Just don't tell our international visitors about the bugs, mossies, flies and spiders.:p
Another reason I don't like you, Mic :), the flies are horrible at the Cape, saying that, the rental of the Avis car, the drive to Cape Le Grande was well worth it, it's a must do. After we picked up the car, (easy walk from the tender port ), we went into town & stoped at a cafe for a take away lunch. Great food & people, even let us use your cooler bag.

Luv your sense of humor !

Don't judge a cruise as to if there are many LGBT on board based on chatter on threads here at CC. We have been on cruises were there was no thread here & had a huge FOD meeting.

We have sailed X before and enjoyed it. ( see my listing below for past and future cruises ) other than a 3 night cruise out of Maimi, no experance with Royal, will get the full treatment in a few months with the btb's btb on both lines. Like ships, so it should be a seamless cruise.

We were able to buy things at the market using AUD, and we paid our driver in AUD. However, I was astounded when someone in our group came out of a fast food shop (Hungry Jacks or similar) totally disgusted that they could not buy a drink with AUD. :D After waiting for them for about 20 minutes to get to the top of the queue, and then not be able to buy this absoutely-essential drink, I asked them if they thought someone could buy a drink at a Hungry Jacks in Australia using Indonesian Rupiah. :D
I'm glad that ignorant Americans are not the only ones who thinks the world revolves around their homeland.

Dows anyone know if a ship will let you use your own computer as a hotspot so your spouse and you can share 1 internet connection ?
From what I have read, you can, but you will pay for in double minutes.

I take post it notes, easy way to leave message for other half.

We did a TA & western Med cruise on the Solstice last year & to be honest, could have fooled me that we were on water & I have a balance problem.

We did a btb on X this time last year. Ended & started in Barcelona. ALL of the btb ers had to meet in the movie room for Spanish customs and then we could go on our own. It was around 10:30 before we could do anything on our own. Even those who got the new sea pass the night before had to do the group custom thing.

4774 Papa, thanks for all that info, you said a mouthful. Should keep us busy for the first 2 days. :)

As for the bridge climb, I am sure it is a great experience, but for $240 pp, we declined and did the pile climb. It appears to be about 3/4 of the height from the water, but you can take your camera and it only costs $11.
What is the pile Climb ? & how did you find info on that ?
We are staying 8 days in Sydney post cruise & want to make the most of it.
thanks

Emailed Mary yesterday, she responded in less than 12 hours with the info I wanted.

On occasion when we have a verandah, we use the verandah light and leave it on all night, with drapes closed to some extent of course.
So, you are the one that does that ?
Before your next cruise, you may want to reconsider this. You are affecting your neighbors with that light shinning all night for you. Not a good idea at all.

I was at the Dollar Tree store the other day & picked up some vacuum packing bags, haven't played with it to see how much it hold. Also, they had a travel case of nail file, clipper& 2 / 3 more things for 1 buck. Not the best, but it could be a leave behind item.
-
The drawers at the Dollar Tree seem to sell out fast, you may need to check often. They are in the closet area. If you are really lucky, you may be able to score a package that has 2 instead of 1, happened to me 3 times.

Partner & I did a Trans Atlantic on the Sun last year with another gay male couple. Lots of gays on that cruise, not as many as the btw, which was a rt Baltic. We have never had any kind of problem, staff or passengers on any cruise line. Well, there was that i women, but even straights avoided her.
Go, enjoy, you'll have a wonderful time.

1. less announcements....more relaxed atmosphere on Celebrity
2. Formal nights..you will see more formal attire, you will not see undershirts (with an imprint) and baseball caps.
3.Celebrity requests you maintain formal attire for the evening, not jsut the meal.
#1- just the morning announcement
#2- we never do formal, but on X they do like to dress, even though, must say, more suits for men than tuxes. It all depends on the location of the cruise.
#3-they may say they maintain formal for the evening, but like i said, we never dress ( 2 men ). Wait, never dress formal. We have been all over the ship on formal nights, wearing tees & shorts on the 4 cruises with X, and never was made to feel uncomfortable by staff.

This April, we booked for fall 2013, Ensenda to Hawaii on Celebrity's Solstice & con't on to Sydney. The plan, for now, is to see family & friends in India & Africa & return to Florida via a westbound TA early Dec. that's the plan, the pocketbook may say something different.

Usually, a phone call to housekeeping would resolve the issue by giving me an extension cord. However, on my last Celebrity cruise, the staff refused to give me an extension cord due to a perceived safety issue. I had to please my case right through to the officers to have one delivered. Even the customer service desk was of no help.
I always travel with extension cords of 2 different lengths. Better safe than sorry.

16 years ago, on our 1st European trip with my Cpap, my partner plugged it in without the adapter & blew the fuse.Stan then had a McQuiver moment, (a little late) removed the fuse, stripped a baggie twist tie of it's paper & wrapped the wire around the fuse. That saved the trip, as well as his life ( I was going to kill him).
Does anyone have a battery power CPAP ? Would love to know if it can be used on a long haul flight. I don't care what I look like with the mask on, to finally have a restful flight would be worth it.

Good find! I like that pricing a lot better. I've looked in dollar stores as well, but have never seen them.
I found the collapsable bins at Dollar Tree, in the laundry area. I think they come in about 6 different sizes.
-
In regards to the collapsible bins, I found them at the Dollar stores, & if you are lucky like I was, I came across a few packages that had 2 per pac for a buck.

Hello Dubrovniklady, I hope that the weather in your area turns for the better very soon. With all this snow, are there fears of floods when the thawing starts? Good luck to you all.

Okay I have been on what 15, 16 cruises and now I find myself having to buy travel clothesline, magnetic hooks and maybe a night light for the cabin. What else? There is something wrong with this picture that I need to buy these things just to take a cruise on an S Class Ship. Just sayin........

I agree, why do they scrimp on the little things that do make a difference.
Venice - Best side of ship for sail in/out?
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
We did the sail out last year on the Solstice, beautiful. I was told that the ships can no longer play music over the loudspeakers on sail away, is this true ? Also, was a decision ever made on ships not using the grand Canal anymore ?
