  1. We are doing a TA in November starting in Southampton. Our first stop is in Boston. Will we go through Customs there? I imagine we have to "re-enter" the country somewhere.

Have you joined the roll call for this cruise?

I was on the transpacific cruise last April and our port of entry was Lahaina, Maui. US immigration officials came onboard. The day before we had to surrender our passports to Celebrity, collect them later (I think it was the next morning). We had a letter in our cabin assigning a time and instructions. There was one queue for American passport holders and another for the rest of the world. There were people who did not get off the ship until mid afternoon.

Our American friends were cleared five minutes before us, so nationality didn’t seem to make that much difference. That was our experience, others may differ.

  2. Perhaps you can help me further...I will be sailing on the 16 night Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing Cruise SILOUETTE November 3rd 2018 and need to know which terminal the ship will sail from. I have been researching but couldn't find any info regarding this.

Have you joined the roll call for the cruise? Quite a few people on it now.

  3. Good Morning Everyone!

My husband and myself decided long ago that we could either go once a year in a balcony or maybe twice in an OV or Inside. We know that a lot of people have a lot more money than we do, we understand that. I feel blessed to be able go at all.

    Have a great day

  4. That’s awful! I will concur there can be an atmosphere in there. There are lots of nice people, but there are a few with an attitude and loud voices to go with it which makes them stand out. I was meeting in there last cruise with the future cruise sales person and my friend who was booking a cruise. We couldn’t hear ourselves think because of the loud voice of a guy talking to another crew member. He was over the other side of the room, but we heard every word he said. No volume control. Some people do not have a clue!

That happens in many situations. Not just Michaels Club. My husband and I once commented that we couldn’t go out for dinner, without having to listen to another guest letting everyone know how wide travelled they were. We try to switch off, but it can be difficult at times!

  5. It can be seriously expensive to phone Celebrity UK - even the Booking line costs 7 pence a minute!! I think there is a number that is not a premium line for Captains Club but they keep it hidden well away.

The number in the pic have been posted on another social media site. IMG_4799.jpg.21e312770d463d6876264256d66c7bbe.jpg

  6. The FB route worked for me when I had to cancel a cruise a few years ago. I knew I would loose my deposit ( I live in UK) but I was not expecting to pay for our air. They maintained I was told at booking, as it was via a low cost carrier. I said I wasn’t told and had nothing in writing and it wasn’t in the T&C in the brochure.

They said they would listen to the recording made at the time of booking. I objected, as I couldn’t listen to it.

I wrote all the above on FB and suddenly I was told we wouldn’t be charged for air!

Under the DPA you can make a subject access request and obtain copies of your recordings. There is a forty day deadline.

  7. We stayed at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort Hotel. Located in Waikiki, this beachfront hotel is in the city centre and within 1 mi (2 km) of U.S. Army Museum of Hawai'i and Honolulu Zoo. Waikiki Aquarium and Ala Moana Center are also within 2 miles (3 km). No complaints whatsoever. There is a stop close to the hotel for the Waikiki Trolley. https://waikikitrolley.com/index.php/waikiki-trolley-map-guide/

If you want to go to Pearl Harbour check out recreation.gov.us. Buy your tickets ahead of time. https://www.recreation.gov/unifSearchResults.do.

  8. Doing the Solstice in April Sydney to Honolulu and hope it is good. Great replies here. Last time I did this transit I was several hundred feet under water so this time I will be able to see the sun!

I was on the same cruise last year. There was one day where the waves were as high as Luminae. I imagine most people would not consider that to be a problem. It was the only day I suffered with sea sickness. Other than that one day, the seas were calm and it was the most amazing experience. Moorea was my favourite.

  9. Is there a facility on Celebrity's website to add box to your own account. I could do this easily with Princess but I can't see that option with Celebrity. Thanks

You can buy OBC in $25 US units. You purchase in pounds sterling. It used to be a great exchange rate. Not so much now. The code is C171 and you can purchase through the gift part of the site. Good luck trying to get the link to function.

I was told if you purchase from the site they complete the transactions in sail date order. You may wish to call Celebrity and order that way, but you do need to check that you are getting the better part of the deal and not Celebrity.

We have done this on two occasions when the exchange rate benefited us. The last time was in 2016 for a 2017 Cruise. Please be aware that the OBC purchased through Celebrity is refundable and you can cash it and take the dollars. We had an issue with guest relations. They wanted to credit our credit card. That would have meant us losing some of our dollars as the conversion rate was not so favourable. It was sorted by the Michaels Club concierge. We know we are going to use the dollars at some point, in fact later this year, so we don’t mind having the money.

  10. Always let your credit card company complete the conversion. That is the cheapest option.

You should check out if you can obtain a CC that does not charge conversion fees in your home country. In the UK there are several. Halifax Clarity and Post Office to name two. .

  11. We are sailing in this cabin later this year. The window washing equipment affects the S1 corner aft suites on deck ten. The deck below.

You may wish to join the roll call for your cruise.

  12. Not sure how valid this is, but I've heard the cruise lines won't show all the available cabins on their sites. They show 8 to 10 on each floor and after you select one, the next person sees one more that was hidden from the booking engine. The rationale I've heard is that only showing a few cabins on each deck leads you to believe cabins are scarce, and you will buy faster.

    .

The Celebrity U.K. site details all available cabins I believe. Certainly on the November TA I can see 40 A2s and 29 A1s. Lots of availability throughout each category.

  13. I have also purchased x2, but I preferred to look on the site to decide whether the exchange rate was favourable.

I have just been into ‘Mange by Booking’ again, but there are no links to ‘Gifts by Celebrity’ which was where I used to find Gift Cards, so it seems ringing Celebrity may be the only option.

I can remember someone posting on here how great the exchange rate was for Brits. I checked the site. Bought 180 units. One week later after what imagine was a run on the credits, they changed the cost in pounds per unit. There was hardly any difference in the exchange rate.

In addition, be aware that you can have any unused purchased shipboard credit refunded in cash, but it will be in American dollars. On my last cruise they tried to insist on crediting my CC. I refused as it would have meant that I would have not received the full value. I had to ask the MC concierge to sort it.

  14. Yes, they do. You buy $25 American dollar units, but you pay in your own currency. You would need to work out your exchange rate. The reference number used to be C171. Unless it’s changed, you are better off ringing them to buy the units, because orders through the site are dealt with in sail date order.

I have done this on two occasions when the exchange rate was better than I could get anywhere else. Celebrity finally got round to changing the cost in pounds per unit and it became less favourable.

  15. Call me when you have real issues to complain about. Actually don't. I would throw myself overboard if I had to listen to petty complaints all the time.

Oh and congrats on getting a worker from a third world country fired for calling your room when you weren't sleeping. Awesome!
