiddo out of school for a cruise and I actually started it off with " I have permissions from all the teachers and the Principal of the school". It was amazing to me how many people wanted to tell me how awful I was for taking away from my child's education and what kind of lesson are you teaching your kid, etc.... Guess what??? They survive and continue to get good grades without one week of school (especially the first week - which is typically just a summary of what they did the previous year). Either way, I hope everything works out. I know it's a bummer to have the schedule changed last minute.

I have muster station E4. I'll be learning where that is on Sunday! I've been waiting for 553 days now!
While you're on there can you swing by the Spa to see if the jets are working on the Thaso Pool. You should be allowed to tour if you don't have a pass. There's been a thread saying that it's still now working. Wondering if that's still the case. Please and thank you (if you have time :) )!
Question regarding "Corking Fee" and the Steakhouse
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
I've got a really silly question for you.
We're dining in the Steakhouse the first night and they offer a complimentary bottle of red or white with dinner. Do they charge a corking fee on the free bottle?
Just curious. Thanks!
