My husband and I buy one photo from each cruise and put them in a dedicated photo album. We can flip through the pages and see how we've aged! We have a photo from our NA sailing last spring.

fyree39, This is your cruise doctor. I suggest that you take 6 more cruises, and then check to see whether you are still aging. If yes, then repeat the treatment - 6 more cruises. Continue to do this until you achieve the desired result or can no longer cruise. 😉

It could be worse. Gwyneth Paltrow is now linked with Celebrity -- together they are planning a "GOOP at sea" cruise, which may morph into more. Read here:  https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2722637-gwyneth-paltrows-goop-at-sea-is-coming-to-celebrity/

Want to know what you are missing out on not having GOOP and Paltrow on HAL?😏🤯😷

I want to make one thing perfectly clear - my issue with HAL is NOT that they have had a technical problem and had to cancel the cruise.  Stuff happens and that is why, as a company, there should be alternate plans for communication and remediation in place.  HAL seems to be hit or miss in both departments.  We have the technology in place today to determine whether emails have been received and READ - Celebrity requires me to link back to them when they have a message of importance.  HAL apparently doesn't or doesn't care.  It seems to be hit or miss and the onus has been placed on the passenger to make themselves aware of this problem and to pursue a solution.  I really think that is bad customer service.

mimianderson could you please tell us who told you that the email had gone to 'the wrong address'? Thank you.

I think the only ones available now are on Deck 10 - BB040 and BB042.  I'm surprised there is still a set of connecting cabins available, which is why now I'm wondering what's wrong with them!

Those cabins are under the carpeted seating area of the Lido. There should be no problem from above (we had 45 days on Maasdam earlier this year).

We board our cruise on the Maasdam today and I have another question in relation to the bottle of wine we are allowed to take on board - my son is 19 years old and over the legal drinking age in Australia - is he able to take a bottle of wine on-board?  I know HAL operates under the American system where the legal age is 21 - just curious if this rule still applies in Australia?  Many thanks.

    Yes.

The scuba trip was for Bonaire.

In your first post you said snorkel, in this one you say scuba. Which one are you trying to book, there is a big difference between the two types. It would not be unusual for there to be an age limit for scuba diving, especially for new-comers.

  7. Btimmer , you were so lucky to get off the ship for the whole day. I am still reeling from what happened to those of us who do not have US or Canadian passports! We waited from 8am until 1pm to spend 30 seconds with the immigration officer. It took so long, that we were feed sandwiches and coffee by the crew as we waited in line at 12pm.

We were required to have a printed copy of our electronic esta, and also to complete another double sided form that was a repeat of all the questions in the esta.

We are on this cruise..stuff happens but we are having a great time.  So sorry to miss Boca D Valeria but glad we saw it a few years ago.

We are also thoroughly enjoying this trip. We came for an adventure - and that is what we are having!  Glad to hear that you are also having a great time.

We simply move away when the complainers start up with their nonsense and claims for compensation. Life is too short to spend time listening to them.

Hi, I am new to HAL and made a booking online during the Black Friday Sale.

Is there a New Zealand free call number or even an Australian number?  I need to sort out an issue.

I have sent a query via email on the website. How long does it take to get answered?

Can you transfer your booking to a TA?

Yes you can call the Sydney office Mon to Fri 9 to 5 and Sat morning to 12 (Sydney time). Dial 61 in front of the Sydney 1800 number. They answer very quickly and are helpful.

So when Volendam got stuck did you feel anything? Any shake? Sounds? Shift towards one side?

We were awake at this time. The ship tilted very slighty, and I waited for the slight roll back, but didn't feel it. It must have moved again slightly, as it did not feel tilted during the morning. With so much then happening I didn't notice anything else.

Quick question for those of you on the Volendam....have they replaced the tubs with a shower? We are in a Vista room and wondered if we would have to deal with the tubs. Thanks in advance....Barb

We have a new shower in a Lanai. Shower is the same size as the old bath and is walk in with a glass door.

If you go to Hal’s site and read the description of the Volendam it says there interactive TVs and a mini frig in every cabin. I believe this is an upgrade from before.

We are on Volendam right now in a Lanai. Yes to new tv, no to fridge (still having to cool my wine in an ice bucket😦
