Thanks for reply Majortom 10 just the normal. At least that's a bit more if prices hold for the next  4 weeks fingers crossed .Did you have a good cruise?

Yes it was a lot better than when we went on Arvia last September.

  2. We disembarked this morning off Arvia and as we were walking across to CPS car park noticed a queue outside of terminal waiting to embark and there was also a queue of cats waiting  to be checked in by CPS. The time was 1010am and you can understand P&O making strict rules about boarding when people are arriving this early. To be honest cannot understand the logic of people arriving that early or the benefit. Having said that seeing the queue at 1645pm of people waiting outside MDR last week for a restaurant that doesn't open until 1730pm beggars belief.

Interesting. Nationwide didn’t even require the missed port letters, let alone the invoice, as they’d already had a claim from another passenger. Took the claim in complete trust. Very impressive.

Yes same thing happened to us with Nationwide was very impressed. Will be interesting to see how things will be different when Aviva take over travel insurance.

Hi Majortom 10 did you get anything extra and what deposit was it ?On her in 4 weeks holding on for anything extra hopefully

Sorry have not responded but had no internet onboard only in ports. No great deal just £100 per cabin and free parking for a 14nt Medical Cruise on Arvia. Think you get more OBC if you don't have parking and deposit was £100pp.

Im trying to set up my Stockperks profile and every time I click on Carnival it says Oops sorry something went wrong try again later. Been doing this for over a day now, anyone else experienced this? Its for a cruise in June

Working OK for me have just checked it.

  7. Today received e mail from Cunard about my up and coming cruise on QA in July and the benefits of a Diamond member of CWC. Interestingly it states "A complimentary meal in one of our speciality restaurants" but does not say which ones or any value.

    Strange.

I've always been in senior business management. Our H & S people used to tell us never to use that word over the PA system. We had a notice permanently displayed at the microphone which was to be read over the PA in an emergency, viz: "Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please. It is necessary to evacuate the premises for a short period. Please leave by the nearest exit."

The 1929 Glen cinema disaster in Paisley, near Glasgow, was always quoted. 71 children died when somebody shouted "FIRE" and there was a stampede to the exits, which were locked. There was no fire.

Well we were on Arcadia one night in the buffet at about 12-30 am and there was an announcement to alert staff and it was all over the ship. It stated there was a fire on deck 2. We watched staff run to a door and all their fire kit and breathing apparatus was inside. We watched them get dressed then a short time later the Captain made a further announcement what caused the alarm and told all staff to "stand down".

That logic is not quite right - yes it may only cost Carnival £15 but by definition they are then losing £135 profit.

Not necessarily so because would people buy the same amount using OBC if it was their own money. If not then Carnival wouldn't be losing so much profit.

  10. Always use a credit card for all cruise lines we have cruised on and never had an issue. Would never register a debit card. The only issue we have ever had is with Princess we paid balance for a cruise and then a fortnight later took it again. Luckily we were still in the limits of our credit card and was quickly refunded and as a sorry Princess gave us a free drinks package for the cruise. P&O had same issue and offered some £50 OBC as compensation. We met one couple on our cruise and we mentioned the double payment and the free drinks package as compo and they said the same thing happened to them but the didn't get a free drinks package. Oops!!!

I’ve now had the revised booking confirmation from our TA showing the $250 OBC (Cunard) has been added. Interesting that you get more OBC with Cunard than P&O. In my case, using Stockperks was a much slower and more frustrating experience than applying to Carnival directly, but at least it’s done now.

I reckon that the OBC that I’ve been credited with in the first year that I’ve owned the shares is now over 150% of the total cost of the shares, and the shares themselves have increased in value by over 50% so, in total, I’ve trebled my investment in 12 months. I wish that all my other shares in the past had been as lucrative 😂

Think you only get more because of the exchange rate as it has been those set figures for years. The exchange rate used to be a lot better in the past than current exchange rates so there was very little difference.

  12. We had one occasion of a fire on a cruise when the announcement was made into the cabins by during the night. The fire or cause of the fire alarm was quickly sorted and a relevant announcement was made. Next morning at breakfast it was a hot topic of discussion and many said they got up got dressed and put their lifejackets on.

  13. Have had issues of fire or suspected fire whilst onboard cruises a few times and a the word 'fire' was always used. Having spent all my working life as a firefighter giving full information as soon as possible creates less panic than giving nothing or fabricated announcements.

  14. Melodramatic over reaction by The Sun as usual intertwined with total nonsense. Machinery in engine rooms does overheat occasionally and might catch fire dealt with many with over 30 yrs as a firefighter. Sure it was dealt with rapidly and efficiently with no risk to any personnel onboard.

  15. I check my account on the so called App every day after suffering erroneous extra charges on our account. They were dealt with either by Pursers desk or with Bar Manager in Grills Lounge for a very expensive bottle of wine. Mistakes are often made and on one occasion my drinks were not going on my account and whenever was served was always called the wrong name. So obviously he thought I was somebody else and put my bills on his account. Did report it to Concierge and she laughed and said it was a first for customer complaint of drinks not going on their account.

I see! Did you get the impression that they’d move you if you insisted? My concern is ending up in a balcony visible from above. We are currently booked in a balcony but privacy is essential for us. A larger balcony, but not private, isn’t an upgrade for us. I don’t usually fuss but as it’s our honeymoon, and being a lady, I’d be heartbroken if we had to spend the time hiding from view! Must spend many afternoons relaxing in my robe! 🙂

I hadnt got a clue of upgrade and neither had my TA until I checked in and downloaded boarding passes and luggage labels and noticed cabin numbers were different. TA phoned Cunard and confirmed upgrade but there was no mention of whether I had a choice or if I wanted to keep original booked cabin. As it was it was upgrade from inside cabin to highest balcony cabin so was happy to accept.
