  1. We ended up going in early 2023. We went with Hurtigruten. We got a deal with them and also paid in Norwegian Kroner, which further saved us money. It cost us about $8500 each for a 14 day cruise. It was the trip of a lifetime and worth every penny.

  3. Are there any extra baggage restrictions for the flight to Ushuaia? We will each have a checked bag under 23kg and a carry on. Plus a person shoulder, messenger type bag. This is how we normally travel.
  4. Pesos in Argentina? What about getting from the airport. We have the Western Union account set up, and we get the Blue exchange rate with our Visa. But don't we need cash when we arrive to take a taxi from the airport? The rates we can get in the US are bad, 160 ARS to the dollar. Do we get $50 - $100 anyway, so we have cash on arrival. Or do we exchange at EZE? How do you all deal with this?
  5. Our cruise is the second half of February, I know there is still a lot of daylight, but is there a chance to see the Southern Lights?
  6. We did this too and saved big. I went to the Norwegian site, and used Google Translate for it. Your way sounds better. We leave Feb 13th.
  7. CDNP, could you go over the night before the flight again. You said there was a wake up call at 2:30am, but people wanted breakfast at 1:30 am. (did anybody sleep? 🙂 ) I thought the flight was at 7 or 8am, what time did the bus leave the hotel? Was relaying this info to my wife and trying to work out the timing. Yes, I know, we will go with the flow. As long is there is coffee along the way, we are fine.
  8. Thanks again. Fortunately we are staying in BA for a few days after.
  9. Thanks for this. We are on the Amundsen Antarctic Circle Feb. 13. You gave some great info, especially about the 2:30 wake up, which isn't in the Hurtigruten info. I was also was wondering when they left port. Good to know.
  10. What is the laundry situation? Is there only the paid service through the ship, or is there self service laundry on board. What are the costs? Thanks
  11. Another question. We both have good sunglasses. (I have Ray Bans) do we need to buy ski goggles or is that overkill?
  12. Thanks. Looks like using a Visa card and getting pesos with Western Union is best.
  13. Thanks for the responses Alan and miklinga. This question might be far afield, but did exchange exchange for "Blue Dollars" in Argentina? If so, how did you change your money?
  14. Going on the Amundsen Feb 14, Antarctic Circle and have some questions. 1. What to wear on board. I know it's casual, but is the ship chilly inside. Do we need a sweater or polarfleece vest when going to eat? 2. Internet? How much is does it cost, and is it good for email and web searches through the trip? 3. Sunscreen? Is there restrictions on the type of sunscreen we can use due to environmental concerns. Thanks, I am sure I'll have more.
  15. I'll be on the QV, hope it works better than the QM2.
  16. Thanks for the responses.
  17. We haven't cruised since pre-Covid. On our Cunard cruises, the on board internet then was painfully slow, 15 minutes just to download email. I have been on other cruises with faster speed so it's not an "all cruises" thing. Would like to hear from anybody from a recent cruise on how the internet connections were on Cunard now. Thanks.
  18. This is for American passengers on Cunard. The Cunard site says not to use the card given out when vaccinated, but this is the proof that Americans get. I suppose they are referring to a NHS thing. What proof do Americans have to show on Cunard cruises. We are leaving in less than 2 weeks. My card attached Thank you.
  19. Thanks, I did not do that. I was just looking at the Cunard site.
  20. I am on a Canary Island cruise on the QV in late Oct-Nov. I have been all over the Cunard site but cannot find what shore excursions are being offered on the different islands. The Cruise page doesn't seem to have any links to this, even on the individual port pop-ups. What am I missing? Anybody know how one finds this out pre-voyage?
