  1. Cruiselines usually do not list all the cabins that are available. For instance, cabin 1234 may not be showing on Carnival's website, but it is available if you ask for it.

A better way to check how your cruise is selling is to check categories. Are all categories listed? Are there less than 4 cabins showing in each category? Are only a few outside cabin categories left? That's how I gauge if my cruise is selling well. I might be wrong.

  2. We were on Paradise several years ago and dh still talks about the pizza.

Can you describe how the pizza is set up on Legend? On Paradise you could go any time and fresh pizza was available or they would make you your own individual pizza or calzone (this was what dh loved). Is it the same on Legend.

Since Legend is a little older than we like:

    - Is it still in good condition?

    - Anyone know when it was last in drydock?

Also, we were just off Magica, which is modeled after Carnival ships (Triumph and Victory). What we hated was it always felt crowded; is Legend better? Is there a quiet place to go to during the day (besides our balcony)?

  3. Funny but RCCL and others also use PODS - and I have never heard of a Royal Caribbean Ship with a pod failure.

Surprising that the NCL which was built by Meyerwerft has problems

ABB inherently is or should be reliable - me thinks that people are making too much of a one time event

RCI does not have mermaid pods on their ships, I don't believe. Their pods have been very reliable.

I think the NCL ship (Dawn?) is going into drydock soon. I don't think that four years from now we'll be reading about Dawn's pod problems, at least I hope not, for their sake.

  4. Can't say I'm too thrilled about this news.:(

I know it's not cold water lobster. However, I still think of "lobster night" as part of the cruise experience....I also think of amenities in the bathroom as part of my vacation....this will be the first time I have to bring my own soap.

I wonder if Costa is looking to de-categorize itself out of "mainstream" into the "budget" category.

  5. This used to happen to me on my first two cruises. I read these tips on another message board --

I don't drink the ship's water -- bottled water only.

Lots of fruit for breakfast, especially cantelope.

If I go on an excursion that entails alot of walking, I wear sneakers, with socks, and tie the sneaks as tightly as is comfortable.

If I notice swelling starting, I take an over the counter diuretic. However, on my last couple of cruises, I didn't need to take it.....

We live in Florida, so flying is not the culplrit.

The above tips seem to work for me..;)
