On our trip before covid on Nautica, the dover sole was available on the Toscana menu. Is that still the case? If so, Polo and Toscana share the kitchen not being near the MDR. Was the person taking the order looking for a tip (I believe it could happen) or trying not to offer something from the Toscana menu for whatever reason? Anyway, thank you Aloha 1 for a good comparison of two popular cruise lines.

For some of us, early riser is well before 6 or 6:30 which is when (I cannot remember which) baristas is open. I am grateful that usually there is at least a coffee machine or coffee at Horizons (love the quiet early on there) or Terrace before Baristas opens. And yes then I am there for my double espresso and sometimes more pastries asap.

DH and I and brother and sister-in-law did Privee on the Baltic cruise on our anniversary a few years ago. I used our shipboard credit to book it and I enjoyed even though it would be even more fun with a group. We took our bottles of champagne (both concierge that cruise and fun though champagne was nothing special) and enjoyed the dinner though it was just food from the 2 specialties. The head server remembered us for the rest of the cruise and gave us very good service in the MDR a few times. I loved it and would do it again even at $50 more. But a butler served dinner for 2 sounds good too. On our fall cruise we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary and are doing a La Reserve menu with the in-laws again. All your choices are good-celebrate more than one night with different choices. I am also checking out souffles on this cruise-all sound good!

jonthomas I hope you are right and there have not been any or many issues so far. We booked a 7 day med cruise late Sept fm Rome to Barcelona for some ports we have not been to and would not be doable in one land trip. We booked this over a year ago and put in a few days in Rome and a few days in Barcelona environs to visit some other places we have not been so not going to worry about Flight cancellations yet (hoping no new variants of Covid cause problems). We also have been to Barcelona many times so are going to Tarragona and other places outside at disembarkation. Have you done those too?

When we were on the Midnight Sun cruise a few years ago, the Viking Sea did not tender in Edinburgh proper but out a ways.

Is it certain that there will be embarkation and debarking from Tarragonia in the fall of 2022?

+1 on machine espresso from Horizons or Terrace until Baristas opens. But Horizons is quiet and has a better view in the early hours.
