  1. On a past cruise I befriended a homesick Spa "girl" and learned that the spa employees are generally NOT employed by the cruise company. Rather, nearly all work for the same company that is completely separate from the cruise line.

The same for the gym workers, they work for the company that manages the spa

They share their %15 tip with other spa / gym workers, but anything given to them about that is their own. I know this because I have worked out with a trainer on my 5 cruises.

So keep that in mind when you sign up for a free "Rumba " or other class, they make nothing, you may want to tip them a bit

  2. It's actually a really natural way of talking to each other, precisely because you're facing each other. You can hold hands, share food, and look into the other person's eyes, almost exactly as if you were sitting on opposite sides of a table in a restaurant. Being displaced from each other laterally by a foot or so really makes little difference.

Anyone who feels sick during the cruise because they're flying backwards is suffering purely psychological symptoms. Once you're in the cruise, there is no way that you could know from what you feel that you are facing / travelling backwards rather than forwards.

    Thanks for your answer.

Now I hope those seat will be available when I fly. BA wants $113.00 per seat per leg for a Buss. class flight, that's nuts, on top of the ticket price.

  3. On all but 1 cruise I have brought my own cord and have never had a problem. The 1 time I asked to use the ships cord, I had to return it & get another. The one they gave me was frayed so badly, could not understand how they kept it around.

For my future cruises ( as well as long flights ) I am getting fitted for a ( disposable bandaid type ) cpap . Ask your doctor.

  4. In Buss. the forward & rear facing seats by the window, are they a good choice for talikng with the other half ? How about getting up & out to the bathroom for the person close to the window ? And, Is it a weird feeling facing backwards ? ( did it many moons ago & forgot. My signed seat was at the pong table in the club room of a flight from SF to LA on PSA )

  5. Al & Chuck do not take the whole ship, so if you want to be a part of their parties, it is your choice to join them or not.

Aqua Fest offered this cruise a while back while A & C just jumped on the bandwagon.

I have heard lots of good things about Aqua Fest & not so nice thince things about A & C, comments coming from people who have traveled with both of them in the past.

For us, it doesn't mean anything that there is a large gay group on board, just a cruise we wanted to do & doing it with others that we enjoy

  6. Seven day cruise out of Montego Bay aboard the Celestyal Crystal should see more than just we Canadians aboard this coming season.

Hi, there are 2 male & 2 female couples from Sarasota doing the 1/1/16 Cuba cruise with Aqua Fest on this ship, looks like the ship may be close to 1/2 gay.

Another gay group is promoting the next 3 cruises on Celestyal

  7. We are booked for this cruise on a 1/1/16 departure. We have already signed with the non- profit company. This is all legal for US citizens, starting in December.

As for health issues, passengers must pay for Cuba medical insurance ( I think that is what we did, just know we did as required ). Cuba has an excelent reputation on medical care.

We have not received any info on excursions, but do know that we have little choice or free time, but totaly understandable.

  8. Sorry not to make it clear. The book is Cod (cod, all small letters) by Mark Kurlansky. History of cod and the importance of it to Iceland's economy, historically. When you see the replica fishing village it will be even more meaningful having read the book. Tour books (DK travel) and others can give some history too, all helpful to understand the geology and history. hope this clears things up.

    Thanks, I'll look for it

  9. Due to a surgery, I need to use a knee scooter. Sailing on the Paraidse next week & was wondering if I would have any problems getting around the ship. Does Carnival provide assistance at the buffet ?

We will have 2 tendered ports ( private island & Cayman Island ) & 1 docked, Cozumel. How would I get off the ship at both kind of ports ?

    thank you

  10. Hi chennai,

I debating between IPC & Windstar, they both have pros & cons.

My question to you, is did you feel cramped in other than the dinning room ? We both are 6'4 & from oictures I have seen on IPC's Facebook page, there seems to be low ceilings in different public areas, is this true ?

  11. I always take an extenison cord, in case they run out. Don't bother special services, ask your cabin steward for it as well as distilled water.

As for the battery cpap machine that needs funding for production, try this, it has been available for 3 years. Just found out from my doc. Need a new sleep lab, while wearing the Pro Vent, ( which insurance will pay for ), and you can get a scrip for a 30 days supply ( 1 day usage ) insurance does not pay for this ( about $60.00 a month )

I plan on doing this, makes life a bit easier on long trips and international flights.

  12. HI there:) I am researching a 10 days circumnavigating Iceland cruise with Iceland Pro Cruises.

I have never heard of them - are they any good?

They have chartered the Ocean Diamond.

Hi, I am looking at them for 2016 also. Windstar is offering close to the same trip this year and next also. Waiting to hear reviews on both before deciding.
