  1. I believe that it's best to combine both, head and heart! If money plays such an important role, why not divide the half world voyage into two segments, provided they cover what you would like to see. Like this you would have two cruises to look forward to and the money would not become due all at once.

If for whatever reason this is not acceptable, I would not hesitate and book the cruise to fulfil my dream.

  2. Strange question I know but I have a problem with my feet swelling when on board. ..they are ok at home.

I once read a long thread on the subject and it seemed quite common. One of the theories was to do with the water treatment system. Anyone else had this problem?

I sometimes have it in hot and humid summers, never on a ship, but here is what I do - it may help you as well.

I think the point is to activate the functioning of the veins, for instance by a massage of the legs, in direction of the heart, with a gel/cream that contains extracts of buckeye nuts.

It also helps to put up/raise the legs on a bed or a sofa while reading, watch TV or use the PC.

Swimming certainly helps and/or using special treatments on the ship's spa.

Finally, walking around the ship and using he staircases instead of the lift!

    Best wishes to you.

  3. According to Marine Traffic she's heading west at 17.7 knots, approx. 100 miles+ due west of the tip of Cornwall, destination New York.

Not sure where "turned east" came from/was found?

    :confused::confused:

According to my Marine Traffic view this was her position 7 hours ago ...

  4. Hi babs135,

I am quite certain that osteopathy would help you in an even shorter period of time. In a very cold and humid winter some years ago, and stress, the sciatic nerv was trapped in my right leg, from the heap until down to the foot.I could hardly move anymore, but my osteopath did a miracle and put it back into the right position within 30 minutes. I got up and walked out of the room as if nothing at all had happened before :)

    Get well soon!

  5. Nothing to do with the TA it is the law in the UK and it doesnt matter whether its a land based holiday or cruise and whether you have booked through a TA or direct. It is not the TA that keeps the deposit its the company you have booked with. So when you cancel a cruise with Cunard and your deposit is refundable in the UK Cunard keep the deposit which in the UK is 15%

Might be different in the UK. Normally a contract is concluded between parties that are directly concerned, be it with money or without. Still the fact remains that the amount of the deposit seems too high compared to the administrative action required to cancel a contract - at least for me.

  6. You are very lucky we have to hold our breath and hope on every cruise we book in the UK because even if we cancel week after booking and cruise is still 2 years away we will lose our deposit. At the moment they are doing an offer of 5% deposit but if you cancel you still have to pay and lose the normal 15% deposit.

This is something that makes my blood pressure go up. All that is required by the TA is an email to the ship's company to cancel the cruise, which takes minutes at little cost. I don't know how they justify the 5 % deposit.

I once had a similar problem with a TA when I had to cancel a flight. They reduced the deposit to a reasonable amount.

  7. Anyone else concerned about terrorism. I'm well aware that it happened in the U.S. ( I was in NY and witnessed it). We have stops in Belgium, UK & France. Will be there in Oct. any thoughts?

Both France and Belgium have the highest and second highest alert for months and you see well-armed police and soldiers as well as customs and private security people every day, although there cannot be absolute security.

    All the best!

  8.

it was also good fun watching the Maitre D' stopping people from walking through the restaurant to get to the pool deck - it was interesting seeing how some people responded to the polite request to go back and use the stairs and to go down one floor and along. Some simply did as they were requested, others barged through anyway and one man shouted and swore at the poor Maitre D' simply not caring that he was walking through an upmarket restaurant and clearly had no respect for the diners in it - he wasn't British!

I enjoyed reading this report, which I find well written and informative, thank you!

It is unfortunate that the kind of people as described can be found in any nationality.

  9. The point is, at least in my opinion, that the new carpet does not correspond to the overall style of QM2, which is art déco, while the carpet's style is modern, so there is a contrast. Although I am not against contrasts, but here it is too sharp. Let's hope that in reality it looks better!
