  1. Bartenders have told me that it's often faster for them to use your room number as their devices get overwhelmed as when it's crowded, lots of other passenger photos show up on their tablets. Trying to find one of many passengers with gray hair and glasses can be a slow process and prone to error.
  2. It doesn't use wifi but it isn't inert. It does have a battery and does transmit a very low power signal when required.
  3. While most dress code threads are entertaining, this has been one of the best!
  4. This ^^^ EZair does not charge baggage fees. Airlines do. Take a look at EZair's fine print and you'll see they inform you that baggage fees are a separate item and up to the airline.
  5. I have the same error on the Sun Princess for a June 1, 2024 trip. I was also told we're too far out to actually book excursions.
  6. Thanks so much for that. It reminds me of the mailer they used to send out, minus the itineraries and plus all the advertising hype. I noticed that at least on the Caribbean Princess, not all the cabins (aft Caribe deck for instance) are labeled. Here's to the Princess proof-readers!
  7. DW also has celiac and for her the experience is the same with the MDR. Ordering the night before allows the chefs to make sure they're ready for particular allergies and restrictions. DW found that most offerings could be made gluten-free with advance notice. In the buffet, DW would ask for the "Chef du Parti (sp?)" who would take her around the various offerings and show her what she could and could not have.
  8. You don't have to check in online. It's OK to check in at the airport. However, in some circumstances with overbooked flights, time of check in may be a consideration when deciding who must be bumped and IMHO, that's pretty rare. Checking in online ahead of time can save you a little bit of time at the airport if all that needs to be done is get your bags tagged dropped off.
  9. We just checked our three bookings on American Airlines. It's interesting as one is an EZair booking and the other two we booked on the AA.com website. The EZair booking has in the first_name field a mashup of Full_First_NameFull_Middle_Name Prefix and then nothing in the middle name field and then the correct last name field. I.e. "JohnJames Mr" "" "Doe". Our reservations booked on the aa.com website are correctly populated with first, middle and last names. Now all that said, the mashup has been discussed in previous postings and it is acceptable to security agencies and the airlines. What I realize here is that it's EZair doing the mashup, not the airlines!
  10. I hope it's not serious. A winking emoji might have helped here.
  11. At the back of the shelf formerly used to hold the old CRT-style television is a dual North American socket. This is in addition to the sockets in the desk area.
  12. Yes we do. It's a word that has evolved from its roots.
  13. And 'just like that', I logged in and my booking is back to normal with the correct cabin and the Princess website also shows all the Med cruises too.
  14. Hopefully it's temporary as the new Caribbean itineraries came out today. Maybe something got screwed up with the release. Two deck plans have historically been about reclassifying cabins and not true physical changes to the ship. My TA called a little bit ago. He checked with his contacts at Princess and they are clueless over there. What he sees through POLAR is all the Med sailings are on hold and nothing can be done with them. His feeling on this from many years of experience with Princess is the ship build schedule has gotten so far behind, they're pausing the inaugural sailings until they can get a better handle on what the real completion schedule will be. I'm now looking at backup bookings ... something I've gotten used to doing during and just after COVID.
  15. It's only the sailings in the Med and the trans-Atlantic that have disappeared.
  16. I'm curious if Princess replaces stuff like I do on my car. If a part wears out that has a "twin" or better, I replace them all, especially if it's a part that's critical to operation or safety, ie rod ends, ball joints, wiper blades, headlights, suspension bushings, etc. One would hope they did as part of a preventive maintenance program, especially when one failing severely impacts them financially as well. Given that this part is critical to Zone 7, I would think there are likely at least 6 other similar parts that could have the same problem soon.
  17. So today I reviewed my booking for the June 1 2024 21-day cruise on the Sun Princess. Our cabin has changed from a specific DD cabin to one that is only guaranteed. Really liked the cabin we had as it was a great location! Good thing I regularly save the travel summaries with a dated file name. Have an email into my TA to see what's up. Also took a look at the available cruises for the Sun Princess and not one of the inaugural voyages in the Mediterranean nor the trans-Atlantic to FLL show up. Anyone know what's going on? Has there been a production delay?

  19. Aw come on, the next line is pretty obvious ... "Love me suite"
  20. I may be incorrect about this but every cabin must be booked with at least one person 21years of age or older. That said, if the cabin next to you is a connecting cabin, there could be an exception. The problem may be that your account is linked to one specific room and the kids are in another. Your account will not access the kids booking. If there's one adult in each room (i.e. booking), that adult can then access that room's booking and acknowledge the contract. Many people physically end up with arrangements like you've stated but they're booked with an adult in each room and just change to what they like when on board. Guest Services will even update the door lock programming so the medallions will open all the necessary doors.
  21. I suppose this sample includes nursing homes, hospitals and other communal living situations. It would be nice to see the data for only cruise ships.
  22. Many great ideas here. My favorite is smaller ships and couple that with more exotic itineraries.
  23. A cabin change packing "hack" we use that's made things easier for us. You're not going home so don't pack your bags that way. We pack our bags by cabin area. Grab a bag and take it to the desk. Put all the desk stuff in. Put all the stuff on the shelves around the refrigerator in your bags. Go to the night stands and pack them. Stay in the same area of the cabin until the bag is full or you've emptied that area. Grab another bag and empty the all the bathroom items into it. If there's room left, grab the items on the shelves just outside the bathroom door. DW won't put items from the safe into a bag for the crew to move but puts all that into a carry-on and moves it personally to the new cabin. Keep on doing this and unpacking is a breeze as all your items in each bag stay in the same kind of area in the new cabin. You aren't going back and forth placing stuff where it belongs.
  24. Historical usage rate for gift cards of all types is around 75% so there is still profit to be made selling them at a 10% discount. That said, I would expect usage of Princess GCs to be higher than 75% but unless we hear from the Princess accounting department or the discount diminishes or even disappears, we'll probably never have a clue.
