  1. So why Steven Gerrard especially has he doesn't live in UK at the moment and what has the connection of Liverpool to do with QA. I am sure Cunard could do far better than any overrated and overpaid footballer.

Sture Myrmell hasn't updated his Linkedin profile. 🙂

He was in the post in spring 2022 and I didn't find an update in my quick search.

Sture Myrmell left Carnival Corporation and was replaced by Paul Ludlow in and was announced in May 2023.

If you don't have this already, you could try it if you have difficulty resolving the problem:

I think the president of Cunard UK is Katie McAlister and president Carnival UK is Sture Myrmell.

Individual emails should be in form: firstname.surname@carnivalukgroup.com

President of Carnival UK is Paul Ludlow.

It would but the problem there is that none of the terminals that P&O use can cater for 5,000+ passengers as they were only designed for 3,000 passengers.

So as already been said the terminals are not fit for purpose for the ships they serve. That says a lot about P&O incompetent senior managers who have the large ships.

You’re missing the point. I HAVE been in that situation, in fact earlier this month. Still doesn’t give us the right to arrive earlier than the stated time.

I have never said it gives anyone the right to arrive earlier than there stated time. Just think it is poor practice to send old, disabled or people in wheelchairs away or make them stand in a queue in all weathers when there is a purpose built terminal with hundreds of empty chairs.. Surely common sense would allow people with stated difficulties to sit inside until their nominated times on their boarding passes.

No they don't have a Medallion that opens all the doors - there are hidden controls on the door panel that the stewards, and others, can access and enter appropriate codes to open the door.

It has been stated many times that the Princess Medallion does not constantly track where everybody is on the ship if for no other reason that the amount of data would be massive. What is logged is where you are when you use your Medallion (bar, shop, ashore etc) in exactly the same way that you are logged using a traditional cruise card.

That is what Princess want you to think but having used Medallion many times and think the reality is totally different.

I find interesting observing people's priorities.

My main concern regarding wearing a tracking device - which the Princess medallion absolutely is - is the loss of personal privacy in regards to my physical location. The matter is not "I'm not doing anything wrong and therefore I have nothing to hide". What truly matters is that your movements are being tracked 24/7 on board, and you have no idea who is looking at that data, how it is being used, or how it will be used in the future. And marketing departments smartly package a tracking device as a convenience tool.

Hope no one takes this as a personal offense; it is intended as raising awareness of privacy concerns.

Very true we were once in a bar on Princess that was holding a private party for Elite members of the Captains Circle Club. The waiter came over to a couple at the next table and told them what was happening and asked them politely to leave. He came to us and said no problem Mr ******* I know you are Elite members. We had never seen the waiter before so he got all my details from the Medallion in my pocket. Big Brother is certainly watching especially on a Princess cruise and it is not to my liking.

What would happen if you had a 8pm restaurant reservation but arrived at 7pm do you believe that they should allow you in or get someone with an earlier booking to wait for your table so you can have theirs?

The fact that the original poster wanted an earlier embarkation time and even after reading posts they still said they would arrive 1hour 45 minutes earlier and hope for the best highlights the problems P&O face. I have been upstairs in the Ocean terminal when it has been packed it was not a pleasant experience I much prefer arriving on time and breezing through. I don’t think it would be good  if there was a fire or another  incident trying to evacuate a full terminal.

I would also like to say it’s ok for me to reserve two sun beds on both sides of the ship it’s only four beds but please don’t everyone do it otherwise nobody will be able to find a bed.

Yes much better to arrive on time and "breeze" through as no doubt you arrive by car and have that option. But like all my posts not everyone is fortunate to be able to arrive and "breeze" through check-in. They have lot more issues if using public transport and have no control of arrival time and don't think P&O are considerate for those in that situation.

Arrived by Public transport plenty of times. Cross Country trains at best you can barely get a seat for a 3hr journey unless you book 1st Class. Even then you could not get a wheelchair on because of how crowded it was. You missed a way get a taxi to a hotel without going to the terminal first. I wonder how many come by train on their own. I would say more come in a car or even get dropped off.

I care about people who can't manage. My sister would not be able to manage standing in queue for so long but hey you plan accordingly.

I get the impression on here that many have the attitude"I am alright jack" with there so easy nip drop your luggage off nip back into town and kill 2-3 hrs or go IKEA. Sorry but not easy to kill 2-3 hrs if you are old, disabled or in a wheelchair. IKEA is a long walk for people who have difficulties and many have attitude nip here nip there park here when isn't feasible for some. I just hope one day they don't become disabled or in a wheelchair they might suddenly have a different opinion. Sorry but many on here have a very selfish attitude and I hope they never have to be in situation of needing a wheelchair or have to push loved one in it or become disable or infirm and struggle to walk distances.

Old and infirm or in wheel chair you get assistance  so all this doesn't apply! So not relevant!

