  1. We played pinochle daily at a table by the Horizon Court and Scoops! What a view - it was a 2 week cruise to Hawaii and we had wonderful warm weather last April. You will see lots of people playing cards and dominoes at the tables daily! In the afternoon the cart with hot chocolate chip cookies and cold milk came by about 3:00! And with Scoops close by it was a dangerous combination! One day when it was windy and cold we moved to a table and chairs by the international cafe - same dangerous goodies close by!

  2. Yes it will, but you do not need to worry about the safety of your iPad in your cabin. We left ours charging in plain sight along with our iPhones and never had issues. The stewards do not want to lose their jobs over theft of your belongings!

  3. You mean they are now charging you a corkage fee just to bring it onboard? I thought it got charged when you took it to the dining room to drink. Why should I pay corkage if I bring my own corkscrew - which I routinely do - to drink in my cabin? And before anyone thinks I'm cheap, my bar bills are routinely in the $600 range for a two week cruise.

If you bring on more than 2 bottles (one per person) they charge you when you board. If you take one of your allowed "free" bottles to the dining room, they charge your account for the corkage fee then. If you drink your. "Free" ones I. Your room there are no charges .

  4. Wear what will make you happy. For men a suit and tie is fine and you can wear the same suit over and over. I take a couple of dress shirts just in case one gets dirty. If you are concerned about pictures take several ties, they are light in weight to pack. For me - I take 2 pairs of dressy slacks and multiple dressy tops to go with them. This works well on a long cruise. Be sure and bring a pashmina shawl as the theaters get cool from time to time. I also used mine with my coat on a really cold and windy day trip.

  5. Trust me - even if they would accommodate 13 - you would NOT want a table that large. The service would be very slow. I would go traditional and get 2 tables close by. You can always rotate to visit with each other and they can link all of your bookings so they would be side by side tables.

  6. Hopefully someone who has that promotion on their cruise will confirm how it is handled. On a previous promo for excursion credit it just showed up in our onboard credit and did not have to be used that way.

  7. On Grand class ships there is a outlet under the bed and my husband dutifully crawls under the bed to plug mine in. It does require a European converter, but we always keep one with a short extension cord in the zipper pocket on the outside of my Cpap machine bag. I like this because no cords across the room. I will be on the Royal for 27 days so I am hoping the configuration is the same! I can report back after the cruise!

  8. We have decided not to take several cruises that required flying into or out of Heathrow because of the outrageous fees. On one, the fees would have been over $900 for the two of us. We do usually use FF miles, sometimes Business class, sometimes economy. Fees for flying into Rome were a little over $100, so guess which we did.

Unfortunately, those fees have really impacted whether we will cruise or tour in the UK, or take a cruise that ends/begins there. We just won't pay those fees and will find somewhere else to go that doesn't start or end there.

I agree - I have British Airway miles and they are practically useless as they all route thru London and you get the huge fee!

  9. We stayed there before our Hawaiian cruise last April and there is a van driver that will take you anywhere (we tipped him of course) he took us to a heavenly Italian restaurant with home made food that was reasonably priced. When we finished he came back and got us and took us by the Von's to pick up soda and bottled water! We really like that hotel! Have fun!

  10. <<Are the initials P.S. in your not too distant future? :p >>

not in my future anymore. It's now on my wrist!!

We've been having a lot of fun at trivia and it was great to meet Neil and Sam. I am more of a bystander with the others being better than me. I have contributed a bit though, a little bit. It sure is fun winning though :)

What pretty birthday bauble did you get? Miss getting emails - but glad you are having fun on your cruise!

  11. Thanks Mike- I was also wondering about them. Love staying at the ES since it is so close.

What is the "w" and the ES - I am guessing the Westin and Embassy Suites, but for those of us who are reading to get ideas for future cruises and good places to stay - it would help us to know these abbreviations.
