  1. We've don like 8 Carnival cruises and not been on any other lines. After reading about all the Carnival cutback complaints we decided we'd maybe try something else. Found a NCL cruise we might like but decided to monitor the NCL boards for a while before booking. I'm glad I did. Seems that NCL cutbacks might make Carnival look like they aren't cutting back at all. Looks like NCL is even charging for room service now. Guess I'll stay with my old friend Carnival. :)

  2. Maybe longer than you think.

One could walk into the kid's cabin at sail away and find one's 18 year old 6'4" son standing on a chair on the balcony.

This could be a kid that is supposed to have normal intelligence.

Don't ask me how I know.

The words "kid", "18 year old" and "normal intelligence" can never be used in the same sentence. I think it's one of the rules of English grammar.

  3. Yes they do, they are very safe for all ages. We travel in balconies with kids all the time. Balconies as well as cabin doors are quite difficult to open. The OP must have a super strong child!

If bungee cords, sideways strollers or door stops don't work, try a good old fashioned spanking.

But that would have a negative impact on the child's "self esteem". ;)

  4. Any tio on the receipt whether the regular or additional is shared. Cash however is not shared.

If you want a particular bartender to get the entire tip, cross the tip out and tip in cash.

Just curious, how do you know this?

Most who talk to bartenders seem to report that the specific bartender gets the tip. I can't imagine why a number of bartenders would report they get the tip if it wasn't true.

  5. Every receipt I ever got on a Carnival ship had a blank space for an additional tip regardless of weather or not the tip was included in the price of the product or service. I think even the gift shop receipts have a place to add an additional tip.

  6. If the politicians tax the tourists they don't have to worry about how they will vote in the next election. That's why hotel/motel, rental cars and other such tourist only services are taxed so heavily. It's true everywhere, not just Texas. However, Texas does have some really strange alcohol laws.

  7. Yeah, a lot of places have some strange laws. Last time I went fishing in NW Ontario I found out you can only have one line in the water for each licensed fisherman in the boat. In the states there's no such limit I've ever run into.