If you aren't and don't qualify for assistance then, no issue having a coffee or whatever in Southampton and arriving on time.

Come by car, go to M&S or IKEA for a coffee

You might get assistance at the terminal but if you arrive by train and old, inform or in a wheelchair 2-3 hrs before your boarding time you have 3 choices 1) sit in cafe on railway station with your suitcases 2) get a taxi to terminal drop luggage then taxi back to town centre because not everyone can walk that far then kill 2-3 hrs then get another taxi back to terminal for boarding time or 3) arrive early and be made to wait outside terminal in cold and possible rain.

None of the above are ideal and do apply and not everyone arrives by car but those that do don't seem to care or give a thought about those that arrive by public transport.

I was thinking of taking this cruise in October of this year. I saw the video that somebody posted of a prior performance with the chorus and it does not look like a full orchestra maybe 20 to 30 members. I know this is an old thread, but could somebody please clarify if the full hundred piece orchestra is on board plane or is it a scaled down version.

Also Watching the video, it didn’t sound very good. Any more insight into this would be great. Thanks.

Just think what you are asking can you imagine a full 100piece orchestra on stage in the theatre. It is obviously a scaled down orchestra but is excellent and possibly the best crossing we have ever done.

The people arriving on public transport can control though like I said deliver luggage then go and do something else it’s not hard. Even if disabled they can do exactly the same. If they know they will have to wait just go to a hotel for time being. Trains are not the best especially with luggage I wonder how they get on. If they really suffer then they should be requesting assistance and all being well get on early.

All very well and good but like so have said previously if you are arriving by train and old, infirm or in a wheelchair delivering your luggage and going to do something else can be very hard.

From the outside it seems like the big thing is that it costs money. The other major thing is that Carnival Corp appeared to have allowed each brand to do its own thing IT wise rather than just having one system that works across all brands. So deploying one app across all brands isn't possible unless they spend even more money on harmonising both shore side and ship side IT operations. I doubt the bean counters think that is worth it even if it might reduce ongoing costs.

I'd like to see something like Princess's solution across all brands. I was impressed by it when I tried Princess last year although it does have it's bugs too. But having an app shouldn't mean a reduction in staffing or forcing everyone to go down the app route if they don't want to. But I'd love to be able to order a drink from any sun lounger and have it find me without having to wait someone to come and take my order.

And if they could allow you to use your phone or smartwatch as a cruise card, that would be ideal!

We first used Princess App before COVID in 2019 and there were many issues, faults and bugs. Still doesn't seem to be totally effective so personally think it is a step too far for Cunard.  With regards sitting on a sun lounger requesting a drink has never really worked. We used to lie on deck and order a drink then watch the waiter wander around ages with our drinks because it was never very accurate. Used to end up shouting or waving arms to the waiter. In its early days you couldn't use app to order 2 drinks one for yourself and one for wife even with drinks package because it automatically charged your account for second drink. So we both had to order individually on each smartphone and then the drinks would never be delivered together sometimes a long time between delivery of each drink.

I don’t assume every person is the same. In this situation, I would suggest a coffee in the station - like we had in M&S. Then take a taxi at an appropriate time.

So you are suggesting old, disabled or those with wheelchairs if they arrive by train to sit in station cafe with all their luggage for possibly 2-3 hrs. I am sure you wouldn't be happy doing that so why should they.

Drop the luggage off and go to a hotel nearby jump on the shuttle bus free of charge. Start of the holiday go and enjoy lunch or a beer, instead of rushing to get on in some cases people are afraid they are going to miss out the ship is not going anywhere.... If driving down go and park up somewhere for a bit. If the ship is delayed because of a deep clean or weather for instance people still turn up expecting to get on at the original time even though they have been told to delay the check in time listed by a couple of hours. Obviously can't help with trains but you can still go to a hotel or where ever.

Everyone knows the options when driving to Southampton regarding boarding times but nobody can give a sensible answer on those, which there are many, who travel by public transport i.e coach, trains. They have no control of time they arrive and therefore can have problems killing time which is exasperated if they are old or disabled with luggage. Unfortunately there are many on here who are OK with arriving at boarding times and knock those who have a totally different situation which they control. I am afraid it is a case of I am alright jack and have no thought of those that have issues with arriving close to boarding times.

  16. The only issue I can see is you will be unable to pre book before the cruise due to number of people so missing out on 20% discount. By the time you get onboard there might be no availability. Get your TA or phone P&O to ask the question.

My mother is elderly and uses a walker. She turned up at her given time so no need to be left out in the cold! Passengers shouldn’t be arriving early!

However, I do think that any vulnerable passengers who DO turn up at their given time and then find a queue should be allowed to shelter.

She was very fortunate obviously arriving by private car or taxi but what happened if P&O gave her a boarding time of 3-30pm and she was travelling to Southampton by train and her only train arrived at midday. What would she suggest do then, just because it is convenient for you don't assume every person is in same position.
