  1. Although you say you want to do a tour on your own, I would recommend the 'free' walking tour (Google it).

When I took it the route we took was excellent, and was not one I would have taken with a guide book.

The tours are 'free' in the sense of if you like the tour give the guide a tip at the end, if you don't like it, there are plenty of opportunities to make a quiet exit early on.

That is our plan also. We've booked 2 of them in Athens on our upcoming cruise. We'll choose 1 and cancel the other. We did one of their tours at Harvard in the fall and it was great.

  2. Does anyone know how Princess handles B2B cruisers in the Mediterranean? Have to get off and back on?

We're trying to arrange a tour in Athens on our turnaround day. Trying to maximize our time in Athens to see as much as possible. Ship is scheduled to be in port at 4am with a 7pm departure.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Never heard of EZAir, but did see the land/cruise option. Might look into that. Thanks for the tour info, I'm interested in doing something like that. Sometimes I will book with the cruise to avoid last minute rushing back to the ship and to make sure we get back on! :)

Did you need to apply for a visa to do the private tour?

We also cruised in May in 2015. Great ship. Weather will be very nice. Being from La. we were a bit chilled. No swimming or people hanging out at deck bars in the evening.

We used Alla Tours and needed no visas in St, Pete. You don't need them if you are on a tour. You will need one(not worth it) if you tour on your own.

Book the cruise. You won't regret it.

  4. I'm going on my next cruise with just my 2 children, this time. I will most likely leave my youngest in the camp during dinner since he doesn't do well with long dinners. I'm not 100% sure if my oldest will want to join me each time in the dining room. Will they sit us or just myself with other people, or will I have to eat alone? I choose my time dining

    However you choose.

  5. We have a chance to book a 9:45 am flight out of San Juan this November.

Summit due to arrive at 6:00 am.

    Will we make the flight?

    Considerable savings to later flight.

    All input appreciated.

    Thanks

Just don't use Celebrity's Choice Air. They will jack you around and move your flight back to 11AM. We made the mistake of using them in December. It happened to us. Never again.

On our December B2B we were off the ship at 7:10 and at the airport for about 7:30. We would have had plenty of time to make the 9:45. It was actually across the hall from our waiting area.

To answer the question, yes most definitely. You're probably just coming over from St. Thomas which is only 60 miles away.

  6. We had good experiences in 2015 with:

Denali - McKinley Creekside Cabins (offers both rooms and cabins; on-site restaurant).

    Good luck.

I'll second McKinley Creekside. We did it in 2006 and are doing it again in June. They were that good.

  7. Cajun (and Tex Mex for that matter) is too spicy. The whole trend toward spicy foods is horrible, imo, and often hides good food just behind heat.

Not TRUE CAJUN food. Seasoning to enhance the flavor but not to over power it.

All these knock off "Cajun" restaurants just ruin the reputation of true Cajun cooking.

They should keep the Bistro as is.

I'm sure there are only a handful of Princess ships that sail to Alaska. At this time I'm not sure which ship will be released but I think they are all pretty much the same.

    Thanks in advance.[/quote]

Next year it is the Star, Coral and Island. All smaller ships.
  9. P8 is the only one that can fit the Regal.

  10. The Baltic ..Copenhagen round trip.

    Oslo - Downtown. Walk off

Tallinn - Old Town. Walk off.

Warnemunde - Walk off if you stay in Warnemunde. 3 hours to Berlin.

Stockholm - If at Nynashamn. 1 hour shuttle. Others close to downtown.

Gothenburg - 10 minute shuttle to town

Helsinki - Mine's docked at West Harbor. 15 minute shuttle to town.

At Petersburg - Downtown but you can't get off ship unless you book with a tour or have a visa.

    Thanks!

Same ports as my Regal cruise on 5/13. See above.

  11. Prish,

I wanted to visit the Ice Bar when we are in port May 18. I have been trying to book a reservation since the 60 day mark. I finally emailed them. Turns out that the whole day is booked up with group bookings from the cruise ships. I am pretty upset and disappointed as I have been emailing the Ice Bar since last October and on every email I stated the date and time. They kept telling me to wait and book within 60 days. My last email from them was yesterday asking if I wanted a reservation at 1630 as that was the earliest they have for that day. I have to be back on the ship by 1600. Booking via the cruise ship is $100 USD per person. Way too much! This was a birthday present to a friend I am traveling with. I am now at a loss as to a substitution.

    Hope you have better luck.

Save your money. We've done an Ice Bar once and it's just not worth the hassle.
