  1. I rang Celebrity UK to book my cruise. The advisor I booked the cruise with sent all the confirmation docs by e-mail. She told me on the call that if I had an issues or requests that I could mail her directly. That is what I did. No cancellation and no rebooking. No problems.

  2. We have cruised several times in the past, but this is the first time we have booked a guaranteed veranda cabin rather than selecting an actual cabin. I understand that the cabin will be assigned soon after final payment, but then what happens? I know that people upgrade and change cabins regularly - is there any way to track what cabins become available as the cruise-date approaches to see if a more favorable cabin (than what has been assigned) becomes available in the same category? We booked directly through Celebrity for a Med cruise in June of 2017. Any info is appreciated.

We booked a guarantee cabin through Celebrity UK for our 2016 Baltic cruise. You couldn't book anything else at that point. I kept checking Celebrity's UK site and after a couple of weeks cabins started appearing. I saw a cabin that I liked the location of. I got in touch with them and asked if I could have the cabin assigned to me and they did it.

  3. I figured out how to get to the UK site. So, =X= is offering a special promotion to the UK for the next 28 hours (or so) and that's why things look wonky here in the U.S.?

I am not 100% certain, but I do not think we get the same promotions in the UK as in the USA.

I thought you wanted to check out cabins available. Are you able to put a hold on the cabin of your choice and then contact Celebrity?

  4. I'm looking on the =X= web site at the Italy and Greek isles itineraries, but no matter what class of cabin I select, it tells me, "Unfortunately we ran out of [insert class name] staterooms for this sailing. Let's try again by choosing another class or call our Certified Vacation Planners..."

    What is going on?

I also see "special offer" splashed above every cabin type, but nowhere does it mention what the offer is. I see people saying they got perks by calling, is that the only way to get them?

I also agree that the prices seem artificially high - is this normal? I've never thought about booking a cruise this far out, (usually 4-6 months ahead) so maybe it's normal to pay a premium to get first choice of cabins?

If you go on the UK site you may see more cabins available. If you can't,which cruise are you looking at? I could check it out for you.

  5. Thanks for all the quick reply's. I was thinking it was their web site but just wanted to be sure. Whenever I need an answer i get it fast from all of you.

Here is a screenshot of the cabin pricing on the UK site. 74fb1513657fa4133b0a205599c3be5a.jpg. Plenty of cabins available. Check out the UK site for availability.

  6. I have just checked out some European cruises for 2018. I cannot believe the cost. We have been prevented from booking that far ahead previously due to our jobs, but retirement beckons. From past posts on here, one of the best times to book was when the cruise first went on sale. Looking at the current prices we will not be booking a cruise now, but will monitor prices and wait and see what happens.

  7. We were in 1627, which was very quiet, but is towards the rear of the ship. You need to look at what is above and below you. There is a sticky about the S class cabins that you can search for reports on individual cabins.

  8. We booked this trip while on board. We received some OBC but were told it was not eligible for a beverage package and right now AQ is sold out and Concierge is double the price since we booked when it first came out.

AQ was £4000 more than we paid last week when a guarantee cabin became available for a few hours.

We upgraded to an S1 and when one became available at the weekend it was £3500 more than we paid.

This cruise does not have the low prices that are sometimes on a TA and therefore cost cannot justify why there isn't a beverage package included. However, I appreciate that the number of sea days would figure in Celebrity's cost versus profit calculation.

  9. Thank you for your responses. Here's hoping for some type of discount, or even the ability to buy the package halfway through the cruise would be nice.

We are on this cruise and in the same position. We have bought Shipboard credit, because we got a better rate of dollars per pound than we could get elsewhere.

We had a free Classic drink package in July on our Baltic cruise, which we upgraded to a Premium drinks package for £128. To buy the Premium drinks package for this cruise would cost us over £2000. A considerable amount.

We will wait to see if there are any offers.

  10. Since one has a choice of booking either a refundable or norefundable air fare it is hard to imagine that this would apply to airlines.

I cannot believe the travel industry in the U.K. gets away with not refunding deposits. Although I am not impacted because I live in the US I hope they change it. I have always suspected it was more the Travel Agent industry than the cruise company. Does the TA get any of the deposit when a cruise is cancellles and it is not refunded?

I have booked directly through Celebrity and cancellation at any point means the loss of the deposit.

  11. My daughters school always had a two week half term in October in Lincolnshire. The point I am making, is that there is an assumption that the OP has taken her children out of school. May be she has, may be she hasn't.

In addition, the Government's stance on children being removed from school during term time has taken a knock through the courts lately.

I NEVER took my children out of school during term time and now holiday outside of the school holidays, because as my children are grown up I like to relax and excited children do not help with my relaxation. However, I stand by my point that the OP has paid for a holiday and is as entitled as you or I to enjoy all the facilities on board with the proviso that she and her family are not running riot. From her posts it appears that she is keeping her children entertained. Drunken behaviour from 'adults' is more of a problem to me.

  12. For those who are assuming that the OP has taken her children out of school during term time. Children in the U.K. are on half term break from school and in some authorities that is for two weeks in October.

She has made it clear that she was not consuming alcohol when she was in the Martini bar, during what appears to be the times it is closed. Why should she be limited to her cabin because her children wish to play quietly with Lego?

I am not a fan of badly behaved children, but for those who can behave,

they and their parents have as much right as any other passenger to enjoy the facilities they have paid for.

  13. I'm on the Eclipse now sailing home and we have managed to dodge the music, nothing too loud anywhere.

Only annoyance was a band in the Ensemble Lounge last night that were good but way too loud.

All the 'background' music is at a really low level, didn't notice it last cruise either.

We were on the Eclipse in July and the volume of the band in the Ensemble lounge was way too high. It made it difficult to hold a conversation.

  14. In addition to the info already provided the ship is cashless so charges are applied to your account and debited to your registered credit card on the last night or you pay with another CC at checkout:)

Admittedly it is three years ago, but we paid out onboard bill in cash on the final evening.

  15. I was on this cruise this year and I saw very few children onboard. I didn't bother monitoring the price post final payment date, so I cannot comment on price fluctuations.
