After a fall on the   Eurodam in October 2019 not the ship's responsibility, if you spill or see a spill, please contact a ship's crew member. I fell in a puddle in the Lido , spent 5days in a wheelchair, still using a cane. Ship's staff took excellent care of me, from Doctors to room stewards to deck staff  My advice watch where you step, and please alert ship's crew when you see something.

And if you make a mess on the Lido floor, please alert the crew to clean it up. Watched a woman drop a scoop of icecream on the floor. She looked at it, sighed, and turned around and went off back to get another one.

    When was Senator Inouye around?

The Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886 (sometimes abbreviated to PVSA, Passenger Services Act, or PSA) is a protectionist piece of United States legislation which came into force in 1886 relating to cabotage. Essentially, it says:

No foreign vessels shall transport passengers between ports or places in the United States, either directly or by way of a foreign port, under a penalty of $200 (now $762) for each passenger so transported and landed.

Unfortunately, most Americans feel that their rights and privileges extend no matter where in the world they are, and this is just not correct.  Stepping on a foreign flag cruise ship puts you in a foreign country, even when cruising the Inside Passage in Alaska.  As I noted, the Medicare proviso for covering medical expenses within 6 hours of a US port is for US flag vessels.  So, yes, you need medical insurance that covers travel to a foreign country whenever you cruise.

Thank you for your wise and knowedgeable input chengkp75.

The doctors time now cost $120 for new patient as of July, 2019.  HAL's new profit center.  My July visit had a total of $400 for supplies, and $775 for professional services like taking my oxygen level by finger and using a needle to draw blood.  My previous medical center visit was $85 and no charge for BP or oxygen check.

But you agreed to this in the contract that you have with Holland America. Please note the part about independent contractor.

DH is elated that he won't have to take a suit to the Amazon River like he did 6 years ago!  He will wear dockers and a collared shirt.  I will wear dress slacks, a sparkly top and beautiful pashmina.  People only see you from the waist up anyway!  So glad the dress code is more relaxed.  We cruise to enjoy each other's company at a table for 2, not to "impress" others.

    Karen

We will be at the table for two next to you 😀.

My goodness, I had never heard that. How can you effectively run a cruise line when you have never experienced cruising?

Have the managers of all brain surgery hospitals had brain surgery? I have had the surgery (got the scar to prove it) but there is no way that I could manage the hospital.
