  1. They could still announce a lower budget, replacement third show.
  2. Actually, three options... the worst result for the paying passenger..... raise fares AND lower service.
  3. We have the same response. I had to submit mine two times like a month ago. I got the SH credit after the second submission within 1 day. Fast forward... my mom and dad booked separate cabins. Dad has military OBC automatically applied. We submitted both of their SH requests separately on Tuesday. We haven't heard anything from princess and no SH OBC has been posted in either account. I don't know what is going on over at Princess. The process seems very disjointed and inconsistent.
  4. The only study that need be undertaken is bottom line profit. Easy decision, but likely the wrong one as it further devalues their brand.
  5. TAs will happen April/May Eastbound and then again Oct/Nov Westbound. Weather is a crapshoot. If you enjoy typical ship activities you will be fine. No additional entertainment. The menus rotate out just like on a seven day cruise, so you will have a new menu each day. We saw the same basic entrees, a steak entree, lots of mahi mahi, hake, flounder etc. We love transatlantic cruises.
  6. Agreed, which is why we don't need 5 nights of the same. On our recent TA cruise, they were performing in front of an empty 1,000 seat theatre because everyone had heard the jokes. Bad for the passengers, worse for the comedians who thrive on audience.
  7. The August 10th inaugural has also disappeared. In the past, this means your cruise has been cancelled. NCL just has decided not to let you know. They will get around to it when they get around to it, sadly. It is just another day at NCL headquarters in Miami. No big deal to them. They cancel cruises and adjust itineraries on a weekly basis. Anyway, if this is true, I am so sorry this is happening to you. I can only imagine the stress involved with the uncertainty. We should all expect more from NCL.
  8. Yes. If there is a tax to collect, NCL has historically elected to pass that cost along to the consumer. There has been talk that prepurchased drink packages should not be subject to tax. Notwithstanding, NCL has assessed tax on menu price of drinks regardless of point of sale. If you order a drink, free or not, tax has historically been collected by NCL. I have no idea if they actually turn the funds over to the government or just pocket the money collected.
  9. Yet post #22 would lead us to believe customers wanted this. I mean the comedy clubs were so busy they had to move them to the main theater. Of course, this is just spin. We've seen it many times before. They moved comedy to the theater on multiple nights and also kept them in Headliners. So, you get 5 nights of the same comedian, doing the same routine, for our convenience of course. Coming next, move Syd's to the main theater. Wise up!!
  10. It is? Royal routinely finds them for their ice shows and Broadway shows.
  11. In rocky seas, forward cabins will experience more motion than mid ship cabins on lower decks. Wind much more pronounced out front when at sea.
  12. Another example of charging more for less further degrading the value of the cruise experience. When I want night after night of the same stand up comedy routine, I cruise Carnival. Looks like Royal is the last man standing with decent headliner Broadway shows. Stock price reflects it, too.
  13. Based on their repeated behavior, they know exactly what they are doing. I guess they think selling cruises to ports they have no intention of visiting is no problem.
  14. If you consider lowest price to be a sale, then you generally have to book last minute within a couple of months before sailing. See current pricing for 7 day Alaska cruises, $279. April 15 day transatlantic sailings were $499. These are minimum rate interior guaranteed and are rarely if ever advertised. Prices increase from there. NCL wants you to believe their % off emails and flyers are sales, BOGO free this week, 50% off guest 1 and 2 next week. Many educated consumers quickly recognize these are different ways of marketing the same fare.
  15. So sad. In my opinion, the passengers impacted should have been the first to know, even if it is a notification that said more info to follow.
  16. Yes, Norwegian has used it for at least a year in NYC. Carnival has used it in Galveston. Glad to see it is coming to Carnival NYC. We also had a very quick experience with the facial recognition.
  17. That news would definitely increase stock price. 😁😁
  18. Bank of America upgraded CCL on Monday. All cruise stocks reacted favorably.
  19. You can ride the free trolley system from the port and check out the area. Check out this website and plan out the things you might want to do. Trolley Maps - Miami (miamigov.com)
  20. This 100%. The comparisons in the other post didn't make any sense to me either. It omitted the third party and then concluded that the point is moot anyway. Huh?
  21. The Alaska cruises this summer are severely undersold. Lots of voyages being operated with unoccupied cabins. A 20% discount on an interior cabin is currently about $60 per person. How very generous of NCL. On the plus side, this announcement is being made well in advance of the sailing. Sorry to everyone impacted by this latest change.
  22. This 💯%. Over and again we are exposed to canned rhetoric that is grounded solely in emotion instead of factual reality. Thank you for posting the specifics of your situation and I am glad to read NCL came through for you. Well done.
  23. This may certainly be true as it relates to NCL. Fortunately for the consumer, many companies do not operate like NCL. Again, sadly, this may be true of NCLs operations. Fortunately for the consumer again, many companies do not operate like NCL does.
  24. This is it, exactly. When things go well, the onboard experience is actually pretty nice. However, the repeated bad corporate behavior has soured us on NCL. Things happen on other lines, too, but with NCL they seem to happen much more frequently. Maybe it is lounge closures last week as in this thread, or unique, confusing tax issues on drinks last month, or port cancellations/itinerary changes up in Alaska on Spirit this week which passengers are reportedly learning out about through unrelated third parties, not NCL....there always seems to be some hiccup. For these reasons, we will only choose NCL by booking at the very last minute and only when they offer very very cheap last minute cruise rates. We also properly reset our expectations in advance for some degree of unexpected disruption when we sail in NCL. This way we are never too disappointed when the "expected" happens. PS.. We wouldn't hesitate to sail on Carnival. Our caveat is itinerary needs to be 7 days or greater and on a Vista or XL class ship. We would also try the new Italian experience. Hope you consider giving them a try.
  25. Same here. However, unlike you, I would gladly take cash net of tax in lieu of restricted OBC.
