  1. That is entirely possible. Midship cabins are a preferred location and therefore are often a higher class of room. As your TA said, when you book a guarantee you get what they give you. Not particularly fair to the people who pay extra to choose their room for them to let guarantees pick their room.

When I booked my Aqua class cabin the only availability was a guarantee cabin. You could not choose a cabin. When cabins became available at the same cost as I had paid, I asked for and was allocated a cabin.

  2. If I interpret what you say correctly, you had a GTY, it was not assigned yet, you saw one available and requested it, and thus Celebrity filled your GTY booking with an assigned cabin.

In other words, Celebrity did not notice that a cabin was available to fill the GTY and you had to tell them.

    That is correct.

  3. Halifax and the Post Office have a CC that does not charge for purchases abroad. We use our PO card when settling our account onboard and they convert the charges to Pounds Sterling. Make sure you tick the correct box on the form

With regard to the twenty five dollar shipboard credit units you can purchase from Celebrity. We got a very favourable rate, because Celebrity did not change the cost immediately when the pound tumbled against the dollar. The $25 units cost us £17:30 each. £17.30 only gets you around $21.60 now. They have put the price up to £20:50 per $25 unit now. So, I think I got s bargain!!

  4. Be aware that if you book a cruise in Dollars or Euros that you will be subject to the fluctuations of the currency conversion rate prevalent at the time of payment. With our pending exit from the EU causing instability in the value of the pound, you may not get the bargain you expected. I am booked on the November 18 cruise on Silhouette and received no perks. I have some American friends who received OBC through their travel agent. It's a gamble booking in a foreign currency. If the pound was strong and the price was right, you could pay in full I suppose. I note that in a post somewhere, someone has booked a cruise through Celebrity's Spanish site and it was a lot cheaper for them, but again you would be gambling on the end cost unless you pay in full now.

  5.

My issue is you have to mail your passport in and in my case (six months before my cruise and I had 3 months left on it at sailing date, well, they don't give you those months back by adding them to the new passport's expiration date.

That's interesting. In the U.K. you get the time added on to your new passport. My current passport is for a period of ten and a half years.

  6. If I am not mistaken the automobile was first created in the U.S. So I don't know if there is a correct side, but ours is certainly the original side;)

I think the history of the automobile predates Ford.

  7. Hi UniPac:

Just came across this post from you. Were you able to scan the Cruise Planners and if so where would I find them? We are going on the Sydney-Hawaii beginning April 20, 2017. Thank you for you your trouble.

    Mark

    Dear Mark,

Have you joined the roll call and signed up for the meet and greet?

  8. Thank you so much everyone, its all clear in my head now :) I really appreciate that only one person made fun of me for loving my cat and that everyone else was super helpful xox

I am owned by five cats and I love them more than I can say. Ignore the rude posters they are in the minority. Enjoy your cruise.

  9. We also enjoy the fresh orange juice in the morning (package includes), water anytime (and to take on beach excursions), special coffees, and not having to sign for every drink is a plus. Not concerned with the price of the pkg; I think the price of the pkg is inflated anyway. Would be good to do a study on 'no pkg' vs 'bev pkg' costs, perhaps someone already has done so. Not me, on my holiday! ;)

We have done a comparison between no pkg and pkg. It came out to roughly the same cost. 2012 and 2013 cruises in the Med for 12 nights. On the 2013 cruise we were asked one time only if we wanted to buy the package. We declined politely and were not asked again. We had bought onboard credit as the exchange rate for the $25 units against the £ was much better than we could get elsewhere. We used that to pay for our drinks.

  10. Hello,

we do the same tour in April 04/20/17. May its a silly question but we are not sure how the weather will be on the seadays ? We have 3 seadays between new zealand and Papeete and 5 days between bora bora and maui.

I would like to know if ist warm or cold and windy ? i have no clue.

    many thanks

I can't answer your question, but You may get a response on the roll call thread if anyone else has done this cruise previously or been to any of the islands.

  11. We arranged with others a three day tour through SPB tours. There were only twelve of us on a mini bus. It was amazing and much better than being with a coach full of other travellers. Travellers who used other tour companies were equally satisfied. Our three days was cheaper than going through Celebrity. Check out TripAdvisor. You may wish to review your tour arrangements. State approved tour companies arrange a group visa. A with Celebrity you cannot go off and do your own thing.

  12. We were on a fourteen nights cruise on the Eclipse last July. The only comment I can make is that we needed three days in St Petersburg just to do the sights. An amazing city. I can't remember whether it was the Reflection or the Silhouette with a shorter itinerary and only two days in St Petersburg. Due to weather they only got a single day, which for me personally would it have been sufficient.

  14. I've put the app on my iPhone and as you said it defaults to the .com website and does have a courtesy hold function. However each cabin grade only gives me a choice of 5 cabins and I can't find anywhere where it shows all the cabins available or somewhere for me to input the cabin I want to hold. Probably just me but thanks for the help anyway.

Sorry, you are right. It only shows a limited number of cabins in each category. I have only used it when I have already booked and I was hoping for a cancellation on a cabin I wanted.

  15. Is it no longer possible for people from the UK to use the .com website to place a 24 hour hold on a cabin. Every time I try to search for a cruise on the .com website, I get bounced back to the co.uk website where this is not possible.

I have placed a courtesy hold on a cabin through my phone App. It defaults as if I am American and the cost is in dollars. I then contact Celebrity to confirm my booking. I have used it primarily when I wanted to change cabins to a more preferable one.

  16. Hi. I wanted to upgrade from my included Classic package to Premium as well and would rather do it before I board. I can't find an option to do it on my reservation, do I have to phone them? Thank you. :)

I did this for my cruise in July 16. I rang them and upgraded from the classic to the premium package.

  17. I can't answer your question exactly, but we have never received a discount for being over 55. I have done dummy bookings with and without entering the fact that we are over 55, and the price was the same regardless. This was through Celebrity. I am in the U.K. too.

  18. We have cruised during August in 2013. Except it we were on an East Med and Greek islands cruise. It was very hot, but we had a good sea breeze throughout the cruise, which cooled it down. The hottest place was Rhodes Town and I think that was due to the closeness of some of the buildings. We like to walk a lot and enjoy the sights.

One thing that can be guaranteed about the Med, is that the weather cannot be guaranteed. I have been to Spain in August and Majorca and both times we had quite a few days of rain or it was overcast.
