On some ships one is shock frozen after boarding. I propose to dress/undress like an onion with seven skins. This helps to prevent catching a cold due to bad weather or too cold air conditions.

QM2 is just leaving now at 0.28am.

While it is true that a world cruise and sailing through different time zones and climates and all the excusions can be very tiring, depending on the itinerary I would not hesitate to do one again. I can always sleep afterwards 😉.

It will probably be a last minute decision where to go. All those in charge deserve our respect.

I was on a similar cruise some years ago but under different conditions (pirates). With a warship in front of us, Royal Navy Officers on the bridge and Commodore who showed what leadership means, we felt safe.

All one can do at the moment is wait for Cunard's announcement.

I can't wait to say that my cruise to the Caribbean next year, it must be similar to Cougaraz' ,

has just been confirmed. How lucky we are, aren't we?

I understand your concern, but don't forget that the QM2 is one of the safest and fastest (if not THE safest and fastest) ships in the world. She is well equipped against possible attacks with arms at the aft and a special alarm system with very intense and unbearable signals for the human ears. All this is attended by officers.

A Royal Nay ship was preceding us on the Read Sea during our world cruise in 2011 and Royal Navy Officers were aboard as well.

Before, during another critical part of the cruise by possibly being attacked from pirates around the Gulf of Aden, the captain ordered a complete close-down of the ship with the passengers having to stay in their cabins, all lights turned off etc.

I can't think that the ship, being commercial, would be involved in war-like situations nor would pirates attack her considering her dimensions.

By the way, I am going to sail this part of the world again and have no doubt that Cunard will reroute the ship if it becomes necessary.

Advice please.

If you want a balcony, just take it! Personally I would not take the risk of partial view only in an obstructed cabin. For me, for others maybe not so much, the whole atmosphere of being near th sea, smell her and the wind cannot be replaced.

Removing plastic waste are a global task.

I always take sheltered balcony cabins and never had any noise problems.

No, Lilydes, sorry, but I don't agree. First and foremost, it is to contribute saving the planet, it is to save the sender's paper and ink and the customer's paper and ink as well.

The three of it make sense, believe me.

I suggest to print the first page only with all your data on it. If need be, you can always go online on the ship to print or read the rest of the contract.

I agree with foodscmgr as to overhyping luxury, especially on the German market, which results in unrealistic prices and disappointment of passengers. A good part of it is due to bad translations of publications into German, which do not correspond to the mentality. 

I do not know any of the cabins mentioned, since I use to take in-hull cabins on decks 4 to 6; they have large balconies which make the cabins seem more spacious.

FOR ME, single cabins would be out of question, even if they look nice. I would feel locked away, could not smell the sea, not feel the wind nor enjoy the excitement of being at sea.

Nearly the same applies to cabins high up on the ship. FOR ME, it would be too far away from the sea; the balconies are smaller. 

Hope this helps, even if it was not really your question, but maybe you choose an in-hull cabin now.

I have done various trans-atlantics and cruises on Cunard ships. I wonder what makes one believe that the magic of QM2 might have gone simply because the food was not up to his expectations, especially when plenty of alternatives are available. 

A two nighter? Is it really worth to begin it? You arrive, unpack and soon after you have to pack again. What a pity, at least for me.
