  1. Sweet but also true. Traditionally and for a long time pineapples were a symbol of hospitality that had nothing to do with sex or sexuality. "In architecture, pineapple figures became decorative elements symbolizing hospitality." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pineapple
  2. Pineapples are a traditional symbol of hospitality. For example, many old homes in Charleston, SC have a pineapple incorporated somewhere outside (in the stone, e.g.). Upside down pineapples are a more recent symbol of "swingers" and partner swapping.
  3. Ah good info. I am sure the front desk of our hotel will have a stapler.......
  4. Dumb question, I'm sure the answer is yes. Do they have staplers at the check in desk (Seattle) to attach your print-out luggage tags to the suitcases? I don't want to have those paper tags on there for our airline flight into Seattle. And we won't be traveling with a stapler.
  5. Is there a tutorial or presentation by a crew member on the App, once on board? - What all can it do - Best uses - Neat little tricks - Troubleshooting if my phone screen doesn't look like the one on the overhead Would seem like an excellent use of 15 minutes for newbies (me) or Luddites (sorta me, sorta not) or newbie Luddites (I guess I qualify).
  6. Watched in the 70s and watched again in the last few years on the old reruns. Obviously the most unrealistic part is the personal greeting from the "stars of the ship" (stars of the show) as you board. On an episode I saw recently, Captain Stubing took a liking to a lady as she was boarding, started wooing and romancing her immediately, invited her for private dining, went to her cabin, etc. Made me wonder who was in charge of navigation, personnel, etc.
  7. I have been told multiple times by multiple posters that coffee & tea are free. No?
  8. Based on this, I will bring swim accoutrement, but also bring healthy skepticism that I will pull it out of the suitcase.
  9. What I'm saying is that they don't even know the email I use for private business. MY email that received the spam, is known to -0- people in the office.
  10. No an email unknown to the office. 75% chance pure coincidence, 25% chance some entity picked up on my Princess upgrade bid.
  11. Last week I bid on an upgrade. Today, I received an email titled "You have been approved and billed for your upgrade request_" Excited, I clicked on it. It was not from Princess and did not mention Princess. It was from an address wilsonftannerds@gmail.com. The content was rather generic, stilted English that makes it apparent that it is spam. So the question is, I wonder whether the spam is related to my Princess request? (Someone got wind I requested an upgrade). Or whether it's just a random coincidence.
  12. Sentence is self-contradictory.
  13. I have read and read and read and researched but not found anything as specific as I would like. So for those who have experienced the Discovery Princess recently, two questions - 1) For an Alaskan cruise in late September, are any of the pools heated/protected such that anyone would want to get in? Same question for hot tubs. I'm not talking about the Sanctuary. Wondering whether to pack bathing suit/related stuff or not. 2) Are there pickleball courts? Open play? Daily? Tournaments? Organized groups? Any and all pickleball information appreciated.
  14. Do you need to buy the wifi package for the app to work on the ship? Seems like it would work for all customers regardless.
  15. Seems good for locating books or purses or keys; not so much people.
  16. The changing visual experience looks like the Van Gogh exhibit that traveled the US.
  17. Thank you. That makes it clear that as a first-time Princess cruiser in September, who bought the base package, I am the VERY LAST PERSON ON THE SHIP who would be invited to something like this. lol
  18. This seems key to understanding what might be happening.
  19. To answer my own question, I logged into princess.com, MANAGE MY BOOKING, used the search function and typed in upgrade bid, and it brought up the page where I can do it. No email necessary.
  20. Where do you go on princess.com to make a bid?
  21. Probably related when trying the online version: Your booking is not currently available in the Medallion Class app. Please try again later. Your booking may require payment or additional guest details. Use this web site or contact your Travel Agent to review payment and guest details.
  22. Well it's bass ackwards. I checked 3 different massage choices and all of them are MORE on embarkation day than later in the cruise. For example - 50 minute Deep Tissue Massage - $179 on departure day $143 for 3 select other days of the cruise (2 were port days, 1 was a sea day). Two other choices had the same pattern. I'm lost so I guess I'll just delete the email.
  23. Airport hotel after landing at 9. Transport to the port in the morning (some Seattle service I first noticed on here). No rental car at all. Walking, a couple of miles. Which is probably further than my wife is willing, lol. I noticed on google maps that walking to the Space Needle says 1.9 miles. Thank you, your post is extremely helpful.
