You're definitely on the tail end of hurricane season. Shouldn't be an issue.

Carnival has a limit for sure..15 drinks a day...period....not sure what other limits they have, but I know that is in place. It also appears they may have a $10 per drink limit..I have no idea how they handle it if it goes over, or what would go over. I see no place on Carnival site to get this drink package for gratuities only. Am I missing it?
Since Carnival "blows NCL away"..I guess there's nothing else to say.
Carnival's per drink maximum is $50 not $10.

j603. Just an FYI, In New Orleans they are called street cars.

We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Texas City off I-45.. Easy to get to for us coming from the east. Short 15 minute drive to the port. There are also other Holiday Inn properties on the island.

Thank you Saint Greg for trying to answer instead of telling me I am wrong.
I see Frankie's Liquor Store at 2218 Strand, 2 blocks from the terminal. It opens at 10am. I'm sure they would carry canned soft drinks.

So what would y'all say is the best time to arrive at the NOLA Julia Street port? I'm signed up for 11:30/12 but have a feeling this may be a very busy time...but also know I will have to check out of my hotel before then. Do you know if any hotels will hold luggage if I choose to wait until a later time (like 1/1:30)? (If it helps I'm at the Hampton Inn Convention Center Location.)
We had friends last month get there an hour before their appointed time and had no issues getting in early.
Traffic wasn't bad at all.

The street cars are usually a nice mix of both. Lugging large suitcases on to the street car may be a hassle.
You may want to use Uber for those short trips. The walk from the Quarter to the WWII museum is not bad for those who like to walk.
-
You may try a pedicab if you can find one. The walk from the terminal to Lafayette Square is really not that far and is an easy walk. About 7 small blocks.
-
We arrived at the parking garage at 11am on January 2nd and had no wait at all.
-
You shouldn't have any issues. Debarkation for us last month started at 7:30 and you were out of the terminal in 20 minutes then a 20 minute drive to MSY.

The I10 exit for about the super dome is at mile marker 234....the mile marker for the I10/I12 split in B.R is 159.....this is 75 miles. I do this for a living......your should try to keep up. YOU don't know what you are talking about.
Funny stuff. Why would anyone want to make a stop in Baton Rouge anyway?

We just got off 2 weeks ago. It was great. I'm not a fan of buffets so I had no issues there. You'll enjoy your trip.

Mother's on Poydras. Walk to Convention Center Blvd, take a right(3 blocks) to Poydras then left and 2 blocks to Mother's.

You may be able to find hotels that allow that across the river on the Westbank. Search for hotels in Algiers, Harvey, Gretna and Marrero.

Cruise port parking is easy. No need to prepay. Here's the link to the parking instructions. http://www.portno.com/parking

You can do either one from the airport to The Quarter. Not much of a difference in price. Same thing from hotel to the port. If you're staying in the Quarter or CBD/warehouse area it's a 5 minute ride to the port.
-
I don't think the port accepts prepayment. We were there 2 weeks ago and just paid upon entry. Real easy.

What a wonderful list. We will be sailing out of New Orleans on a 23 day riverboat cruise from New Orleans to Minnesota. Will we be able to see these hidden and historical from our riverboat?
Probably not. These sights are all downriver. You will be heading upriver.

We just got off the Triumph on Saturday. If we had done the earliest walk off we would have been at the airport for 8:30. They started at 7:15. 30 minutes to walk off and 20 -30 minutes drive to the airport. Allow time to check luggage and TSA.

I was more wondering about the first full sea day. Thanks

We left New Orleans a week ago today. Temperatures upon departure were 27 degrees. It was in the 60s the next morning. You should be good. Hopefully we don't see those kind of temperatures for a long time.

We will be staying in New Orleans Dec 14-16, 2018 prior to our cruise. My in laws, who are cruising with us, noticed that Expedia says rooms are 90% booked for that weekend. Hotwire isn't even booking out that far yet, so I am wondering - is it a busy weekend because of an event and everything *really* is booked up already? Or are we just too far out at this point for good availability and rates?
They booked the Hampton Convention Center and I just made a no penalty cancellation reservation there as well to be on the safe side, but I don't really know if this is a good choice for pre-cruise sightseeing, or if we should keep looking? I wouldn't normally even be thinking about the hotel yet.
Any thoughts are appreciated!
That is probably the weekend of the New Orleans Bowl plus the Saints will probably be in town that weekend.

I saw it there Saturday morning when getting off the Triumph. What's so special about that ship?

Carnival: 1-800-227-6482 . Here's the Carnival contact number for them to leave you a message in case of emergency on the ship.

Just looking at buoy temperatures in the mid-Gulf and current temp is 74 degrees. Temperature in New Orleans this morning is 41. We leave Tuesday so we are expecting short weather temps by mid day Wednesday. Temp at West Delta 143(Shell platform out of SW Pass) now is 53. It should begin to warm up after you get into the Gulf.

Started pulling some of the flood gates yesterday on the Bonnet Carre Spillway upriver from New Orleans. Should help with the water levels downriver.
