  1. We have a group of 10 that will be sailing from Port Everglades in March. We're looking for cheap lodging, either all together or 3 families separately. We will have a vehicle so even farther north would be fine. We usually stay at the Renaissance or Embassy but want to keep it cheap this time. Any ideas?

    Thank you!!

  2. Onboard now also. I had requested mattress toppers ahead of time but they weren't On beds. We have a room steward that just started on the Freedom this week. We are in the Royal Family Suite. I don't like to keep asking for things but we're struggling with him. I asked him for a topper & he put on a "pad". Helps a little but not much. He has no idea how to do much On this ship. Asked for a blanket first & second day. Still dont have one. He doesn't bring ice until we ask. We asked him to empty the fridges and still hasn't done that. He gave us one small squeeze tube of "good" shampoo that we used up the second day. He hasn't given us any more. And....we keep getting the neighbors mail.

I don't like to keep asking for things that I think should be part of "regular" stateroom duties, let alone a suite. Granted, he is new to this ship. But I'd think he could find out how to do things.

    Still enjoying the ship!!!!!!

Also wonder what Alpha Alpha Alpha was!!!

  3. Just wanted to pass on some info, in case it will help anyone. For those who have mobility aids installed in their car, the port at Ft Lauderdale now offers free parking. This does NOT apply to placards, just disability equipment like hand controls. We are excited to take advantage of this in March!!!!

  4. I agree with Kmorg. IF, and it's a small IF.....you can get a private car to be waiting at the port for you, and rush straight to the airport, there's a slight chance you could make it. Of course, you'll still have to get through check in & security lines. IF you do try it, and Royal offers luggage valet for your airline, that would help a lot!!!

  5. We booked a long time ago & are sailing with 2 children in September then 3 in March. However, we are in the Royal Family Suite, which is sold out. I've heard they can still price the cabins at current rates.....but I'm guessing the base rate has gone up a lot & this sale won't benefit us. Is it worth having the TA check?

  6. It is the principle. Plus....I had mentioned the cruise to a few friends and told them they needed $250 deposit whether they booked a single cabin or $250 each on a double.

I'm wondering if this TA reads Cruisecritic. Right after posting this, I got the following email...

"I will go ahead and honor the onboard credit for you even though the deposit requirement isn't met to receive the group onboard credit. Invoices will be sent shortly."

And they were.....!!! So....why argue with me & get me worked up....and then do it anyway???!!!! Aaarrrggghhhh!!!

  7. We booked 3 cabins through Royal Caribbean. Two were single occupancy & one was double. We received several offers of Onboard credit from travel agents & decided which was best to go with. I completed the transfers online & got confirmation within an hour that the booking had been transferred. I emailed the travel agent & told him. Now he says he needs another $250 toward the deposit for each of the single cabins. If we don't pay it, our onboard credit goes down to $50 per cabin. We have cruised 25+ times but have never heard of this. We have booked with this agency one other time, but not this guy. It's not just about the money....it makes me wonder if I can trust him. He never told me about the additional deposit prior to the transfer, but said we had talked about it. I reread every single email with no mention of it.....and he had copies of our bookings. Couple of questions---

Is this the normal way things are handled?

If not, can I get the booking back somehow....or do I just pay the deposit & hope it turns out ok.

    Frustrated!!!!!!!

  8. I would choose the are Renaissance also. We stayed at the Embassy in January for 4 nights & was disappointed. We are not picky but room cleaning was mediocre. The nightly cocktail event was so overrun with kids in dripping bathing suits, it was actually kinda dangerous on those slick floors. No free events at Renaissance but....pool is great & rooms at every nice.
