  1. I would be down at the Guest Services desk demanding a refund of my cruise fare, DSC, port taxes and made sure I got a pen with the cruise line logo. Oh..and a free dinner. And strawberries. Definitely choc covered strawberries.

LOL!!! Don't forget that cheese tray also. I hope there were no injuries, and the damage to the dock and ship can be fixed pretty quickly.

  2. Looking forward to hearing all about your trip, and seeing pictures! :) It always irritates me when people talk during the muster drills, same thing when the flight attendant gives her/his safety speech. I too am glad NCL does inside muster drill. One of the most miserable ones we endured was on Disney many years ago with two children, hot weather and life jackets. I remember it like it was yesterday, lol.

  3. The plastic containers with the days of the week have worked for my husband in the past. His of course were basically maintenance meds (blood pressure, acid reflux meds). If we were to have to take prescribed narcotics, I would leave them in their original bottle.

  4. It's a fun pool deck party!! Lots of dancing and flashing lights. The crew does a great job at entertaining. Also they pass out glow sticks and necklaces. Of course, wear white so you will "glow" or seem bright from all the lights.

  5. Excellent review! I am going to check out your excursion for Costa Maya. We are so undecided on what to do that day. Right now our plans were to just walk off the ship, explore the port area itself and then head back to the ship. We kinda had our fingers crossed the ship might be empty then, lol. I'm also excited to head to Margaritaville. When we last sailed on the Getaway, Flamingo grill was still there. I don't mind the cover charge, seems like a decent deal to me. Thanks for taking the time to write your review :)

  6. Welcome to the boards!!

There are a lot of hotels in the port area in the Brickell/Downtown area to fit all kinds of budgets.

If you search, you will find many threads on the subject. These are just a few off the top of my head..

In the Brickell area is Four Seasons, Hampton Inn & Suites, JW Marriott, East Hotel, The Conrad, the brand new Hyatt Centric opening any day, SLS, SLS Lux about to open, Mandarian Oriental, Aloft, Homewood Suites, Atton Brickell, Fortune House Hotel & Suites, W Hotel, Hotel Urbano.

Right over the bridge into downtown you have a Courtyard, Marriott Marquis, Intercontinental, Kimpton Epic, Hyatt Regency, Holiday Inn, The Langford, Miami Marriott Biscayne, Doubletree....

This is excellent information! Thanks so much!
  7. We love everything about the Getaway! She has been our favorite cruise. Booked it again for the western itinerary in July. My family and I both agree that the Waterfront is one of our favorite areas in the ship, especially in the evening. The ropes course and of course putt putt golf!! We always get the mini suite on the Getaway just because we prefer the shower in there as opposed to the regular balcony rooms my parents get. The food has always been delicious, never met a buffet I didn't like, lol. Actually I am very picky and the ships buffet has always been immaculate! Have fun and enjoy your cruise!
