  1. Not defending Princess because they sometimes are at fault. Also found the my internet provider (Frontier) was just as guilty. Sometimes my browser too. A combination of factors may cause the poor connection. Princess is not always transparent (no post that says technical difficulties). Mostly happens on the weekend when you want to do something and no TAs are available.
  2. Throw in insult to injury...Elite passengers can get wifi for $12.50 a day but get absolutely no discount when buying a Bundled beverage package (Plus/Premier). That's the one the irks me the most. End of rant, for now.
  3. From past experience (not recent): If you were "upgraded" for free, you do not receive the double suite cruise credits. If $$$ were involved due to a bid or upgrade offer, you WERE given the credit. This may have changed.
  4. The Grand/Crown/GEM class ships may still have some dancing venues. I would not expect to see any wooden floor dancing on the Royal/Sphere ships. If it is a longer cruise, you can always request the canned music hour to be more ballroom. These are usually held in the aft venue. If you have a Wheelhouse with a band, you will have much more luck. The party band in the Explorers Lounge is more free dance.
  5. Bad batch? Mine died the evening of the 24th day (of a 25 day voyage). At a most inopportune time but not embarrassing).
  6. When I had to replace my medallion, I waited a few minutes at the Customer Service Counter. Agent went in the back....and returned with my "new" one. I requested to keep the original. The duplicate had the same name and ship/date as the original on the gray ring around medallion. There must be a way to print/engrave on the ship.
  7. I have a cruised booked for mid 2026..on the Grand. Princess would be penny wise, pound foolish for selling/getting rid of one of their more popular ships. I love the Grand (now that they got rid of the Golden). I know I am not the only one that feels this way. I am well aware of Princess playing the shell game. I have a total of 3 cruises booked (was 4) on the Grand Princess. They charge top dollars for her voyages.
  8. The closer to the cruise, the higher the price. Even higher booking once on the ship. IF...I do a Princess excursion, I book it when it first opens. I know...they have my money. But in some cases, they will draw from OBC. I can always cancel.
  9. Cruising is the best way to have a reunion. My sister is 10 years older than I am and walked me to death in Japan. My brother is approaching 90 and still plays golf. The ship provides food, drinks, and shelter. You make the best/worst on board. For me, I would not have picked a larger ship. But she picked the ship and the cruise. You all will be fine.
  10. Agree, it takes several days to incubate (although new variant comes on very quickly). There seems to be more incidents when the voyage is longer (more time to infect more people). Short voyages...you take the virus home with you.
  11. She went into dry dock shortly after the restart in 2022, just before the start of her Alaskan Season.
  12. I understand that. I just said I would like the option to book traditional dining in Reserve Collection MDR. I've come close. Often the Assistant Manager will sort of "hold" MY table for me....lol. Works much better when you have longer cruises. When there is a will, there is a way. I would also like the ability to book specialty restaurants using my app (not able to do so). I wasn't sure if ALL reservations were affected by this complete overhaul.
  13. Having caught covid on a cruise, I have taken the responsibility upon myself to prevent another episode. Princess can only do so much. It is an airborne virus (Princess....could have a non-smoking casino...but I digress). I still wear a mask. I still carry around alcohol spray that I use after looking at a menu. I try to stay away from (coughing) crowds. I am getting another booster. I carry tests and Paxlovid. On my last cruise, my table mates (breakfast/lunch/dinner) caught covid. I did not. The best thing a passenger can do is self isolate if they have covid. Unfortunately, Covid is here to stay just like Noro, the Flu, and common cold. The threat is not enough to keep me away from cruising.
  14. You are booked on a Guarantee. That means you will be assigned a room in that specific category or better (in the eyes of Princess). You could be assigned a room anywhere on the ship (forward/aft/midship/higher floor/etc). Voyages are currently running at 102% occupancy according to several YouTubers I follow. That is due to more than 2 passengers per cabin. They have also mentioned that some Guarantees are not being honored. Princess will make move over offers to those with cabins to see if they can accommodate those booked with a Guarantee. I, personally, would never take that risk. Same reason why I do not fly family and friends standby.
  15. I am unable to book ANY specialty dining venues. I do not need to book MDR since I will be dining in Reserve Collection MDR. Yes, I would love to be able to book a traditional dining time in Reserve Collection, but do see the benefits of any time walk in.
  16. I am in the same boat (ship). My cruise is before September 1. I can't book any Specialty Restaurants for any date/time (Complimentary/Paid/nor Premier). There is no need to make reservations for RC MDR. I am confused, though. This shouldn't apply to my cruise since it isn't in the time frame. What am I missing? Am I worried? No....I will make my dinner reservation when I embark. Been there, done that. Going through the hoops just for fun. I have tooooo much time on my hands.
  17. 1. I don't use X 2, Update website???? ha ha 3. I win ! I called it ! Not happening 6/17/2024 I don't understand how they can set a projection date and then fall short. Wouldn't it be less frustrating if they set the date out further and then surprise everyone with an earlier happening? aka sheldon copper.
  18. Unfortunately, my arthritic fingers have a hard enough time getting them on/off. Haven't had any issues in years. Not to say it won't happen.
  19. Good reason to go now (than later). Did repo up (July/ FLL) and down (October/Quebec). Visited St John, Bar Harbor, Sydney, Williamsburg, Portland, Newport. Both were really enjoyable and glad I did them.
  20. My plastic holders stay on for every mode of travel. You just slip your paper tags inside after you claim your luggage from the carousel.
  21. I almost always purchase my fare with insurance. All that is required is my FCD. If I cancel, I am refunded my FCD. Insurance is not factored in until final payment is due. I don’t know if there is a required time after booking or before final payment for insurance to be valid (think pre-conditions). I only do refundable deposits Just cancelled 2 bookings under deposit only and refunded FCDs.
  22. Do you have Plus (free shipping) Do you have Premier (free accessory of THEIR choice). Have you already ordered your Medallion? Go to your app. Travel Information page Order Medallion Click on name Medallion or Accessories I think there is a shipping charge and tax for ordering it online
  23. I think the confusion comes about with the difference between eating in the Reserve Collection MDR and Specialty Restaurants. Reserve Collection MDR: No reservations needed. Walk up, get seated (if you have no special requests for area/wait staff). Truly anytime dining. Specialty Restaurants will vary by ship: These (like Crown Grill/Sabatini's/the Catch By Rudy/360, etc) require a reservation. You will have priority over a non-Reserve Collection passenger. If the restaurant you desire is near capacity, they may offer you a different time/day but will try their hardest to get you in. Print out your Reserve Collection Amenities flyer and bring it with you.
  24. I tried once on the app today, without success. I gave up many tries AGO. And when was the last time Princess promised a date AND actually met the deadline? Hmmmmm Medallion ship (PreCovid), Sun Princess, Star Princess, Dine My Way, need I say more? "Loving This" thread.
  25. Depending on the itinerary you may find passengers lined up at 4:45 PM waiting for the doors to open in Reserve Collection. Yes, I was one of those (not by my choice). Or you may find that the dinner crowd did not start until after 6. You will have a complimentary suite Specialty Restaurant on embarkation night. You can make reservations when you board. I would give suite breakfast a try early in the cruise. It really is one of the best perks. If you are not fussy about which table/which wait staff, then it is truly anytime dining. The area is small enough that the entire wait staff will get to know you (not necessarily your specific needs/wants).
