  1. Your negative test will get you on a plane. Yesterday at JFK I spoke with a young man who told me that he had gone to Mexico for Spring break last month. He had no idea he needed a negative test to return home. He purchased one outside of the airport before boarding. By that I mean, it was NOT his test, but he was able to purchase one that was accepted by the airline. Testing negative by Day 5 would be unlikely but it might point to the first test being false positive.
  2. My husband is emotionally drained. This trip was to help us heal after cancer surgery and the fears that come with that. He should have been able to rest and recover but this nightmare made that impossible. There was no place to even walk, let alone exercise. And before the pile drivers jump on, he was medically cleared to travel.
  3. We have a World Cruise planned for January 2023. It was for 100 days. it will be canceled this week after I have made my insurance claims for the past month. We have taken two other World Cruises in the past five years. Those days have ended for us as a result of our experience. I had the flu off the coast of Australia in 2018. The ship carried Tamiflu. I took it. I had five days of quarantine. I had two visits a day from the Hazmat team who cleaned our suite. I had two physical visits daily from the Medical staff. When my temperature dropped and I was feeling better, I was released and was permitted to continue the cruise. The total lack of communication as to what to expect was deplorable during this cruise. I met two gentlemen at the ITA lounge yesterday. I had first met them when they were boarding in Civitavecchia two weeks ago. I spoke to them a number of times when I was still able to move around the ship. They told me that they had tested positive the night before they were to disembark the ship. Knowing what I told them helped them decide what to do. They had a difficult time finding a hotel in the Rome area. After a few hours they found one on a beach where they isolated. They tested negative and were able to fly home. So to those who still feel compelled to focus on the unbelievability of my story, take a walk in my shoes. And to those who have believed my reality and made changes as a result, I thank you for your support.
  4. the meal on the Delta flight home was amazing. The salad was cold and crisp. The soup was nourishing. The main meal of Short rib was delicious and hot. The kindness was priceless. I made a ham soup out of food that I had already in my freezer for supper tonight,
  5. You seem abnormally attached to the whole vegetable thing. Much of what I have said seems unbelievable to you.
  6. I do detect sarcasm fairly well, and you are extremely sarcastic. I will pray for you.
  7. Thank you for your support. That is exactly what I meant. NO, THEY DID NOT WITHHOLD VEGETABLES! The Room Service menu is bleak at best. Try that for two meals a day for an unlimited time. But when it is the only thing that is offered, it is dreadful. AND when it is embarkation day, as it is every 7 days, the room service hours are limited.
  8. So sorry I have been MIA. We had one hell of a return to the USA, but we are finally home. The Rome airport is a nightmare for many right now. If I might recommend doing what we had ORIGINALLY planned to do. arrange your flights for the day after you disembark. So many ships showed up in Civitavechia yesterday and everyone was trying to return to the USA. (for the most part) Even if you have the Certificate of Recovery, make certain that you also have the document from your FIRST positive test. The Certificate of Recovery states all of that , but you also must show the first test. Take a photo of it on your electronic device to show at the airport. But my recommendation is stay at home until the World and the USA have adapted to this situation.
  9. For everyone who has been so supportive and kind, I finally tested negative. Our bags are packed and we are awaiting reassignment. We will fly home tomorrow. So many of you have lifted me up in hope. I pray none of you ever find yourselves in my position. Thank you.
  10. Mark, as you are in the UK right now, you have fewer issues regarding flights home. As there is no test requirement there would not be any reason to test. I suspect many from the UK have simply disembarked in Civitavecchia knowing that they have Covid, but also knowing that they would be fine to fly home.
  11. DO NOT TRAVEL. My husband had PC surgery at the end of August. We had this cruise as our line of hope to get us through the difficulties. I know well what you are going through. This has been a true nightmare because unlike other countries, Italy has different policies. I have to test negative or else wait until May 30. We have been in confinement since April 30;
  12. We realized that we had an obligation to report my husband's situation to the Medical department when he tested positive in our suite on Day 8 of our Transatlantic. I was subsequently tested daily for 5 days, It turned into 6 because of other issues. Then when I started to feel like crap on Day 10 of his quarantine, I tested and went to the Medical center. I tested positive and have been in isolation until further notice. This started on April 30. .
  13. My husband was asked about his contacts. He truthfully informed them that we were not traveling with anyone else, just me and him. I was not asked. I went through the first five days of close contact testing. I was good for another four days and then I realized that I had to self test and when that test came back positive, I went to Medical.
  14. thank you for those kind words. The poor young lady who handles our situation form Customer Relations is so devastated over what is happening. I have a hiatal hernia which chose to act up during this voyage and also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. So nothing life changing or life threatening. And I am supremely healthy. BUT there is no accounting for the tastes of Covid 19. Apparently it has heard that I am a great person to hang out with. I have kept my sense of humor mostly intact. But the sanity comes and goes. Some days I feel like I have hit my head on the top of the coffin. This is claustrophobic to say the least. And for those saying, well at least you get fed. Sure that is true. Try eating Room Service every day. Today is lobster night AGAIN!!!! I am the stateroom attendant. I change the sheets and wash the floors. IT is really not fun.
  15. I am asymptomatic. BUT I test positive every day. We had an alternate plan . We were booked for three weeks on Regal Princess. As I have mentioned before, had we disembarked all expenses would be our own. My Italian is non existent. I am now on Day 11 of testing positive. We should have been off this ship on May 6. Our return flights on May 29 were attached to my booking with Princess. Those disappeared on the day we could not join the ship. We had Business class tickets. Tell me how we would get tickets reasonably priced if we were to book. them ourselves now? We did the right thing for boarding. We had our vaccinations. We had our boosters. We did not spend much time around others but my husband got Covid. At this point why would I disembark with my Positive test history? Might I suggest that everyone who comes to Italy PREPARE themselves for a 21 day isolation in the event that they are like me and have nasal passages which seem to love Covid. I cannot for the life of my understand why this is happening to me but it is. And if it can happen to me, dont just smugly walk away thinking, well that will not be me. Guess what? I thought that too.
  16. Italys rules. I learned today that I will remain on this ship until I either test negative, OR we celebrate May 29. That was what Customer Service told me. They are testing me every morning until whichever comes first. No negative test, no Certificate. May this point I expect every Television network to be at the Indianapolis Airport, not for the Indy 500, but for my repatriation. And if anyone thinks that I am doing well mentally through this, they would be wrong.
  17. Jim, So happy you are getting home. I am despondent and was tested again today on Celebrity Edge. This is Day 10 for me. My husband has chosen to stay with me in this hell. He is now on Day 19. They tell me that in order to fly home I must test negative. They tell me that in order to get the Certificate of Recovery, I must test negative.
  18. I too would like that link. I am symptom free as is a gentleman a few doors down We have no idea as to when we are going to be released.
  19. Thank you, the psychological anguish has started to really hit hard. My Day 12 of testing is on May 20 .The cruise ends in Civitavecchia on May 21. IF I am negative I can go to the aiport. Whether I am permitted boarding is another story. From the first time that Celebrity rebooked our flights, my name was incorrectly keyed in. I mentioned this to CS and was told that it would be taken care of. So another flight was booked once I tested positive because my Day 7 test was the day after we arrived in Civitavecchia. Once again the misspelling of my name. And I mentioned this yesterday and today and am still waiting for changed tickets. I am not holding my breath. My husband tested positive on April 30. We have not eaten at a real table since then, either of us. I would love it if we could test negative and disembark but there are few options for flights home from some of the smaller islands.
  20. Just wondering if there is anyone who has an email that is workable to get some answers. I just saw that Celebrity Reflection, which sailed on April 18 to Rome, arriving May 2, allowed the Covid passengers to isolate for ten days and then return to their original cabin for the remainder of their cruise. That means on the new back to back that they were not planning to be on. I am trying to understand why our regulations are that much different considering that we left in the same month and arrived in the same month to the same port. Thanks Evan Hi! Thanks for your note. We are doing much better and received news around noontime today that we may stay onboard and finish our quarantine on deck 3 and when negative we can rejoin our cruise friends and return to our original stateroom!🥰🥳 Celebrity is doing great by us with good care and helping us to complete our wonderful vacation! We are very thankful for our good fortune!
  21. Watch this space. I am going to find out soon enough. I test again on May 20, which will be Day 12 for me. Failing then will result in another 9 days. Of course, I should have known better. I was called today and told that they are trying to see if it is possible for me to test earlier than Friday but I am not holding out hope. I am trying to ascertain the rules for isolation post positive test for flying back to the USA via KLM.
  22. Goodluck. We are not tested except on Day 7 and day 12. I will be the test case for those who still test positive after day 12 in Italy. IF so, we remain onboard until Day 21. Those are not my rules, those are Italy's.
  23. I dont know, but considering the cameras are everywhere I did not want to find out. When we were finally able to go without our masks I did meet up with another woman whose room mate was in the same quarantine situation as I was and we would eat alone in a corner of the Ocean View. Oddly she was with the Casino group and they were permitted to drink at the Casino when they gambled. Go Figure. The Science is baffling.
  24. Thank you for that. My husband and I booked the Retreat in April of 2021. We did not move up as there was no incentive to move from a Sky suite to any other suite lower than a Royal suite. However the entire Retreat experience was no longer ours after April 30, when he tested positive. He was in quarantine, eating off paper products and I was relegated to eating room service for every meal. This has not changed. I had one dinner in the Luminae after I was no longer expected to wear a mask everywhere and then I tested positive on May 9. Obviously not from my husband. . The reports on the Italian Government run hotels are frightening. As for the Medical department checking on us, nobody has called me regarding Covid in tow days. And when we call Customer Relations to ask to speak to Medical we are asked why we want to speak to them. The information is then sent to the Medical Department who decide if they want to take the call. There are two distinct Medical specialties, Covid and regular. God forbid you are both, like I have been. I had to call to get my IV line removed this afternoon . Nobody called me to ask how I was feeling despite having IV meds yesterday.
