A few years ago (pre-covid, so technically probably more than a few) Target discontinued my favorite ice cream. It was their private label and I couldn't find anything similar enough to takes it's place. It was Triple Chocolate  - chocolate ice cream w/chunks (not chips) of dark chocolate and "ribbons" of white chocolate; it was heaven in a bowl. DH said it was too fancy for his liking, so I got the container to myself. Bonus was the price - being store brand, it did not have the higher price of premium or brand name ice cream. I love a good bargain and a bargain priced decadent ice cream is a home run!!

I've tried different ice creams from different stores and have not found a replacement; had some really good ice cream, but haven't discovered "the one." That may have changed.

Last week I ordered a box of Magnum double dipped chocolate carmel bars and rec'd Biscoff double dipped bars. Oh my!! DH won't try them (don't understand his aversion to "fancy" ice cream) so I guess I really did finish the box myself (is 6 bars in 5 days too many if they're mini bars, not full size?).🙄 Completely different than the Target ice cream, but I ordered more today.

If you like cinnamon, velvety chocolate and rich ice cream, give it a try. I got the mini bars (6 to a box) and think they're just the right size; I think the larger full size bars would be too rich for 1 sitting. It's like a hug-fest party in a box ❤️🤗

I am ready for lunch so I can have dessert.

Six bars in five days are not nearly enough.

  2. Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily report.  Won’t be celebrating bed in.  Hats off to Greek Independence Day and to those recognizing Holi.  I get what the quote is trying to say.  The meal sounds delicious and unique enough to try.  The drink sounds like a festive party beverage.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events today! 🍾

  3. Good morning everyone on the cool, gray Palm Sunday.  Thanks for the daily updates.  Three important days to try and wrap my head around.  The quote is true, sadly.  I think the meal suggestion sounds quite tasty but I’ll pass on the drink.  I have not been to today’s port. Prayers for those on our prayer list today.  Cheers to those who are celebrating today!

  4. Good morning everyone.  It’s rainy and promises to be a little warmer than the past few days.  I’ll definitely celebrate chips and dip and cuddly kittens.  The quote is good advice on not becoming complacent with the good times.  The meal sounds pretty tasty.  Not sure about the drink.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events today!  Happy birthday to @seagarsmoker 🎉

  5. Good morning everyone.  Happy Friday from a cold and sunny Boston.  Three nice days to recognize today.  The poor little daffodils have been appearing in fits and starts here with all of our wacky weather this year.  I like the quote, it’s very optimistic.  Yum, cake for a meal!  The drink suggestion sounds pretty tasty, it would go nicely with cake.  I have not been to today’s port.  Praying for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to those celebrating happy events today!

  6. Good morning and happy Thursday from a cold and sunny Boston.  Three nice days to celebrate.  Lots of awesome kids out there that need to be reminded of how incredibly they are.  Funny quote today.  I think I’ll pass on the meal, we’ve been having leftover pot roast all week but the drink sounds tasty.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list.  Cheers to all who are celebrating happy events today!  Stay warm.

  7. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  I’ll gladly celebrate International Happiness Day and pass on the others.  I like the quote very much, it sounds like a nice New Year’s Day proclamation.  The meal suggestion sounds very tasty as does the drink.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to those of you who are celebrating happy events!

  8. Good morning everyone.  It’s cold and sunny here, winter is keeping a firm grasp on us today until spring takes over this evening.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  I will celebrate certified nurses and reading to children.  I find today’s quote funny as well.  Think I’ll pass on the meal suggestion but one of today’s drinks is welcome when I’m on vacation.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events today!

  9. Good Monday morning everyone.  It’s cool and sunny here.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  Nice days to recognize today.  We have a recycling closet on our floor that we add to every day.  I like the quote although DH can never figure out who I am talking to!  The meal sounds delicious but I’ll pass on the drink.  Prayers for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to the folks celebrating happy events today!

  10. Good morning and happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone from a cool, rainy Boston.  Three nice days to celebrate today.  Funny quote, I’m sure it’s a joke though.  I’ll skip the meal suggestion, when we made it last year the corned beef was so salty it ruined the dish.  I’d definitely have the drink though.  We’ve been to today’s port and enjoyed the beaches, no photos though.  Prayers for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to those folks who are celebrating happy events!

  11. Hello everyone, I’m late again today.  DH has contracted my chest cold so it’s the house of coughing, sneezing, Mucinex, Dayquil rinse and repeat. I did want to at least say happy 4th anniversary to the daily report and to all of you who make it so special.  This place evolved out of the darkness of covid (really, weren’t the posts from folks asking when they were getting their deposits back enough to make you lose it?) and spread a little light around and then a little more until it’s present form.  We’ve lifted each other up through dark times and celebrated the happy ones. I hope this continues for another four years and beyond!

