  1. Something that I do not get:

I purchased a classic Aria full face, size L/XL. My wife tried it and loved it. Well, almost - she felt like it was too large. When I looked for a smaller size (M/L), the classic was mostly out of stock but then the newer model, Aria QR just came in and I ordered the QR.

The QR seems to be a more sophisticated model as it has Go pro and also you can quickly un-buckle the belts. BUT, it somehow is harder to breath😢

Even if you do not attach the snorkel, the QR requires more effort to breath than the classic.

Does anybody knows why? Is it possible to mitigate? The QR fits ideally to her face..

    Thanks in advance!

  2. You are considering the refundable fare option, correct?

Then you can make the no-risk reservation with air2sea, obtain the booking code and then attempt to check your actual flights on Delta. If you don't like what you find, you can cancel the reservation.

  3. Goofysmom99,

This is in line with my observations. But, even the choiseair web (aka CruisingPower) is not consistent. I mean, if I use generic choice (no preferred time and no preferred air carrier), I get prices that are reasonable to choiceair (~25% of official fare for oneway business). But, if I specify the time window that covers one of these reasonable flights, the price jumps ~150%, but still below the official fare! And if I specify the carrier, the price becomes exactly the official fare, and the same you can get with FlightsbyCelebrity. Very close to your $1500-> $3500 --> $5000 example.

  4. I agree that something strange is going on with Flights by Celebrity and also with other RCCL-branded flights. While last year, there were aplenty of flights (one-way business Europe-US) at very reasonable prices (<$1,000, i.e., ~20% of the published fare), nothing like that appears to be available for practically entire 2020. The flights available right now for 2020 (May-October) are practically the same as the published fare, the only advantage of X's flights would be the delayed payment.

Perhaps we all need to start annoying Flights by X and have them strike a better deal with the air? Flights by Princess, for example, still show very attractive fares for 2020.

  5. The FV cabins are the largest and most convenient balcony cabins, especially on the M-class. On European sites, this category, along with Aqua and Concierge class, belongs to "balcony comfort" super-category. This means that the European passengers enjoy essentially the same perks in FV cabins as those in C- or A- cabins. Moreover, on the M-class ships, the FV cabins are located in between the concierge-class cabins and are served by the same room attendants. It seems logical to officially assign the same perks to FV cabins as  those in C/A cabins, and to acknowledge this fact on Celebrity website. If this reassignment implies a small increase in FV pricing, my guess is that US passengers will accept it.

Because of the current situation, the passengers that purchased an FV  cabin, can be accidentally "upgraded" to  e.g., C3 category, which may cause significant conflicts

  6. On our recent 15-night TA, I paid to our butler $140 in the middle of cruise, after which his service has significantly improved; we then utilized him for several in-room breakfast/afternoon meals. I also left ~$80 additional to the room steward, towards the end - he seemed to be happy. We utilized the concierge/assistant concierge several times; however, there were some misunderstandings. When I left them $60 the last night, they seemed to be positively surprised, and they also thanked me the next morning 🙂 Go figure

  7. Thanks Mayann and Globaliser for your thoughts.

My largest concern so far is not that I might need to cancel the cruise (I can do that with no penalty up to mid-June 2019), but that the choice air may decide to cancel my flights. I am afraid that calling them would not be helpful because the situation seems to require a supervisor-of-supervisor attention.

On a separate note, what also bothers me is that the availability of flights within "quick quote" differs substantially (to the better) from that under the personalized quote (when you actually login).

  8. An interesting situation. We have a reservation with RCCL departing in September 2019 from our home town. On the other hand, we need to fly back to our home town from overseas in mid May 2019.

When I logged in to air2sea, I was able to select very good one-way flights for us. Is there any caveat if I go ahead and purchase the tickets through air2sea, even though the flights would be four months prior to our cruise? I tried to search their terms and conditions but could not find anything applicable.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance
