Because we aren't allowed to mention TAs by name, I won't, but have you thought about calling P&O Australia directly?
-
I just had a look at the website and it seems the price just isn't quoting up properly when you click through the site. I would call them if you're keen to book and query them on it. :)
-
Don't book then... ;)

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your cruise. I have to admit though, I'm kinda relieved to see someone else had a similar experience to us (even down to the beds being set up wrong). We did the 17 day repositioning cruise and had similar issues with the entertainment, entertainment staff, dark public areas, "showtime" in the MDR, etc. However, the majority of people on here seemed to love that cruise (if they were on it) or have loved other cruises on the Spirit. Unfortunately, it was enough to put us off Carnival. We'll be sticking to RCI, Celebrity or P&O from now on.

Hi there, the P&O ships now leave from the new White Bay terminal.
-
They had them on the Solstice when I did a tour a week ago. :)Does Celebrity sell models on board their ships? -
I was looking at the Sydney Port Schedule just last night and even though it's not anything official, Sapphire Princess is listed on a few occasions. :)
-
Great review and fantastic pics, thanks mpoole3! :) I realise they're the oldest ships in the fleet but I kinda have a bit of a love affair with the Sovereign class ships at the moment. They still seem to be really lovely ships.

VD at Sea = Venereal Disease at Sea...? Teehee! :D

Hi modelman, you have an amazing collection! I was just wondering if your Oasis is the one they sell on board the ship? If so, can you please tell me how long it is? I've seen two listed on eBay and one was apparently 12 inches long and the other was 16 inches long. I'm not sure which to believe... :)Latest pic of the collection, though the top shelf did not make it into the frame.. I am still amazed how large the Oasis is. -
Does anyone have a model of the Monarch of the Seas (the ones sold onboard) and if so, can you please post some pics of it? Thanks! :)

Glad to hear your Spirit experience was like ours John and we weren't alone. We probably won't be sailing with Carnival again after that cruise. We LOVE cruising but you're right about the entertainment. A lot of times, aside from the occasional trivia and bridge classes, there was very little to do.
-
Not sure if it's the case now or not, but when we sailed, quite a few of the items on the room service menu weren't available elsewhere on the ship. So the option to "go for a walk and get the food yourself" as you so eloquently put it, was not viable.Seriously people you don't want to pay for room service go for a walk and get the food yourself.
Ignorance is bliss, I guess...:rolleyes:The Spirit is here now and changes have been made. Accept it and sail in her or go another line. The majority if cruisers wouldn't know differently and would think $5 for a pizza delivered to the room was a bargain. -
Especially when they advertised free ice cream and pizzas 24/7!
-
Are you serious!? If we'd paid for all that whilst on board, our bill would've been huge! Sorry, but that's a joke!Just looking at room service menu now, we never ordered room service, so I can't be 100% sure but the in room menu doesn't mention any fees just the price per item. I would assume there is no fee to deliver. Not a big menu either. Soups & salads choose either wonton noodle soup, classic caesar salad or greek salad $ 3.00 per item - add chicken to salad for extra $2. Assorted pies or sandwiches to choose from $ 5.00 per item. Pizza from deck 9 pizza bar $ 5.00 each. They are about the size of a dinner plate, wood fired style - quite yum. Desserts - choc cake, cookies or fruit salad $ 3.00. Drinks - juice, tea, coffee hot choc $ 3.00. Continental breaky available too- Fruits/cereals $ 2.00 per item. Yoghurt $2.00. Toast/muffins/bagel $ 3.00 item and drinks as above. Hope this helps:) -
We didn't do it but I believe it's around $95 and takes around 3.5 or 4 hours. :)Does anyone know the cost of Behind the Scenes ship tour and what is it's duration? What do you get to see? -
Urgh! Yes, he does! :oQuestion. Does the CD Stu still act in the stereotypical American view of an Australia, since he did that act the whole cruise when I was on, and it was rather annoying. -
I know I've said it before but I promise my review of our Spirit cruise is coming (we're in the middle of packing up our lives here in Adelaide and moving interstate). Urgh, I hate moving!
Anyhoo, we experienced the same sorts of lacklustre entertainment when we were on board. The P&O Australia entertainment leaves the Carnival daytime entertainment for dead. I thought with Carnival Australia managing the ship now that it would improve but apparently not. And the parties they had on board our cruise were mainly an excuse for the entertainment staff to entertain themselves.
We enjoyed our food in the MDR, buffet was good most of the time, steakhouse was amazing! Our cabin steward and the waitstaff in the MDR were amazing - very attentive! And they made them all do the dancing between main course and dessert. it got a bit much after a while. i think with that you either love it or hate it. Some of the drinks waitstaff were a bit hit or miss with the service. Once they figured out you had a bottomless bubbles sticker, they usually kept away from you because there was no 15% gratuity in it for them.
I really hope Carnival Australia gets feedback from people on their experiences. For the most part, we enjoyed our cruise. And we wouldn't let little things ruin the whole cruise for us (the ports we went to and the tours we did were great as well). But it certainly wasn't the best cruise we've been on and we probably won't go on the Spirit again.:)

Yeah, I'd say she'll dock at Garden Island or drop anchor and tender passengers to Wharf 5 Barangaroo. That's what happened when my parents sailed on QM2 and it said docking at Wharf 5.
-
Make sure your phone isn't sim locked to the Virgin Mobile network. If it is, you'll need to have it unlocked before going otherwise any other sim cards won't work. :)
-
This is fantastic! I can't wait to sail to these ports! :)

Yes, this is true Sandy. :) I keep looking at vids and pics of the Dawn online. I swear, it's like I'm torturing myself! I really wanna cruise on her!I believe they are going to make a more permanent arrangement in the refurb. :) -
I believe the only ship in P&O Australia's fleet with a pizza place is Pacific Sun (and she won't be around after July 8th). Although on the P&O promotional videos for Pacific Dawn (on youtube - they're a few years old), they show people being served pizzas... :confused:Is there no pizza place on the P&O Australia ships?? -
Sounds like the government needs to try and find Australia's answer to Port Everglades and fast!

Sorry for the random question, but just wondering if buffalo wings are ever made available on Rhapsody? Thanks! :)
