  1. I initially read this as "it suddenly became an awkward breakfast." I suppose that works too.
  2. Princess sure has the "put a hunk of red meat on top of a bed of something" presentation down, it seems.
  3. Not my list, it's cut and paste from princess, and I don't know which ones are bars by name, so I'm good.
  4. I have superseded your stand up/sit down analysis with specific information about each venue. This is what I was really seeking. See above and correct me as necesseary.
  5. Holy ______. I think I have found my answer that I can create and carry a cheat sheet. I found all food venues listed here: https://www.princess.com/news/backgrounders_and_fact_sheets/factsheet/Discovery-Princess-Fact-Sheet.html I put a double asterisk beside any that I can access for free. Please correct me as necessary. 24-hour room service (breakfast **) Bellini's Bar Bistro Sur La Mer Chef's Table Lumiere Churchill's Cigar Lounge Crooners Crown Grill & Bar Gelato Gigi's Pizzeria Good Spirits At Sea International Café – coffee, snacks, light meals ** Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar Princess Live! Café Sabatini's Italian Trattoria Salty Dog Grill (Lido, pool) ** SeaView Bar Slice Pizzeria ** Swirls ice cream bar ** The Mix – Lido Deck bar in between Slice Pizzeria and Salty Dog Grill The Salty Dog Gastropub Three Main Dining Rooms ** Wake View Bar World Fresh Marketplace - including The Pastry Shop **
  6. Thanks for telling me the difference. I have not yet been on a Princess ship.
  7. I don't know that's what I am trying to learn. Can I walk into the Salty Dog Grill, as a basic passenger, and get something?
  8. Are you seated to buy specialty coffees at the International Cafe? I think it's a good rule but there seem to be exceptions. Another rule is "everywhere is pay except MDR, buffet, International Cafe basic, and pizza by the slice." Does that rule work?
  9. Please read through the entire thread before commenting on posts in the middle of the thread. This was addressed and put to bed.
  10. I have been properly chastened by all. I will be a meek customer and will accept whatever ticky tack charges can be tacked on for whatever service that used to be free. I have learned my lesson and flogged myself.
  11. Hm they should have mentioned that then.....which I will mention to them.
  12. I'm definitely going to print this out and take it then. "Our Internet Café is filled with computers so it’s easy to access your mail account or browse the Internet for world news, sports and stock trading. Or bring your own electronic devices and access the Internet through our improved onboard wireless service. The Internet Café is open 24 hours a day." https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/products/activities/internet-cafe.html
  13. I just watched the Discovery Princess tour and I believe I still saw an Internet Cafe? That would still count as "free internet" in response to the question, yes? The question was not "wifi" it was "internet" I believe.
  14. Thank you and I trust your knowledge. Can you purchase individual days in advance? I would like to have wifi on sea days but not port days, and I would like the $15 price. Is this possible?
  15. This does not agree with everything I thought I knew from reading on this topic extensively -- my understanding is it is $15/day whether purchased in advance or on board, and whether you purchase for the whole week or a day at a time. Your post is the first I am hearing about $20 if you purchase a single day. Can you link somewhere on princess.com where it says that? All I see is: "Choose from one-device or four-device packages starting from just $14.99 USD." (I will consider this 15). https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ocean-medallion/medallionnet/
  16. I assumed it was like a hotel and you could just have an extra key card made. But you know what they say about assume.
  17. So if I send my kid, who has a separate room, to my room to retrieve something, I have to hand over to him my medallion?
  18. OK a Discovery question although I suppose it applies to all ships. I watched the Ship Tour video on youtube (12 minutes) and the main thing it showed was this dining venue! That dining venue! This dessert place! That dessert place! Is there a sign or code or symbol or something on each dining venue, to tell you whether it is a "pay" venue or whether it is included in base rate? Without having to memorize them all or check the app? I know that everyone gets access to MDR and International Cafe (but not specialty coffees or desserts??) and the buffet. But they showed a place called Gelato. Can we walk up and get gelato, or is that charge? They showed pizza by the slice. I believe that is included. But they showed another pizza place, too, that I believe is not. My basic question, is there something visual that tells passengers "Pay Venue" or "For Everyone!" at each venue?
  19. Not so subtle if you have your hands full! Does the medallion also lock the door as you walk away, or do you still do that manually?
  20. So they have overbooked balconies and they are offering you a free cruise to move interior? How could you possibly not take it? I would have immediately.
  21. I assume this is not true while on the ship but docked in port, where your phone will find a land-based signal. Correct? The ports: Seattle Juneau Ketchikan Skagway Vancouver
  22. I'm on that ship in a week and a half but please reconcile these two parts of your post. Are they "required" or is there "no enforcement"? No enforcement = not required.
  23. That's if you already know where you want to go. I will usually need the opposite feature -- "what is there to see or do?" by looking at a map.
