  1. This has happened to us after a cruise. It would have been about 4 years ago though. We were not let off right at the terminal and we all had to walk up a hill. We all complained. Driver said that was where he was to let us all off.

We took the Oceania transfer that time as we had OBC to use. We now take a taxi. However, the length of the line when getting off the Riviera is usually quite long. Maybe a transfer is the way to go, especially if you have a lot of OBC.

  2. I have looked at the Ports of Call section for this answer, but found nothing. We are on the Riviera in February 2016. I was looking over the shore excursions and was surprised to read about the one at Cayo Levantado.

It says that for $79.00 you can take a speed boat ride from the Riviera to the beach at Cayo Levantado and enjoy the beach with chair, umbrella, and (do not remember exactly what drink or food was included).

We were there before, and I think it was 2 years ago. This is an anchor port. We were given the speed boat ride to Cayo Levantado (no charge). We could use the beach to swim or sit. We had to sit on the plastic chairs. The padded chairs were for rent. There were people who came around to offer drinks that you had to pay for. We were then taken back to the ship on the same boat. One boat came back and forth and operated like a tender. Those who had shore excursions were tendered to Samana. We were told that there was nothing there, so we went to the island.

However, it is now listed as an excursion for $79.00. I sent an email to my TA and she said that maybe it would be offered at a more reasonable price from the shore. By taking this from the shore, we would have to take the tender to Samana and then take the speed boat to Cayo Levantado and then take the speed boat back to Samana and then take the tender to the Riviera. DH would not go through all of this even for a day at the beach.

My question is - what did they do on the Riviera cruise of Dec. 2, 2015? Was anyone on that cruise, or has anyone been to this port in the last few months. Any help would be appreciated.

I just wanted to mention that the port is listed as Cayo Levantado in the itinerary, they shouldn't make you pay to get there. lol

  3. I need HELP please. DH and I are flying from Toronto to Miami for a cruise. We only need flight to Miami as we will be driving home after the cruise with friends. We have never flown business class. Do not mention points as we never seem to get enough or they just disappear after lapsed time. We only fly once each year.

It is an anniversary cruise and I want to surprise DH with a business class flight since it is only one way.

I could book AA and it would be $479.33 Canadian per person. 737-800. Or I could book AC for $793.80 Canadian on A321.

I have done a search and not come up with any answers.

    1. Why is there such a difference in the price of the 2 airlines?

    2. A search says that there is no lounge admittance with the AA flight, but could not find a yes or no for AC.

    3. Both flights are non stop.

I would like to do something special for my DH and surprise him. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Posters are always mentioning that a good TA will give perks. However, no one ever mentions the value of those perks. It has been a few years since our last Oceania cruise. I do not believe that our regular TA gave us anything if it was not given across the board by Oceania.

DH and I are thinking of booking B2B 10 day Caribbean cruises for Feb 2016. I have been waiting for prices to drop, but they have not. Nothing special is offered from Oceania for these cruises. They are popular and incentives do not have to be given to fill the ship.

These cruises will total more than $16,000.00 US. We are Canadian, so add another 25%. OUCH The cruises that I am looking at do not have the Canadian reduction like some other cruises.

If I book and then the price drops or incentives are offered across the board, do I get a reduction in cash or is the price reduction in the form of OBC. Now that I think of it, after final payment I am sure it is OBC.

Just wondering what people think (or know) their TA would give in this situation.

    Thanks

OP says "Here on the internet in the States" does that mean that you live in the US? If so, you can call the office in California to book a cruise. The number is 800-728-6273.

You or your friend could also visit a travel agent that sells Cunard cruises. Do a google to find one in your area.

    Hope this helps.

Is there any way a passenger can find out if there is a large group on board your cruise before you book it? We were on 1 cruise where there was a very large group. It was not the noise of people talking to each other in the halls that was bothersome, as that did not happen. However, some of the venues were closed. at certain times, and only the member of the group were allowed to attend. Do not want that to happen again.

    Thanks for any replies.

Sounds like a good promotion. Would you mind sharing where you saw this promotion. DH and I are also looking at this cruise on Feb 2, 2016. We are waiting for the price to come down a bit. The cruise we are looking at is on the Riviera.

Please let me know. Hope it is still available. Thank you.

To be able to travel on a Cunard ship for your 13th cruise should make you feel lucky. I have lost count of how many Cunard cruises that I have been on. I just know that I am Diamond, which is over 150 days.

Each of those days has been a memorable day. Wake up to see the sea (sometimes it is a new port), I have just had a comfortable sleep with nice linen. Off to a nice breakfast to start the day. Many enjoyable things to do during the day. Then after a fun day, maybe I just sat on deck all day relaxing or was busy around or off the ship, I can shower and get dressed up for dinner. There is always a show, or music or something going on around the ship.

