  1. There is a rather large and heavy cook book that has been published that contains recipes from Oceania . Probably has Jacques Pepin in title. I know that it was given as a gift for some cruises about 4 years ago. Not for the cruise I was on though. Might be available in book stores. I am sure that every ship has one in their library. The recipe will probably be in that book.

  2. The way it is done is what Cunard does not like. One is to take a clean cup or glass and fill it from the dispenser and then pour it into their personal container. Yes, people do put beverages right into their containers from the spigot. I have showed the sign to some and they just keep doing it. Oh well. I try.

  3. DH and I had a sheltered balcony, think it was deck 4. This was NY - SOU - NY last November. First time and we enjoyed it. Did not feel dark at all. Very windy on Promenade but we were able to go out on our balcony as we were protected from the wind. Not for long though as it was also cold on the North Atlantic in November.

I would book it again. Half of the time there is no sun on your balcony anyway. On sheltered balcony you can stand at the railing and enjoy the sea and look right down the side to the water, as mentioned in one of the above posts. If you want to sit in the sun, you can go to upper deck.

I am with UDSpud......my husband usually wears a suit or a separate combo with a tie for dinner. I do not make him. I do not offer any suggestions of what he wears. It is really true......many women "check him out" and they give him many compliments.

  5. Just turned diamond on my double TA in November. Picked up my pin from World Club office. Opened it right outside the door. Was I ever surprised. For years I have been working towards (it has actually been fun) the diamond status and receiving my diamond pin. World Club told me this was the new design and that is all they had. I am really disappointed.

I want to email Cunard to let them know how disappointed I am with the new pin. I do not know where to write. Could someone help please. I could phone, but figure someone would listen to my rant and then do nothing about it. I would phone the number used to book a cruise. I am from Canada and there is no 1-800 number for World Club.

We were given a short survey and told that we would receive a more in-depth survey when we returned home. This was booked as 2 separate cruises. Did not receive any type of survey.

Another question for Cunard.....the eastward crossing was regular, however the westward was booked as a Big Band Cruise. There was no difference in the 2 cruises. On the Thursday nights of both cruises they had a Big Band night. I thought on the Big Band cruise that there would be more Big Band music played in the Queen's Room.

Any opinions on the new style pins?

If we walked to Mount Gay Barbados Rum Distillery, (as previous posted wanted to do) would Brandons Beach be just up ahead? Can you walk there on sidewalks even though the map shows it as Jen Highway?

You said it was a long walk. Would it be a 1 hour walk (I walk slowly). OK with us.

For just walking along at the edge of the water, would Brandons Beach be good, in your opinion.

    Thanks.

I was told that I could get to Accra beach by bus. Years ago, I remember seeing the bus terminal in Bridgetown, but could someone please tell me how far away is the bus terminal from where the ship docks? I do remember riding the buses.

Are there any shuttles that run from the cruise ship to the center of town in Bridgetown? Could I walk to bus terminal? Two miles would be ok for walking. Sailing with Oceania.

    Thanks for any information.

Lido Deck - You mentioned that there is a free shuttle from MIA to POM. Where can I get more information on this? Where would I go to get on this shuttle. Is it the size of a big bus? How often does it leave MIA for the port and does it stop at all port terminals?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

I was told NO when I was on Queen Victoria last year. My husband and I were to be on the cruise, but he had to cancel at the last minute. I was solo passenger and asked for this. It was for 26 days that I could have enjoyed the chaise. There was lots of room if the 2 regular chairs were removed.

However, I was told NO. They might do it for health reasons though.

    -.-.-.

  10. DH and I will be coming in 2 days ahead to Miami. We land in afternoon, so will take shuttle to airport hotel. However, the next day we will be looking around in Miami. Our hotel is near a bus stop. This is in February 2017.

Instead of paying for each ride, is there a way that we can get a Day Pass, either for Family or individual? I thought they might be sold at the airport, but we would want it for the next day, not the day of arrival. Are Day Passes sold at grocery stores or drug stores. There is a CVS near our hotel.

If we just used cash, does anyone know the cost of a ride. Any reduction for Seniors who are visitors to Miami? I remember (slightly) from a previous visit to Miami that transfers were not given.

I have searched on the Miami Transportation site, but could not find answer.

Also, we are from Canada. We do not have phones or modern technology to use.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Just read a review from sfo-john who was on a crossing (The date given was October 18, 2016). They mentioned that it was 11:00 am and they were still on the ship. To get off they said that they had an apointment. There was no mention of why it was so late.

Another person mentioned that it was not a good experience leaving the ship in Red Hook in September.

I was going to ask for a car service at 10:00, but now maybe 11:00 would be better. I do not mind waiting. I know that we are to phone the car service when we are ready to be picked up. However, being Canadian, and my phone is only for emergencies (I know, that dates me, but DH is always close by) I would not have a way to phone the car service. If there were Americans around, and if they had time, would they be able to make a local call to the service for me without charges to them?

Booking the crossing was easier decision than booking the transfer to EWR.

    Thanks for all information.

Thanks 3rdGenCunarder.....Yes, I remember now seeing a story in our local newspaper when it was completed. At the time I thought that it would be a fun thing to do. However, forgot about it.

As you said, November would not be the best time to do this walk. I will leave it for the next time we are in New York before our crossing to Southampton. Next crossing will be in spring.

Safarigal - What is the High Line Walk. Sounds interesting as we are not sure what to do before the Nov. 12th crossing on one day in New York. New York is a big city, but what is best to see?

Laktex - When Queen Mary 2 arrives in New York on Nov. 26/16, she will be docking at Red Hook, so the bus will not be available.

ednria - I was not aware that there were separate lines for grills and "steerage" for imigration when leaving the ship. I have never seen them. Does the grills line also include diamond?

We have an afternoon flight out of EWR. I try not to book a flight that is too early. I am never in a hurry to get off the ship. I would never be able to do self embarkation either. Why hurry up to then have to wait at the airport.

I was thinking of taking the Cunard transfer, but do you have to hurry off if you are taking that? Does anyone know what time the last transfer bus would leave for EWR? The cost is $48.00 per person. I have looked into the cost of car service and it is $98.00. There are only 2 of us, so that would be about the same price. However, I wonder where they pick you up. I do not know what the cruise port at Red Hook looks like.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for replies.

DH and I sailing on QM2 soon. He has a nice tux that fits, but was wondering about rentals. He is worried that they will not have size 40 with 34" pant. This is a popular size and is often hard to find. Do they usually have enough for all those wanting to rent?

Also, does anyone know the cost of recent rentals.

    Thanks for any replies.

DH and I sailing on QM2 soon. Just got our luggage tags. They have a red border with white and lime green diagonal stripes. We are Diamond, but nowhere on the tags does it say "Priority Boarding". Other cruises it has always said Priority Boarding. Has this changed?

    Thanks for any replies.
