  1. Hi everyone,

We are traveling with 24 girls, (Ecstasy 5 night Mon-Sat), all who want to do thier own thing but celebrating a birthday on Tuesday ( also formal night). A few girls booked the chefs table and were told the chef picks the night and they would be notified on the cruise. They are worried they don't want to miss the birthday celebration but would really enjoy the experience of the chefs table. I have searched and can't find mention if this really varies or is it usually one certain night. Pretty sure they wouldn't do it on Formal night???? Anyone that could put your thoughts in here on when it was for your cruise would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

  2. Thanks for your review!

    Two questions please:

1-when you order a glass of wine at dinner is it a nice pour?

2- do they ever just leave the bottle for you, to save themselves a trip? When we sail Celebrity they do this often, but there isn’t a limit on drinks either.

3-( okay one more question) did they ever forget about you at dinner for drinks? Glasses go empty?

    Thank you!

  3. I am cruising with 24 friends. We are getting the chat option for the Hub App. I have read the website and these threads about questions regarding the app but have not found an answer to my question. I understand it is slow and often drops messages. I get it. I'm sure it will help just a little in keeping us all in the know. Whats to loose for 5 bucks, right!

Can you tell me if we will all need each others phone numbers to connect, or do you go by cabin numbers, or just name? How do you send a message to someone else on the hub. I have read that you can even message other guests ( not traveling with you) on the ship. How doe sthis work?

I am putting together a booklet for all my guests with introductions and cabin numbers, I didn't know if I needed to get everyone phones numbers on this list or not.

Also, I read where it can show you what others in your group have favorited ( or want to do), does this app also let others know where you are on the ship?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

  4. I just gave my first time crusiers some tips as well. You have covered a lot, mine were happy to get these as well:

Bring an over the door shoe oragnizer for the bathroom to put toiletries in due to small counter space

Bring magnets to hang pictures, the dailies, tickets or what not on.

Bring a non surge protected power/extension cord ( only one outlet in the cabin)

Bring Towel clips to keep your towel on AND hang your swimsuits to dry.

Bring lots of $1's and $5's to tip with, you will get better service at the bar with advance tipping. Room service appreciate tips too!

You DO NOT need to pack a pool/beach towel, they provide them for you.

  5. Cute review with the confessions, I liked it! I am wondering, since you didn't say, if your last crusie was on Celebrity and you went back to Carnival for this one ( I know you mentioned the attractive itinerary) ? I am huge Celebrity fan, they really know how to make you feel special. But have booked a Carnival crusie for Fall due to port departure and a large group with different budgets. I personally like the smaller ships and old doesn't bother me, but I do like to feel that the crew is doing everything they can to make it "special" and not overwhelmed by short staff issues . That makes all the difference to me. Hopefully I will be pleasently surprised, but am going with lower expectations to hopefully help! ;) Would you still crusie Carnival again? Or is it back to Celebrity for you?

  6. Thanks Skypiglet! I am kind of picky about my ginger beer. It is such a waste when it is flat or not gingergy and if they just use ginger ale ( like some bars do) then it is down right WRONG! lol. I might have to bring my own Ginger beer if that is the case. At least now I know to bring a copper mug! Thanks for the tip! I can't believe they don't use copper mugs in even the Alchemy Bar. Crazy, a seasoned Mule drinker knows it DOES effect the taste! ;)

  7. We have 14 cabins booked and I used a travel agent who arranged EVERYTHING for me, took everyone's cc# info and preferences on cabins and booked it all, told me about tour conductor credits ( a percentage of everyone types of cabins books taken off MY fare) and let me pick several "gifts" to bestow on every cabin. I picked a cabin credit and a bottle of wine for each cabin, plus my TA is sending every cabin a gift as well. Amazing deal! I highly suggest using a TA!

  8. I thought I had read here a month or two ago that Carnival was starting a photo package? I'm absolutely sure I did in fact, because I was so excited. I can't find the thread now after searching "photo package", but I just went to add it to my cart and I don't see it offered? Ecstasy November 26th. Anyone know anything?

  9. Just curious. I know different states have different times for last call. Here in NC it is 2:30. When I lived in Atlanta GA it was 4:00. What time , or is there one, on the carnival ships?

  10. Atlantis with the kids, it was their favorite, lots to do

RIU for best value, paid $75 each (younger kids might’ve been less), buffet breakfast and lunch, good, plus open bar

Hi, where did you find this for $75 please? All I am finding is almost $100.

  11. We will be in Nassau this year and looking into day resorts as well. I'm following your responses. I'm following all the separate threads! Seems to me if you are drinking it makes the most sense for Sandals? Its the only one that includes unlimited drinks....and unlimited food, the others either don't include food or are just vouchers for a certain amount of food. I haven't seen any others with drinks at all? Are you finding anything else with drinks included?

  12. Just a note of clarification, Capt. Kate is the only female US Captain of a cruise ship. There have been several US women Captains of merchant ships, dating back 30 years to when Lynn Korwatch was given command of a Matson container ship when 8 months pregnant. Many of these women, having obtained their Captain's license are now serving as harbor pilots around the US.

Yes, I'm sorry, that is what I meant, of a cruise ship! ;)
