  1. We book ourselves. I don't really know how to go about getting a TA, as weird as that sounds. We do have some available through AAA, but when I checked prices through them, and Costco Travel, it was basically a worse deal. We got more OBC, but the price of the room was several hundred dollars more expensive, which negated the benefits of the OBC. Carnival had a really good sale where we got OBC, plus the price guarantee, so we were fine with booking directly through them.

I am neither pro nor con in this but something isnt right if the price wasn't the same. Maybe not comparing apples to apples.

Never heard of an agency who charged more than booking direct. Who would book for more money?

As for the price guarantee that is good no mater who you book with.

  2. If it was an early saver booking and you can find an open cruise to book them on, Carnival will likely apply $400 of thr penalty. Call Carnival and see what they can do.

Hopefully, but I'm betting it was past final payment when it got canceled so probably would cost them the $500 deposit unless CCL was nice and feels like giving them a break.

Like you said, call them and see. Nothing to lose.:)

  3. You were right. Someone just referred to the OP and others that like FTTF “fools.” Another person referred to it as “$90 to carry on your luggage.” They turn mean spirited really quick. Just because you don’t see the value in something doesn’t mean it isn’t of value. And name calling shows a complete lack of class. I have no idea what the reference to carrying on luggage is about. They obviously have no idea what FTTF is about. I’m platinum now but when we used to use FTTF it was never about getting our luggage carried on. We loved the short line at guest services, the priority tenders, and early boarding. And even though I’m platinum and some of my peers complain about the FTTF people, I don’t. I understand why they purchase it and the value they see in it.

    I don't know but I didn't find dsotm73's post mean spirited.

He simply asked a question while shaking his head.

The reference to carrying on your luggage was about moongals's post stating she pays the $90 just so her room is ready since she carries on her bags.

Anyway was just my take on the reference. Did't find it inflammatory at all.

The other person that said people are fools should be taken for what they are. That poster is the Henny Youngman of the Carnival board.

    YMMV

  4. You can write to whomever you want, but if there are no ADA balcony cabin with a capacity of three on the ship you want to sail, that is just the way it is. They cannot suddenly create one for you. I am ADA as well BTW.

She didn't say she wanted to magically make one appear for her cruise.

She wanted to see if they could have some on future ships in that class that are yet to be built.

  5. I submitted two LPGCF's online yesterday for the two cabins we have on our upcoming August cruise.

Is there anywhere in my account I can see a record of these? Not necessary if they are approved or not (I know that can take a coupe days), but just a record of what I submitted?

I have looked everywhere and nothing. I am more curious than concerned.

Did you just book the cabins? I think the lowest price guarantee forms are for if you find a lower price within 48 hours of booking.

The other form is the early save form for price drops anytime up until 2 days before sailing.[emoji1]

  6. Anybody have an email address of somebody at NCL that could help get my money back?

It's been 5 weeks and every time i call they say the same thing. You should have it next week.

    TIA

  7. Ok, a few things confuse me right now. You are saying you were upgraded from a Balcony for 3 people to 2 Havanas cabins. You went for 3 cruisers to 4, from what you are saying. Your reservation was not "Split" but rather a new reservation for a 2nd cabin was created. Your 1st cabin was a balcony for 3, I am guessing that either this balcony could not accommodate more than 3, there were no other balconies available for 4, no other balconies for 2 or you decided to splurge and get a Havana cabin. I do not know why the arrival appointment and dining times changed for the original booking, but do understand how the 2nd booking would be wait listed as well as have a different arrival appointment.

One of the disadvantages of using a TA is that only the TA can speak to Carnival on your behalf so that complicates things. You have no way of knowing exactly what the TA has done other than what they have told you.

As to escalating or resolving these "issues" I would ask to speak to the TA's supervisor as well as others have said to contact the Maitre'd by email or John Heald by FB. Both will do their best to help you with this issue, however, at this late time, it may not be exactly to your preference.

Another suggestion, see if you can all switch to YTD, even if wait listed. If nothing else, with YTD, you can all sit together and chose when you wish to eat. With YTD, you can request the same waitstaff each night and still get that more personal service that scheduled dining has.

I agree with this 100%. I think that would be the easiest resolution but OP has said she hates YTD.

Why I don't know, unless she wants to sit at a big table with others.

  8. Thanks for sharing this. Gives me some hope that we will be able to board before the very last group. With only 13 days until sailing, it's unlikely that any earlier slots will open up. We will keep checking, but will take our chances and arrive early.