  12. Good morning everyone.  Feeling a little better today.  Thank you everyone for your well wishes yesterday, they worked!  Yes, beware the Ides of March.  I like the quote, it’s true of course.  Think I’ll pass on the meal and drink today. I haven’t been to today’s port but I have been enjoying the photos.  Praying for everyone on our prayer list.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events!  Congrats to @Nickelpenny on her big win yesterday! Bon voyage to @Lady Hudson 🛳️🍾

I noticed yesterday (12 March) on the Navigator App that the events for embarkation day on 17 March for Rotterdam says: "12:00 AM DR Lunch CLOSED Dining Room, 2" and previously it said "12:00 PM Embarkation Lunch Dining Room, 2".  I wondered what was going on.

I agree with everyone who wonders how HAL could wonder why so few attended knowing that they never mention it in their boarding process and, as mentioned, everyone is directed to the Lido Deck who asks about lunch.  Sounds like an excuse that doesn't hold water to me.  🤥

Chalk another nice experience gone to the cost cutting floor...... 🤨

I agree on the lame excuse.  It sounds like the one they gave for getting rid of the libraries.  They need a better liar in Seattle!

  14. Good morning everyone.  We have another beautiful sunny day in store with less wind. I woke up with a chest cold although I was perfectly fine when I went to sleep last night.  Thanks for reminding me to refill the stapler.  Love today’s quote, ain’t that the truth!  No on the meal and drink, I don’t like Campari. I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to all of you who are celebrating happy events!  Happy birthday to @grapau27’s DW Pauline and many more.🎂

  15. Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  Beautiful sunny day here.  Three nice days to recognize, I just cleaned out our home office last week so I can skip that.  Not sure about today’s quote, there’s so much here that I’d like to discover that’s a known.  The meal and drink suggestions sound nice.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for those on our prayer list and condolences to @Nickelpenny on your loss. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today!  Happy birthday to @Quartzsite Cruiser and @Overhead Fred’s Mitzi! 🥂

  16. Good morning from a sunny, windy and cold Boston.  Thanks for the daily updates.  I don’t think that I’ll celebrate the days today but I do like the quote.  The meal and drink suggestions sound nice.  I’ve been to today’s port several times but not by ship.  Prayers for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today.  Happy birthday to @dfish’s sister Sue! 🎈🥂

  17. Good morning everyone from a cool, overcast Boston.  Three nice days to recognize, I find genealogy fascinating.  Are fanny packs still a thing?  Interesting quote that makes sense coming from an artist.  The meal suggestion sounds tasty but I’ll skip the drink.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for everyone on the prayer list and for Graham’s Sarah on her loss.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events today! 🍾

  18. Good morning from a sunny, cloudless Boston.  Happy Friday to everyone.  Thanks for the daily updates.  I would never celebrate being nasty but I will celebrate the others. My middle name is my father’s first name, Gerald.  I’ve always liked peanut clusters, I seem to recall one that sold in candy stores called Bun.  Unfortunately the quote can be true sometimes.  The meal and drink suggestions sound tasty.  I’ve never been to today’s “port” but I did watch an excellent series about it hosted by David Attenboro on my flight home from Ft. Lauderdale.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events today!

  19. Good morning everyone from a cool rainy Boston.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  Thank you Mr. Bell for your invention that we can’t live without.  No name tags necessary here.  Not sure what to make of the quote.  The meal and drink suggestions sound very good.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for everyone on our list and please add my friend and prior colleague Lauren and her family, who has a recurrence of a very aggressive cancer and has begun hospice care.  Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events today! Happy Birthday to @RedneckBob🍾

Thank you Jacqui, thank you Eva, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work.  And thank you everyone for being here!

Sorry for not posting for a while. Life got in the way.

We have been feeling very sad for a few days. Out of the blue my dog Sam has taken a turn and I will need to put him down. He has been getting weaker due to his hip dysplasia, All of a sudden on Thursday night he let out a shriek! It became very painful it seemed to rise. He was very restless after that and I ended up laying on the floor next to him trying to sooth him. Friday I spoke to the vet and doubled his pain medicatio. Somehow we got through the weekend as he got worse as his front legs were now causing problems. The vet came yesterday morning to the house (Sam is 120 pounds and unable to get in a car) to evaluate him. He has even less muscle mass in his rear legs and could have underlying issues beginning to materialize. The decision I madw was to put him down at home on Friday morning.

We have only had him 2-1/2 years and we knew what we were in for. The rescue organization classified him as a hospice dog to live the rest of his life in a kennel. But then I adopted himand gave him stability for his remaining years. His original owner had passed away and the family gave him up for adoption. He was adopted for four months but returned "as being too needy." After that , two foster homes until I got him. I had actually agreed to adopt him before letting my previous Alaskan Malamute Juno go at 13 years 2 months.

Sam has been the most affectionate dog I have ever owned. He will be the hardest to let go.

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need.

    - Jack

God bless you @Heartgrove for adopting an older animal.  I have the utmost admiration and respect for folks that do so. You made Sam’s final years loving, happy and comfortable.  There’s a special place in Heaven for people like you.
