  1. We have scheduled a tour in September with Paul McNeil of Halifax Titanic Historical Tours - Halifax Tours, Halifax Top Tour (halifaxtitanictours.ca). He has excellent reviews here on Cruise Critic and on Trip Advisor.
  2. We have booked the Boston Old Town Trolley through the ship and the excursion is fully booked. I have read horror stories of others having to wait up to two hours to board hop-on-hop-offs at the ship in some ports. Has anyone booked this in Boston and can share their experience regarding waiting times to board and any other advice regarding the hop-on-hop-off stops? Thanks in advance!
  3. 😆Thank you! I have one planned and will be sailing on August 31st. One of my issues this week is health related and am hoping I will be able to make it.
  4. My apologies. Not an acceptable reason, but I was in a bad place and let it impact something that was totally unrelated. I am sorry for my response.
  5. Tried it. Got this - This survey can only be taken by invitation.
  6. I understand what SHOULD have been there but it wasn't. I am not new to this. I have used this method before and nothing is wrong with my reader. The numbers were not showing anywhere, as I noted, not even on RCI's website.
  7. Just a note about using the bar code to learn your GTY room number. It didn't work for me. No numbers showed on my set sail pass until my room was assigned. They did not show on the app or online and a bar code reader would not read it. Don't know why. Maybe I am just jinxed!🙃 I almost always book GTY because it is so much cheaper. I'd rather spend my money on exploring the destinations. I never knew you could request a change after your room was assigned. Unfortunately, it won't work for me for my next cruise. It is all sold out. I do appreciate all of the posters that share their knowledge here. I have learned so much on Cruise Critic.
  8. Thanks so much for such a fast response! And you educated me. I didn't know the movies would be shown there but so far nothing has been showing. I guess it is too soon. We sail at the end of August.
  9. My husband enjoys "movies under the stars". Does anyone know what movies are currently being offered on Vision under the stars and free ones just offered in the cabin? Thanks!
  10. The tour never showed up on my Viator account and no ticket or email confirmation was received. I contacted the provider who verified my reservation had been received but to resolve the issue she cancelled the reservation with Viator and rebooked it directly with her, the provider. That saved me a few dollars as the price is cheaper when directly booked with her. The issue with Viator must have been just a rare glitch in the system.
  11. Thanks for your response.🙂 I know I can manage the walk as I experienced it last year. We sailed out of Baltimore last November and I took my wheelchair with me at boarding. It was a major pain. Trouble getting through the crowds, finding a place to park it out of other people's way, managing it and my small carry-on. Just looking for an easier way.
  12. I will be taking my foldable wheelchair on a RCI cruise out of Baltimore. I need it for long walks but will be able to manage the walk to board and get around the ship. I would prefer to not have to deal with it in the crowds packing the main areas while we wait to get access to our staterooms. Does anyone know if the wheelchair can be checked and delivered to my stateroom along with my luggage? Thanks!
  13. Thanks for the advice and for educating me on the correct name of Saint John! 😄I understand that there can be confusion regarding St. John's and Saint John. I was confused when I started looking for excursions. When trying to locate sites on the map things just weren't lining up. I couldn't find the addresses I was looking for. I even tried booking something in St. John's and the provider gave me a heads up and advised that I make sure which port we were going to. I was very grateful for that advice!
  14. We will be in St. John for two days. I am taking a tour on our second day there, St. Martins and The Bay of Fundy. I have a rental car reserved on the first day there and would like suggestions as to where to go. I had plans for one trip with it but those changed. Now I am up in the air as to whether to keep or cancellation the car reservation. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  15. I found the answer to the question regarding the location of car rental agencies. There are at least two within 3 to 4 minutes walk from the port.
  16. Oh, yes, I am trying to total everything! Looking at their gas prices makes me slightly more appreciative of ours! 😆
  17. That walk would be very hard for me. If you don't mind saying, what was the cost of the taxi and rental? I'm trying to figure out if my total cost would come out any better than the ship's tour. Adding in those plus gas cost might make it close.
  18. We would like to rent a car in St. John to travel to St. Andrews for a whale watching tour. We will be in St. John overnight so timing should not be an issue. Has anyone done this? Is there a car rental place near the port? Any other concerns that I should consider?
  19. Do you see any of the lighthouses on the mailboat run?
  20. I am embarrassed to say I am not certain. You are correct. I quickly went to check the provider and looked at a tour in an entirely different port! 😳I am losing my mind or have spent too much time looking at too many tours! It may be both! 😄 But thank you for your response. In determining what I had done wrong, I learned that Viator is showing no record of my reservation. This even though I spoke with them on Friday and received an email confirmation following our conversation. Will be following up. I agree with you totally about booking directly with the provider. Why I did not in this circumstance I must attribute to a senior moment. It is just one more instance in what is becoming a comedy of errors. I was booking this to accompany my daughter and her family. Their reservation is confirmed and showing online. If I indeed do not have a reservation for my DH and myself, we will not be able to accompany them as the tour only has one slot left. The positive aspect - I can follow the majority opinion and do it on our own! 😄
  21. I will be there ahead of you - September 5th. The one I booked is 2 1/2 hours long and is supposed to go to 3 lighthouses. Not a bad price and my daughter is very interested in lighthouses, (much more than I am). My minimum interest in the lighthouses is one of the reasons I am debating whether to take a tour or roam on my own. Then I remember my walking ability is limited. 😕Decisions, decisions!
  22. Sorry, I miss-stated. I booked through Viator. The provider is Freedom Tours.
  23. I am having a hard time deciding what to do in Portland. I definitely want to do one of the mailboat/island rides and am trying to decide on taking the "Downtown Portland City and Lighthouse Tour" through Viator. Any advice and recommendations will be appreciated!