I know this is not what you asked, but this is what a day on a Cunard ship means to me.

I was recently on Queen Victoria (regular balcony) and when my entre was delivered to the table, the waiter would always use napkin to handle the plate and let me know that it was hot. Which it always was. The food was always delicious. The table mates were fun to talk to. Every day was enjoyable.

I am not sure why people want to travel in the Grills. When the majority of people are on a Cunard ship, they do not even think of the Grills. The regular passengers are treated very well in my opinion. Maybe you should try being a regular passenger on a Cunard ship. You might like it. The cabins might be a bit smaller, but during a few days holiday, you should be able to manage.

Maybe you will be my table mate the next cruise. Oh, by the way, the best table mates are not those who repeatedly talk and brag about the places that they have been.

Maybe that does not answer your question OP, but I just had to vent.

My husband and I have been married for 50 years and back in the days when we were courting, it was very common to hold hands when walking down the street. We still do, not always but quite often, when going for a walk. We live in Canada. Please let me know why you would not hold hands in Mississippi, Alabama or even Arizona. What might happen.

I seriously do not know why. Thank you.

Live in Canada. Yesterday I received an email from Cunard offering 25% off cruise prices - but wait - the cruises were for January, February and March of 2015. I tried to reply back to see if the wrong email was sent to me and I should have received an email for specials of upcoming cruises, however came back as undeliverable.

This email had my name and also my World Club Number on it. If this email was for specials for new cruises, I would be interested.

Did anyone else from Canada (or any other country) receive this email. Does anyone know of a way that I could let Cunard know that this outdated email was sent.

While I am here. Does anyone know of a way that I could get UK, US or Australian pricing for any of the cruises I am looking at. They will only give me Canadian pricing. Since the Canadian dollar is so low compared to US dollar, I was wondering if it would be to my advantage to book in another currency, if possible, and how I could see pricing in other currencies.

    Thanks in advance.

  11. The dress code on Cunard is there for a reason. We enjoy dressing on a cruise. Very few men remove their jackets and go out of dress code during the dance.

Men start removing clothing so that they are more comfortable. Can women remove clothing (bra, girdle, nylon stockings, high heels) also to be more comfortable?

Seriously, I have been married to a gentleman for nearly 50 years. Not once in that time has he removed his suit jacket at a dance, in an upscale restaurant, at a wedding, etc., or on the dance floor at home or on a cruise. On a cruise we are dancing most of the night and neither of us remove our clothes.

He is so handsome in his tux.

  12. On any of my cruises, unless you need a Visa for a country, a current passport that is valid until 6 months after you return home is sufficient. Some countries it is only 2 months, but the cruise line still wants 6 months.

    This has been my experience.

  13. Just returned from section of World Cruise on Queen Victoria. Great cruise. One new friend was in cabin 1066. His first cruise. Light sleeper and he had trouble sleeping. During the night there was banging from above. Would wake him and he could not get back to sleep. On deck plan it looks like the area above is Queens Room.

He complained many times to the Purser's office. They would not try to find out what was causing this banging. They would not investigate when times of the banging were given to them.

One morning when we were eating breakfast in the Lido there was a loud bang from above that startled me. He said that was the type of bang that he was hearing during the night.

Just wondered if anyone else has had cabin 1066 on Queen Victoria or a cabin closeby and has heard this banging. He is not a CC member and I said that I would ask this question for him.

    Thanks for any information.

  14. Thank you to both fellow Canadians. I guess I will reconsider the helmet walk. Can not remember how expensive it was. We did an Atlantis submarine about 10 years ago and the sub chased the fish away. We were very disappointed even though it was a great experience for one who had never snorkeled. Probably the same happens with the helmet tour and that is why they give the warning.

I will take the ships excursions probably and hope that the day is nice and the water is not too rough.

    Thanks again.

  15. to snorkel in Hawaii or the South Pacific Islands or New Zealand than in the Caribbean. I have snorkeled 5 times in the Caribbean, taking cruise ship excursions, and really enjoyed it. That was over the last 5 years. I was a senior citizen who is comfortable in water (small female) before I got the chance to go snorkeling.

Now, I am taking a cruise to Hawaii and South Pacific Islands and from what I have read for the descriptions of the snorkeling excursions, I am wondering if it is more difficult. Are the waters more wavy? Does it just depend on the day. I am inclined to not go snorkeling on this cruise. My husband does not snorkel and does not like to go out on the small boat to the snorkeling site either.

There is one excursion, not sure what port it is at, where you put "helmets" on your head and walk along the floor in about 10 feet of water to see the wildlife. They actually say that you might or might not see wildlife. Does all of the activity scare the fish away. You do not get your head wet. Probably not as exciting, but better than nothing. Has anyone ever done an excursion like this?

    Thanks for any help.
