  1. Im curious which of these emergency evacuation insurance companies you are referring to - I don’t know but as I understand it with the std travel insurance emergency evac they take you to the closest location. I had thought with medjet or the others they will not take you off a ship but will fly you home or to a hospital of your choice. So regular travel insurance takes you off the ship and a medjet policy will take you where you want to go? It’s a question! If you can clarify that would be much appreciated! Thank you
  2. I hate to bring this up but it’s important to some of us - is the MDR open for lunch?🤞
  3. Haven’t been on nova but usually take aft suites on Seabourn. Love them. They do “rock and roll” sometimes but it doesn’t bother my husband and I. We don’t get seasick. In fact when we have on occasion had to take everything off shelves and put toiletries in the sink with a towel over them I sleep like a baby ( I’m a terribly light sleeper). So if that doesn’t bother you it’s a great view from your terrace. We are anxious to try nova or ray especially with their aft suites.
  4. We have never received what requested when we first enter our suite on a Seabourn cruise. However we just tell our steward and by the time we return from dinner ( or sometimes before) everything is there we requested. It’s really not a problem. I do laugh as I have wondered why we are asked but it doesn’t bother us at all as it’s fixed in no time.
  5. Thank you for the feedback! Sounds like terrific news. We are on pursuit for 30 days - Papeete to Guam and looking forward to it. It will be our first cruise posy Covid, although we have been traveling by land. It’s a bucket list fir my husband - particularly the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and Micronesia for the WW2 history and sites. We do hope the restaurant will open for lunch at least on sea days! Any additional feedback is welcome - both pro and con.
  6. Agree also. Important to hear the good and the bad. Please don’t stop your feedback!
  7. We will cruise first time since Covid in April 2024 with pursuit. We will take tests and paxlovid with us. I unfortunately have 2 friends who passed away from it ( both under 60 and otherwise healthy) and a friend was just in a top hospital for 2 weeks with a bad case. So, I’m well aware it’s out there and some people least expected can get very sick. We would of course let the ship know if we were to come down with it and quarantine. it won’t stop us from traveling ( we have been going by land the last couple of years) but will be prepared and take precautions as I would with any illness while on board a ship.
  8. We have dined outdoors on Quest in Antarctica and going from Iceland via Greenland to Montreal all in cold weather with no problem. Also on Sojourn. Both had heat lamps and blankets.
  9. Thanks for sending this. I’ll go back to my TA as our trip on pursuit from Papeete to Guam is on the list so we should be able to get both!
  10. Ijust asked my TA about Sail to Remember promotion on an upcoming cruise already booked with the 5% club discount. They came back with the sail to remember 10% but without the 5% club savings. No explanation I just saw the slightly lower cost and did the math. It will be the first cruise we have done since early 2020 and was told the $1k on board book in advance we had done was expired which surprised me.
  11. Thank you SLSD for doing this and providing us with the feedback. Like you and many others my husband and I prefer to eat lunch in the MDR as we don’t care for buffets or crowds. Patio we also enjoy but not all the time. So I’m glad you got a bit about that into the zoom. And like jondfk I spent years traveling the world for business where I had to dress in business attire and sometimes attend formal dinners in foreign countries. We also don’t like to travel with too much luggage so a more relaxed dress code where people still look nice and pulled together works for us. ( we won’t look sloppy I can guarantee) My husband will always bring a sports coat or two and I’ll always bring nice clothes slacks and blouse or dress) and appreciate if others like to dress more formally but like the idea of having a choice and not having to bring extra clothes and shoes for a few nights makes me very happy!
  12. We went through the Chilean fjords when we went to Antarctica and South Georgia in 2017 on Quest. ( Santiago to BA). They were beautiful but it was cold. Highly recommend but as said before bring layers.
  13. If you would consider an expedition cruise Seabourn Pursuit has some wonderful spring and fall trips that go to many hard to reach destinations in the South Pacific with WW2 sites. We are doing Papeete to Guam in April. It’s (2) 15 day segments the second half being more focused on the WW2 sites ( charter flight from Sydney to Honaria, Soloman Islands ending in Guam).
  14. We also prefer lunch in the MDR. I don't care for buffets at all. Our experience with Seabourn has been very inconsistent in this regard. Our last cruise ( pre Covid) it was open every day for lunch and dinner. It was the first part of the 2020 world cruise so perhaps that made a difference. In 2017 when we did Antarctica and South Georgia it was also open every day for breakfast and lunch. On other cruises it’s been hit or miss. I’m wondering if part of the decision is up to the captain? We travel more by land than cruise, but our next cruise is in April 2024 on pursuit from Papette to Guam. It’s 30 days and I’ve read the Colonade is a zoo on Venture. Does anyone know if they open the MDR for lunch on the expedition ships? I’m hoping so. And hopefully what you heard on the Norway cruise is the direction they are going. After all they need to compete with SS and Regent who always have the MDR open for all meals!
  15. Thank you for taking us on this fascinating trip! Enjoyed it all.
  16. We will be on the trip from Papeete to Guam in April 2024. Really looking forward to it!
  17. Love those photos! Looks like terrific snorkling there!
  18. Thank you for sharing. I traveled quite a bit in the Middle East for business but as a woman never set foot in Saudi and I’d love to see it. Your funny comment about the plane potentially getting waylaid reminds me of a funny story. I was on a business trip to Casablanca and flying from there to London on the local Moroccan airline. It was supposed to be a nonstop flight. About 20 min in the air the pilot announced we’d be making a quick stop. It was on a funny runway in the middle of the desert. Two sheiks boarded and off we went, sitting in seat 1B I watched them devour duty free including items…..not telling what but you can guess. have a marvelous time and I look forward to your writings. Just wish I were along for this one! It sounds fascinating!
  19. Thank you for your posts! We are doing a Seabourn trip on one of their new expedition ships from Papeete to Guam for 30 days. Visiting some of the places you are going! It’s a year away but getting excited and love reading about your travels!
  20. I recommend spending your first night at the hotel that encompasses the semi private part of the blue lagoon, it’s close to the airport, you get the blue lagoon experience without the crowds and it has a nice restaurant for dinner And nice rooms. I think it’s called the retreat. It’s a great way to spend the day you are over your jet lag. We were there pre Covid and spent our first night there. Then moved after the first night into a hotel in town where we spent one day exploring the town and the other doing the circle tour mentioned above. We did it by private tour driver/ guide but don’t recall the name. We had a very nice time before getting on Quest which went to Greenland and Canada ending in Montreal. They used to call it Route of the Vikings.
  21. Thank you Fletcher and HPD! It’s booked and we are looking forward to it! Love the photo of Rabaul! Kim
  22. Good news! Looks like the Pursuit will be sailing in the South Pacific after all. We were so disappointed when the previously shown cruises disappeared. We are looking at Papette to Guam 30 day trip in spring of 2024. We are excited to do Soloman Islands and New Guinea in particular, but also would love to see French Polynesia again ( done by land in past and will do a bit again pre cruise. Any thoughts or ideas on this cruise?