As for linking our bookings, we have no idea what the status is. Our TA has been told we are linked. But nothing in our online records or cruise documents confirms that. We are waitlisted for different dining times, and have been assigned different boarding times. No options to choose anything else. Only hope is to try and resolve things onboard -- which will be time consuming and may prove fruitless. Carnival will not guarantee seating for our family of 4 at the same time or in the same dining room. We would hate Your Time dining, but at this point, we'd take any option that would allow to eat dinner together.

hopefully everything will get resolved before you board.

Why would you hate your time dining?

  9. You can go to Guest Services and ask them to remove the one DSC that they say you haven't paid for. You will have to pay it, but will get a refund on it in a few weeks or so.

    If you are lucky.

OP I see it has all worked out for you.:)

  10. Following. I also emailed them and received no response.

We were there earlier this year. It was $7pp r/t for the water taxi.

Then it was $25 for 2 chairs, an umbrella, and 4 beers.

You can also substitute waters or sodas for the beers. If I remember correctly you could get 2 mixed drinks instead fo the 4 beers. We just got the beers so didn't pay that much attention.

There was a place right next to them called Nu that offered the same package with I think 5 beers.

  11. I looked at all their Caribbean sailings for next March and they all have the Free at sea deal, which let's you choose unlimited drinks/specialty dining/excursion credits/free wifi.

which IMO makes their rates very attractive, and should not cost 2K more as the op thought.

For the sailing on March 24th the total for 3 in the cheapest balcony is

    TOTAL

$ 3,581 50 after adding the $276 for the gratuities for the beverage package for the first 2 and the dining package which includes 3 nights specialty dining for the first 2.

If the 3rd wants to go they'll have to pay additional.

OP didn't say what they paid or how many are going. Could be only 2 and one of them is a school teacher or they are bringing a child or 2 that has only the one week off.

  12. We just booked a cruise on the Oasis and we will be going to St. Thomas and St. Marteen. Am looking for suggestions on excursions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am overwhelmed. We like doing anything really.

    Thank you.

Recently took the water taxi ($7 pp r/t) over to city center and went to Holland House.

It is a nice beach day. Got 2 chairs,an umbrella, and 4 beers for $25.

  13. Yes, it is outrageous! I usually book AS SOON AS FLIGHTS OPEN for the best price. I usually email Southwest requesting date mine will open, and then jump on them. My daughter argued that it’s better to wait until just before flying to book, but I proved her wrong this past cruise. I booked in June for my January cruise on the day my dates became available. I got a non stop flight from Buffalo to Ft Lauderdale for $170pp. She waited, and it was astronomical. She decided to drive. I’m now on the lookout for my March 1 flight. It probably won’t be available until end of July or August.

We just booked our flights to San Juan Thursday when flights opened on Southwest. Got nonstop flights from Baltimore for $122 pp each way with pretty good flight times.

Outbound flight is already up to $174pp with the flight home is now $138pp.

We have to drive to Baltimore from Philly but glad to do it as the nonstop flights from Philly on AA are $439pp plus bag fees.

Southwest does not fly to San Juan from Philly nonstop

  14. That's right! Hopefully you will have tablemates....it makes dinner so much more fun! Your dinner will likely change to 5:45pm....most of the time, Main seating is earlier than 6...but no worries...it takes a bit to order, get drinks, etc...

If you want a drink with dinner (cocktail, not water)....stop at a bar BEFORE dinner and pick up your drink of choice....it can take quite a while to get that 1st drink nowadays. Better to have one with you, and order another when you're seated.

Please speak for yourself. My wife and I would much rather dine by ourselves.

  15. can take up to a couple of weeks, the only time we had to cancel it was more like a few days.

My buddy canceled a week after me and he got his back in less than a week.

I'm at the 25 day mark now and counting.

  16. No problem with the Jones Act which does not apply, or the PVSA which would not apply either....Freeport is not a US port.

Where your problem is...is with the cruise line. Without an iron clad reason (like serious illness or death), they no longer allow downline disembarkation. Partly due to paperwork and fees, partly because they have to arrange with local immigration authorities for their inspection services and the ship has to resubmit the passenger manifest with US CBP.

Bahamian authorities will be involved with this situation.

You will need at least a passport card, possibly the book.

Thanks for the correct info Thinfool.:)

Also to the OP: It doesn't matter if you stopped in foreign ports before getting to Freeport. It still doesn't violate the PVSA.

  17. Took them about 3 weeks when they cancelled our cruise in January

Last I called on the 24th of May I was told they were expediting it.

Said they couldn't refund the money when I canceled my booking because the date on my credit card had an expiration date of 4/18 although I got a new card for the same account with a different year of expiration.

They never contacted me to let me know this. I have to wonder if they had any plans to notify me.

I know it's going to get here eventually, just impatient.
